It's hard to argue that the favorite breakout rapper of 2013 was Macklemore.
With hits from "Thrift Shop" to "Same Love," the mic-handling half of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis was seen at seemingly every music awards show and given a big boost of fame. But the 30-year-old, whose real name is Ben Haggerty, is concerned that he will slide back into drug and alcohol abuse now that the big year has come to an end.
"For me, what is a temptation is coming home off of the road, which is why this time period is interesting," Macklemore tells ABC News via "Good Morning America." "This is when I've fallen back before."
Macklemore started releasing music in 2000, and first met Lewis in 2006. In 2008, Macklemore went to rehab for drug addiction and alcoholism, and after two years of being sober he relapsed again. When asked to describe the low point in his life, he says,...

Gearing up for 2014, Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy promoted "New Year's Rockin' Eve" in the Big Apple on Monday (December 30).
The "American Idol" host wore a black overcoat, black tie, and navy blue pants as he waved at the crowds while the "View" co-host donned a black dress, white belt, and white scarf.
This year, the show features plenty of performances by acts including Blondie, Icona Pop, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Miley Cyrus. Ringing in the new year after the ball drops will be Billy Joel, live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Making sure the west coast isn't left out, Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson will host the show's version for those who are three hours behind NYC.

Two of our favorite TV stars have been extra kind in 2013. "Scandal's" Kerry Washington and "The Vampire Diaries'" Ian Somerhalder were listed in the top 10 most charitable celebrities of the year.
DoSomething.org compiled its annual list of the "Top 20 Celebs Gone Good." For the second year in a row, Taylor Swift topped the list. Following behind her were the guys of One Direction, Beyonce, the late Paul Walker, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Sandra Bullock.
Washington landed the No. 7 spot for serving on President Obama's Presidential Committee on the Arts and Humanities and advocating for arts education. Coming in behind her is Somerhalder at No. 8 for his work with the Ian Somerhalder Foundation.
Rounding out the top 20 (in order) are: Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lawrence, Alicia Keys, Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Blake Shelton, Mindy Kaling, Kevin Durant, Kendrick Lamar and Justin Bieber.

Are the Grammys ready to throw their support behind dance music? Voters typically avoid this genre in the general field but Daft Punk -- nominated for Record and Album of the Year -- have a unique advantage: they're the veterans in both races. For Album of the Year, they face off against a pair of newcomers (Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar), along with a previous winner who is this year's youngest nominee (Taylor Swift) and Sara Bareilles who, at 34, is the second oldest contender in the category. However, as "The Blessed Unrest" is just her third album, she's less seasoned than the decade-younger Swift. Granted, Daft Punk aren't what I'd call old-timers. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter are 39 and 38 respectively -- a moment to weep for musicians over 40 -- and their nominated disc, "Random Access Memories," is only their fourth. But, they've ...

Taylor Swift is the gift that keeps on giving.
Every year, the nonprofit DoSomething.org compiles a top 20 list of “Celebs Gone Good” that’s filled with stars whose charitable activities set them apart from the pack. 2013′s top dog, generosity-wise, is none other than the Red singer/songwriter — which shouldn’t surprise Swift fans, since she also led DoSomething’s list last year. A release notes Swift’s work at the recent Winter White Gala in London, a benefit for homeless youth, as well as her latest liberal gift to the Nashville music scene — a $100,000 donation to the Nashville Symphony,...

While musicians like Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry released hit after hit on their own, 2013 proved that when it comes to music, two can truly be better than one and three makes more than just company. The Grammys hate rap. Sure, artists like Kanye West and Jay-z win trophies by the fistful, but they're almost always limited to the rap categories. In the general field, the Grammys go for adult-contemporary acts. Hell, even the behind-the-times Oscars have awarded Best Song to rap tunes twice. Compare that to the zero which have won Record of the Year at the Grammys. While rap stars Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis both earned seven nominations apiece this year -- including Album of the Year and Best New Artist -- if one of them can overcome Grammy's bias, it'll probably be Macklemore and Lewis. Not only did the duo reap a rare Song of the Year nomination -- with a few exceptions, rap is persona non grata in the top songwriting race -- they were also the biggest new hitmakers of the year, selling millions of copies of their...

