Season 3 of “Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine” will be a bit heavy — and we’re not talking about good weight on the digital scale. Midway through production on the upcoming season, which TheWrap has learned will air beginning March 19 on Discovery Channel and Discovery+, gold room operator Jesse Goins died.
The trailer for the Box Creek, Colorado-set season, which we can also exclusively debut, does not shy away from the loss — though it also does not mention Goins by name. It opens on a sad Turin, and then we see a fire engine leading an ambulance either away from or to the mining site.
“Oh my God,” Kc Morgan then says.
“Who is it?” Nathan Clark asks.
“It’s hard when you lose a brother,” Jason Sanchez says in the Season 3 sneak peek. “You’ve got to step up.”
Yeah, there’s still (hard) work to be done.

Gold Rush is having an incredible run with a real nail-biter tonight as part of Discovery’s Mega Week. Hoffman crew member Dave Turin has yet to see paydirt, and this constant disappointment unhinges him — leaving him suffering a meltdown on the job. Dave surveys a mound of soil at the Buckland claim and says: “I don’t like the way this looks, like, I think they’re too high, it doesn’t look like pay.” He adds that the claim is “nothing like we thought” and, discouraged after failing to spot gold in the sluices, says: “I just hope they know what they’re setting...read more...

For the first time this season on Gold Rush, Todd Hoffman has fallen behind his young rival, Parker. To catch up he has to figure out what they’re doing wrong in the Supercut. Todd’s definitely a little nervous here and says, “I mean I don’t have to tell you guys this, but 2700 in my estimation is slipping away. Part of the reason why I mined here is because I had drill holes.” Todd then points to a map and says, “This didn’t mine like a drill. Plain and simple. If it did, I’d be kicking Parker’s a%$.” According

Ratings are everything in television. They determine scheduling, budget, advertising and, ultimately, the life-span of a show. That being the case, it is fairly safe to say that Gold Rush has cemented its place in the Discovery Channel firmament, having topped ratings for male viewers for the second consecutive week.
As reported in Discovery Channel’s most recent press release, Gold Rush specifically rated top in all of television for men aged 25 – 54, and men aged 18 – 49, helping make Discovery Channel the number one network for men on Friday evening.
“Driven by Gold Rush programming and Edge Of Alaska, Discovery Channel was the #1 network in all of television on Friday night among men 18-49 delivery, no exclusions.”
With a total of 4 million viewers, the number tuning in to Gold Rush was almost twice that for Edge Of Alaska – which follows it in the schedules – and twice as many as those that tuned in for its lead-in show,...

On Friday, Aug. 2, Discovery continues to mine its gold-mining franchises with the premiere of "Gold Rush: South America," in which the miners that America has come to know and love in Alaska and northern Canada seek new ventures to pursue their goals.
The limited summer series follows all three familiar crew leaders -- Todd Hoffman, Dakota Fred Hurt and young Parker Schnabel -- as they go to extremes to continue their dreams.
Preceding it is an episode of the behind-the-scenes series "Gold Rush: The Dirt," with "Gold Rush" executive producer Christo Doyle, which picks up where the last season of "Gold Rush" left off. Doyle talks to the miners and production crew, to preview "Gold Rush: South America."
Another installment of "The Dirt," airing on Aug. 30, looks back at "Gr: Sa" and previews the next season of "Gold Rush."
