Just when it seemed like Ann and Nancy Wilson had finally put their differences aside for the good of their fans, their legacy, and their family, news erupted this week that the Heart civil war is back on. The situation is so dire that a new group called Nancy Wilson’s Heart has been formed where the the guitarist will perform the group’s classic catalog with vocalist Kimberly Nichole.

We're down to the penultimate installment of The Voice season 8 when the remaining four artists will deliver their final decisive performances. Three months and more than 10 performances ago, Koryn Hawthorne, Sawyer Fredericks, Joshua Davis and Meghan Linsey threw their vocal cords into the ring against 44 other artists, daring to dream that they would be performing live in this final round after which one will be crowned The Voice.
From the beginning, it was clear that Sawyer and Meghan had a reasonable shot at making it, but who would have pegged shy, powerful teen Koryn or mellow, folksy Joshua to surpass such phenomenal performers as Kimberly Nichole, Mia Z, Cody Wickline and Sarah Potenza? Not I, my friends. It just goes to show you that endurance and grace under fire are what it takes to get this far. All four of these finalists are gifted with both of those.

I hope you checked your cynicism at the door while watching The Voice semifinals, which featured the Top 5 contestants’ visits to their hometowns.
If you didn’t, you might’ve had horribly unkind responses at inopportune moments — like, for example, involuntarily gagging at a particularly unfortunate Voice-themed pizza presented to Joshua Davis on his return to Traverse City, Mich., or wondering “How many industry connections does one contestant need?” after Naomi Judd and Big & Rich crashed Meghan Linsey’s return trip to Nashville. (Quick poll: Will her A-list connections hurt or help Meghan with voters?)

We're one week away from The Voice season 8 finale, people, and the numbers they are a-dwindlin'. Five artists remain, and I have to admit I'm still in shock that Kimberly Nichole is not one of them. Looks like 60% of our readers agree with me. Take a look at the results of our poll after the Top 6 results show. During the previous episode, American viewers with the fastest Twitter thumbs saved India Carney over Kimberly in, again, one of the closest races The Voice has ever seen. That seems to be the trend this season.
We'll see each artist perform twice again in the Top 5. Is this the night for duets with the coaches? It turns out that it's not. We'll get a coach-chosen song for each artist, then an artist-chosen dedication to each of their hometowns. At this point, three coaches have one artist each. Adam Levine has artist Joshua Davis,...

Maybe it’s time to stop saying The Voice does nothing to promote its alumni (even though none of ’em have achieved Carrie Underwood- or Kelly Clarkson- or even Chris Daughtry-level success).
Sure, Tuesday’s Top 6 results featured a random (and interminable) interview with the cast of the Entourage movie (did I hear The One With the Hair call it a “bigger, more epic, better… fantasy ride”?). But the one-hour telecast also made room for performances by four former contestants — Season 1’s Vicci Martinez, Season 3’s Avery Wilson, Season 5’s Jacquie Lee and Season 7 champ Craig Wayne Boyd.

The competition is on the verge of getting ridiculous. During the Top 6, there were once again some stand-out performances from the expected crew, meaning Kimberly Nichole, Koryn Hawthorne and Meghan Linsey. Others, however, gave us more of the same old flavor. Each artist delivered a song dedicated to his or her mother (or, in Joshua Davis' case, his children's mother), plus a second performance focusing on bringing down the house. So here we are and the countdown continues for season 8 of The Voice. Adam Levine may be People magazine’s erstwhile Sexiest Man Alive and The Voice‘s Bromancer-in-Chief, but tonight we learned he’d better not stand between Carson Daly and a good cause.

Phew! After what host Carson Daly described as the “closest vote ever,” one artist narrowly missed elimination from The Voice and this season’s top six artists were revealed. Team Christina Aguilera’s India Carney and Kimberly Nichole joined Jason Derulo in opening the show with an energetic performance of his latest single “Want To Want Me,” before Daly revealed Joshua Davis as the first artist to move on to the top six. After landing in the bottom three last week, Davis secured coach Adam Levine’s only remaining spot in [...]...

We're heading into the final stretch of The Voice season 8 as the Top 6 are revealed. The Top 8 gave some incredible performances. I think Kimberly Nichole, in particular, gave a great performance. Sawyer Fredericks and Joshua Davis, at least, should also be safe.
But as we get closer to the end, the competition is definitely getting tighter. Still, we'll have to see two more artists go home as we learn the results of the Top 6. So who will be in the bottom three? And who will get the instant save?...

Last week on The Voice, powerhouse divas dominated. This week, the script was flipped on the NBC singing competition. By the end of Monday night’s broadcast, the top two contestants on iTunes were a pair of soft-spoken males strumming acoustic guitars.
Sawyer Fredericks, the 16-year-old folk singer from upstate New York, reached Number Two on the download chart by this morning with his cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Southern rock classic "Simple Man." Joshua Davis, the Michigan dad who ended up in the bottom three last week only to be rescued via Instant Save,...

I wasn’t planning on watching the Mayweather-Pacquiao boxing match this weekend — I’m more of a Kentucky Derby kinda guy, to be honest — but I can’t imagine it being much bloodier than Top 8 Performance Night on The Voice.
Look, there’s no denying that Season 8 of NBC’s reality singing competition is as jam-packed with talent as Kim Kardashian’s pencil skirts are heaving with badonkadonk. It’s just that, with two more performers headed for a dinner date at The Rancor‘s basement apartment on Tuesday night, it seemed like nearly everyone was swinging hickory bats at melodies requiring butterfly-wing delicacy.

