This week on Finding Bigfoot, the team meet sceptic group the Fayettesville Freethinkers and investigate footprints in Minnesota. Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization‘s Matt Moneymaker is never afraid to confront sceptics head on and is keen to find out what the Fayettesville Freethinkers think about Bigfoot. He and the team head to the Mid American Science Museum to meet the the group, who promote science and are also pretty sceptical. Members of the group point out that people in Europe used to report seeing fairies quite often up until a bout 150 years ago and that the lack of any bones or fossil record...read more...

Although they haven’t, to my knowledge, found much convincing evidence of Sasquatch, the self-described “Squatchers” of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot will continue the hunt when a new season of the series begins Nov. 9 at 9pm Et/Pt. At the start of the season’s eight new episodes, the team is supposedly “hot on the trail of what they believe to be the world’s largest Sasquatch.” That enormous Bigfoot is the subject of the two-hour season premiere, which takes Bigfoot Field Research Organization (Bfro) president Matt Moneymaker, researchers James “Bobo” Fay and Cliff Barackman, and skeptical scientist Ranae Holland, off to Alaska. … Continue reading →

Two eyewitness accounts drew the "Finding Bigfoot" team to Greenbrier River, West Virginia. Many residents claim to have seen a sasquatch in the area, but one teen had pictures of the creature. This would have been impressive enough had a couple not had what is perhaps the most elusive thing to find: physical evidence of the existence of the creature.
Matt Moneymaker was very excited by their find. "These are squatchers -- are very fine hairs," he said of the hairs collected by the couple. "It’s the first time the hairs were found where they had a sighting; where two witnesses saw it."
The team sent off the hair samples to the lab for examination, but the results came back inconclusive. In fact, all of their investigations in Greenbrier River proved inconclusive, but that does little to deter the determined.

Some believe that there is a large, hairy, bipedal ape-manlike creature skulking about in the woods, occasionally being seen by humans but generally staying out of sight. If true, that's quite an accomplishment, since the bigfoot, or sasquatch, has been reported to be as large as 8 feet tall.
Others believe you're more likely to find a unicorn in Central Park.
On Sunday, Nov. 11, new episodes of "Finding Bigfoot" return on Animal Planet. The show sends four adventurers on a search for definitive evidence one way or the other. They are Matt Moneymaker, founder and president of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization; biologist and bigfoot skeptic Ranae Holland; investigator Cliff Barackman; and fisherman James "Bobo" Fay. They travel from small Southern towns to remote forests of the Pacific Northwest and the wilds of Alaska in search of an answer to the bigfoot mystery.
Barackman bases his confidence that the creature exists on the persistence of evidence.

Animal Planet's "Finding Bigfoot," one of the network's all-time top-performing series, is heading into its third season in November with 11 new episodes and two specials during which its team of investigators continues to search for Sasquatch. But with shows like this and the network's speculative documentary "Mermaids: The Body Found," some wonder whether Animal Planet may be hurting its reputation with such outlandish concepts.
Network president Marjorie Kaplan tells reporters at Thursday's (Aug. 2) Television Critics Association panel that she doesn't think so.
"We spend a lot of time talking to our audience," she says. "The audience has voted with their remotes."
The "Mermaids" docudrama led to a great deal of confusion among some viewers who thought it was the real deal. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration even released an official statement on the matter.

TV critics took on Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot during a contentious panel at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour in Beverly Hills on Thursday.

At a time when the state of film is in flux, the quality of televised programming available to the viewing public has, thankfully, never been higher. Take a step back and you'll see that we're truly living in a golden age of television, where there's something for everyone and it's often no less than very good.
It's almost impossible for certain types of movies to be made these days. More precisely, it's almost impossible for movies of certain budgets to be made. Studios don't like to take chances and prefer to "go big or go home," which means they'd rather spend $100 million on blockbusters by Hollywood's Bays or Bruckheimers than $10 million on character pieces by talented rookies. This business model not only abandons a whole swath of mid-range movies, it also leaves a lot of quality talent with no creative outlet. This is where the world of contemporary television comes in.

From the Press Release:
For centuries eyewitness accounts and colorful stories have fueled rumors that large, furry, human-like animals have roamed the forests in North America and other continents.
