Rakesh Ranjan Kumar's Gandhi to Hitler is a film that is so far beyond inept that it ventures curiously near the realm of the avant garde. I hesitate to give Mr. Kumar's film that much credit, however, and will just say that the best compliment I can give is that I was continually flabbergasted by the perpetual cascade of gobsmackingly idiotic choices made by everyone involved. The film is cringe-inducingly awful, but, for those of us who've made a habit of watching bad movies that were made intentionally hokey, this is a special experience. You see, what makes this film special is that it is painfully obvious in every frame that there is sincere effort being put forth. With the possible exception of Neha Dhupia,...

The trailer for Rakesh Ranjan Kumar's Bollywood historical drama, Gandhi to Hitler, will undoubtedly be the strangest thing you see all day. The recently released film centers around two letters that the Indian peacekeeper wrote to the Nazi leader in 1939 before World War II erupted. According to Letters of Note, the messages never actually reached the Führer due to British interference, but that didn't stop Kumar from making an entire movie about them. The film created a stir last year when critics questioned if Hitler would be portrayed as a hero of sorts. Bollywood vet and Bend it Like Beckham star Anupam Kher even dropped out of the project (he was set to play the big baddie himself), but reviews indicate that the ridiculous factor is so overwhelming there's...

Indian reviewers deliver a withering verdict on Rakesh Ranjan Kumar's controversial historical drama
It's been compared to a real-life version of Mel Brooks's Springtime for Hitler musical from the classic 1968 comedy The Producers – and yes, there are songs. Now the first reviews of much-derided Bollywood historical drama Gandhi to Hitler are emerging from India, and it's not looking good.
Previously titled Dear Friend Hitler, Rakesh Ranjan Kumar's film centres on two letters written by Gandhi to Hitler in which he urged the German leader to pursue his goals via peaceful means. When the film was announced in June 2010 there was concern the Nazi dictator might be portrayed in a positive light. Comments from producers appeared to indicate Hitler might be depicted as a sort of lost hero of Indian independence. The film itself seems to have dropped much of that angle, perhaps following the departure of the well-known Bollywood actor Anupam Kher,...

Berlin, Aug 1: After back to back comedy movies, Neha Dhupia finally got to act in an intense role in her latest movie, “Gandhi to Hitler”. In this movie, Neha plays the role of Hitler’s girlfriend, Eva Braun. Directed by Rakesh Ranjan Kumar, Neha plays a very significant part in the movie since Eva was the only woman so close to Hitler.
According to Neha, after her characters Madhu from ‘Ek Challis Ki Last Local’ and Sonam from ‘Mithiya’, Eva is one character that she feels attached to. Being a history graduate she was familiar with Eva, but it was not easy to portray her role. According to Neha, though.

One hardly knows what to expect of a film which comes with such an ambitious and ambiguous title. It is far from being a masterpiece on world peace (as it likes to promote itself), neither is it a chronicle of world history. But for whatever it is worth, if one takes it with a pinch of salt, it provides two hours of wholesome entertainment. It shouldn’t be written off, merely for its attempt at being a historical film with decent production value.
Gandhi to Hitler presents a contrast between Hitler’s violence that brought about the fall of Germany and its people, and Gandhi’s non-violent means that won India independence. The focus of the film, however, is on the life of Hitler during his final days in Berlin. The part of history that the film has chosen...