Hold onto your hats, fans of The Voice; we are back with the final eight artists competing for the season 8 title. Some very familiar and welcome faces will be gracing our screens. Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine have invited Cee Lo Green, Gwen Stefani (advising for both Pharrell and Christina) and Usher back to the studios at The Voice to advise the final eight. This puts a huge grin on my face because since last season, I cannot get enough of Gwen Stefani. Expect excerpts from each advising session as each artist prepares to take the stage for their seventh competitive performance.

Something hinky’s been going on with American Idol the last couple weeks — and not just Harry Connick Jr.’s unfortunate attempts at “comedy.”
On this week’s all new (low-budget) installment of Reality Check — be forewarned, our producer Jason Averett is off this week, so there’s no performance footage or fancy editing — my co-host Melinda Doolittle and I try to figure out what ill wind has been blowing through The House That Made Possible Adam Lambert’s Epic “Ghost Town.”

Tonight's elimination show, kicked off with Team Pharrell performing an absolutely awful rendition of "I Don't Want To Be" by Gavin Degraw. Shortly after that, they revealed that Koryn Hawthorne and Corey Kent White are safe this week. Sawyer Fredericks and India Carney were revealed to be safe. Then Reba McEntire showed up to performs "Going Out Like That." Next, they revealed that Meghan Linsey and Kimberly Nichole were safe. From there, Team Adam hit the stage to perform "The Joker." And then they revealed that Hannah Kirby was safe as well, leaving poor Rob Taylor, Deanna Johnson and Joshua Davis sitting in the bottom three this week. They had to sing for the Instant Save. Rob Taylor sang "Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay." Deanna Johnson sang "Help Me Make It Through The Night" and Joshua Davis sang "I Won't Back Down." Then finally when it was all said and done,...

The Voice‘s “Twitter Save” is a curious thing. It asks us to (possibly) veto the will of Monday-night voters in exchange for adding a heaping teaspoon of sriracha to the unflavored polenta that is a typical results-show telecast.
But riddle me this: What if NBC insisted you go to Myspace to rescue a member of the Bottom 3 from being sent to the guillotine? Or if you were forced to create a Vine (the absolute Worst) to make yourself heard? Would you go out to the nearest intersection and create a makeshift smoke signal in an effort to keep a particular singer in the mix?...

At this stage of the game, the top talent begins to seriously rise to the top. Song choice is crucial for displaying each artist's strengths as a vocalist. Everyone at this level is wildly talented, so it's those little mistakes -- the flat note, the early start to a verse, the inability to emote sufficiently as the song requires -- that can derail a contestant's chances. Kimberly Nichole has shown us how to let her artist flag fly. She puts her all into her performances. Koryn and India both had good song choices, but the difference in their performances is all about passion. Sawyer, Corey and Joshua had unfortunate song choices in this round. Hopefully, America votes on each artist's body of work. Here are our rankings of the Top 10 performances.

The Voice is not typically known for tough criticism. On any given night, the coaches’ critiques range from “Your vocal was smoother than a blanket made from a unicorn’s underbelly!” to “You took me through a dozen cycles of life, death and reincarnation (as a unicorn’s underbelly) in the course of a 90-second performance!”

I could say it’s not worth paying attention to The Voice coaches’ comments — which, expressed in paint colors, would range from Rose-Colored Glasses to Fawn(ing) Grey to Sugar-Coated.
But then you’d miss the subtle, sometimes hilarious subtext of Blake, Pharrell, Adam and especially Xtina when they deliberately avoid comments about actual singing — turning everything to pure comedy in the process. (Sample critique: Ms. Aguilera’s “You’ve got that girl-vote goin’ for ya” after mega-hot Corey Kent White hit maybe 60 percent of his notes at best while covering a Jason Aldean ditty.)

Television's #1 unscripted series The Voice returns with the Top 12 live performances. The competition continues to get tighter and tougher as we head toward the finale in May. In preparation for this event, the 12 winning artists from the Live Playoffs spent a grueling week practicing with their coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton. Joining the coaches and aspiring artists was country music Hall of Famer and 2015's Most Awarded Acm Female Vocalist of the Year Ms. Reba McEntire. Wow. Talk about star power. I can hear her famous twang in my head right now singing "Little rock, I think I'm gonna have to slip you off." Good times.
So, if you were with us for the Live Playoffs, you experienced the transformative power of real-time competition. At about this time every season, the wheat is separated from the chaff and some artists crack while others shine with...

Is this the last chance for Rob Taylor to survive yet another week on "The Voice"? His coach, Christina Aguilera, saved him on Wednesday's results show after he was in the bottom portion of the public vote from the viewers. In early results, Gold Derby users are predicting that Taylor may well be eliminated next Tuesday. He has odds of 5/6 of being one of the two people cut from the Top 12 as does Hannah Kirby from Blake Shelton's team. Brian Johnson is at 8/11 to potentially be cut from Adam Levine's team. Conversely, Aguilera's other two artists -- India Carney and Kimberly Nichole (both at 33/1) -- should both be safe. And our users give odds of 3/2 that no Team Christina member will be eliminated. Do you agree with these predictions? How did you do forecasting the results for Team Christina and the other coaches this past week? The top...