Miley Cyrus hit the stage at Madison Square Garden for the Z100 Jingle Ball in NYC on Friday night. She wore a sequined crop top and bikini bottoms while continuing her recent routine of getting up close and personal with a slightly creepy Santa Claus (as played by her good friend Cheyne Thomas). Miley has been traveling the country for the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour along with Robin Thicke, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Selena Gomez, who also performed during Friday's event. Selena and Miley were introduced to the stage by Katie Holmes and Lindsay Lohan, respectively. The lineup of artists previously made stops in La and St. Paul, Mn, this week. It's been a big year for all of the Jingle Ball stars, but especially for Miley. Since the release of her hit single "We Can't Stop," she's basically been taking over the world one high-cut leotard at a time.

Ahem.. guys? Aren’t you forgetting someone? Nominations for the 2014 Grammy Awards were revealed on Dec. 6, and for me, one snub stuck out worse than the rest.
With every awards show, there are inevitably going to be a few snubs — but I can’t let this one go. Selena Gomez had her best year as a musician in 2013 — she truly morphed into a pop star — but apparently dropping hit after hit and owning an entire summer with your music doesn’t qualify you for Grammy Award nominations.
Selena Gomez Was Snubbed By The Grammy Awards
Watching The Grammy Awards Nominations Concert Live!, I was stunned as more and more time passed without Selena’s name being called. And then the show ended, and it became official — Selena had been snubbed by the Grammys. You know that Emoji of the angry red face? That’s how I looked on Dec. 6.

Justin Timberlake was the biggest snub and Sara Bareilles was the biggest surprise in the top categories of the nominees for the 56th annual Grammy Awards, which were announced Friday night in conjunction with a concert special televised from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Timberlake was expected to make the cut for album of the year for his hit comeback The 20/20 Experience, and was also a likely contender for both record and song of the year for "Mirrors," but was shut out of all of those categories. Perhaps Timberlake's decision to release a second part of The 20/20 Experience in September backfired on him.

Los Angeles - Despite the fact they've been in headlines for a year, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis still called their seven new Grammy Awards nominations "surreal." Announced on Friday night (Dec. 6), the nods were for honors including Album of the Year ("The Heist") and Song of the Year ("Same Love" feat. Mary Lambert). "[The award nominations] feels very, very, very, surreal. It's never gonna feel normal," Macklemore said backstage at "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!" show at the Nokia in L.A. The two had opened up the hour-long show, but still felt like they were "sneaking onto red carpets... This...

Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were among the nominees with the most nods for the 2014 Grammy Awards nominations. But there were some interesting surprises for artists like Lamar, Sara Bareilles, Daft Punk and hip-hop on the whole as well as some severe snubs for -- yes -- Timberlake, Lorde, Kanye West, David Bowie and rock 'n' roll. Check out our staff picks on some of the extremes. Who deserved the most awards? Who shouldn't be on the list of Grammy nominees? Does this mean Miley Cyrus won't show up to the ceremony in February?...

The multihyphenate mogul leads all nominees for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards with eight, nods coming for Magna Carta...Holy Grail, his collaboration with Justin Timberlake, his work on Kendrick Lamar's breakthrough album and more. Of course, the competition is hot on that trail, starting with Lamar, whose Good Kid, M.A.A.D City will vie in the prestigious Album of the Year category against Taylor Swift's Red, Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' The Heist and, in what was perhaps a surprise choice for those who expected Timberlake or Kanye West to be here, Sara Bareilles' The Blessed Unrest. The nominations for the 56th annual Grammy Awards are in, and the biggest news is a snub: Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience was completely overlooked in the Album of the Year category. Both of Timberlake's previous solo efforts had snagged nominations in the category, and Grammy prognosticators from USA Today to Billboard had considered Jt a lock. Worse, while Timberlake snagged an impressive seven nominations overall — behind only Jay Z, who led with nine — he failed to make the cut in the song or record of the year categories. With no Timberlake in the album category, Grammy voters made room for Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and, in a bit of a shocker, Sara Bareilles. For best new artist, Kacey Musgraves was the only female artist nominated; she's up against the aforementioned Lamar and Macklemore & Lewis, plus Brits Ed Sheeran and James...
