Sonic the Hedgehog is quite the asset for Paramount+.
The streamer debuted the six-episode limited series Knuckles on April 26, expanding the “Cinematic World of Sonic the Hedgehog” — and setting a streaming record in the process.
In its premiere weekend, Knuckles became the most-watched Paramount+ original series of all time with more than 4M hours streamed over that time frame. It’s also Paramount+’s most watched kids and family title ever.
Paramount+ rarely releases streaming data on its own accord, last touting the success of Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Just two episodes of that series amassed around 7.5M viewers globally in its first week on the platform. Of course, that also included a broadcast sampling run, which Knuckles did not receive.
The streamer is also using hours viewed to quantify the Knuckles audience, which makes it more difficult to compare to these previous numbers. Although, Knuckles appears poised to make an...

Plot: The new live-action event series follows Knuckles on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.
Review: It is hard to believe that Sonic The Hedgehog premiered on the big screen just before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the world. What is even harder to believe is that the movie was actually pretty good. With a sequel released two years later and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 slated for December 2024, the world is chock full of Sega goodness these days. To bridge the wait until the end of this year, the six-episode limited series Knuckles highlights the Idris Elba-voiced echidna warrior’s journey to find his place in our world. Featuring limited connections to the movies, Knuckles has its moments but overall feels like an attempt to tread water until the third...

Knuckles, the Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series, stars Idris Elba as the fierce warrior echidna and follows his adventures on planet Earth. The series takes place between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3 and focuses on Knuckles training Wade to become an echidna warrior. Knuckles features an impressive ensemble cast, including Cary Elwes, Stockard Channing, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel.
Considering how the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise almost skidded to a halt thanks to its "ugly Sonic" design, the little blue critter is now one of Paramount's biggest hits. It seems that the new Knuckles spin-off series is about to continue that success, as the recently released trailer for the series broke a Paramount+ record.
“Only one hero hits this hard,” declares the first trailer for Knuckles, and it wasn't lying. The trailer gained a total of 4.3 million views on YouTube alone in its first 24 hours, with...

Sega and Paramount have made a Sonic The Hedgehog spin-off television series called Knuckles, here’s the trailer.
Sonic The Hedgehog is among the top selling video game franchises of all time. Launching on the Sega Mega Drive in 1991, the blue Hedgehog with super speed has graced countless video games, and after a failed attempt to make an animated film in the 1990s, he finally made a very successful leap to the big screen in 2020. Voiced by Ben Schwartz, it saw him go up against his arch nemesis Dr. Robotnik, played with maniacal relish by Jim Carrey. After being teased at the end of the first film, the 2022 sequel introduced Tails and Knuckles, voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Idris Elba.
News landed recently that the third film will see Carrey reprise his role, despite his previous assertion that he was retiring, with Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas,...
