Tires Season 2: Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know
Image
The Netflix original sitcom Tires was renewed for a second season before season 1 even debuted, and there are already exciting updates about season 2. Created by stand up comedian Shane Gillis alongside John McKeever and Steve Gerben, Tires follows Will (Gerben) who inherits his father's struggling auto-repair business called Valley Forge Auto. While trying to put the company back on the right track, he is constantly hounded by his cousin Shane (Gillis) who makes it his life's mission to undermine Will's efforts to fix the business.

The six-episode first season of Tires wasn't particularly well-received by critics, and many noted it was hardly the most original comedy to grace the streaming airwaves (via Rotten Tomatoes). However, the premiere season was an immediate success for Netflix when it came to viewership, validating the streamer's decision to green light the show for season 2 before season 1 debuted. The ending of Tires season 1 left the door open for more,...

Viewership in the United States peaked during the Ravens-Texans game thanks to the Beyoncé Bowl, which saw over 27 million viewers, per Nielsen. That game was also watched by 5.1 million viewers in the U.S. between the ages of 18 to 34, the highest viewership record the NFL has seen for that demographic since 2001.

A Candid Chat With Bert Kreischer: Netflix’s Christmas Day NFL Tailgate Correspondent
Image
When Netflix first picked up its package of Christmas Day NFL games, there was one thing everyone was wondering in Hollywood: Given the streamer’s desire to lean into big events, what would it do to make these games its sports event of the year, something everyone felt they needed to watch live?

Netflix, it turns out, had an answer: Star power, and a lot of it. Beyonce will perform during halftime of the Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game, and Mariah Carey will make a special appearance during the pregame programming.

And it is rolling out a ton of talent for the studio shows and games themselves, including some of the top names from the other networks, like Ian and Noah Eagle, Greg Olsen, JJ Watt, Robert Griffin III, Mina Kimes, Drew Brees, and Nate Burleson.

And it has turned to a pair of its favorite comedians to help...

How To Watch NFL Christmas Games 2024: Game Start Times & Netflix Live Event Info
Image
Netflix has been amping up its live coverage in 2024, and to wrap up the year, the streaming service will air the two National Football League (NFL) Christmas Day games. From reality dating show reunions to the infamous Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight, Netflix has broadcast various live events. Now, the platform will add two NFL games to its roster. Both matchups are sure to bring in a lot of traffic, though, and hopefully, the streaming company will be more prepared for the massive influx of viewers than it was for the disastrous Netflix's Love Is Blind season 4 reunion.

In 2023, three NFL games were played on Christmas Day — Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs (the Raiders won 20–14), New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles (the Eagles won 25–33), and Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers (the Ravens won 33–19).

Almost every year, a handful of NFL teams play on Christmas Day. It's a tradition,...

Rob McElhenney Offers $100 to the First ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Fan to Guess This Episode
Image
Do you have an encyclopedic knowledge of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Do you know every episode backwards and forwards, able to identify one out of 162 total entries off of minimal clues? Do you desperately need $100?

If the answer to the first two questions is yes, then the answer to the last is likely the same — so, here’s your big chance.

Right now, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and the rest of the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writing staff are hard at work planning the insanity of the show’s upcoming Season 17, which Danny DeVito promised would be even more extreme than the comparatively “tame” previous entries. Us civilians have little knowledge of how the architects of the longest-running live-action sitcom in American history carefully craft each Always Sunny episode to be the perfect level of depraved, surprising and outstandingly funny — a fact that was on full...

Pat McAfee Apologizes Over Aaron Rodgers’ Epstein Claim: “I Can Understand” Why Kimmel Got Upset
Image
Pat McAfee hopes that ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers talk things over.

The ESPN host opened his program Wednesday by addressing the feud between Rodgers and Kimmel, which escalated Tuesday when Kimmel suggested that he could take Rodgers to court over a claim — made on McAfee’s show — that Kimmel had some connection to the list of Jeffrey Epstein associates set to be released this month.

McAfee said that after the Rose Bowl game, he and his team were “rolling on two hours of sleep” going into Tuesday’s show, and added that the freewheeling nature of the show is its hallmark.

This time, however, things may have gone a bit too far.

“There could be some things that were certainly, probably — I mean, we’re gonna have to hear from Aaron on that — meant to be a shit talk joke that...

Meet Tom Brady’s Hollywood Marketing Machine: Shadow Lion
Image
Well before NFL star Tom Brady retired from professional football, his off-field legacy was beginning to take shape through a business that’s grown from a handful of people dedicated to optimizing the quarterback’s social media opportunities to a multidimensional creative studio with about 20 employees across the country.

The company is called Shadow Lion, and it was founded in 2017 by a core team including Brady’s longtime manager Ben Rawitz, Jeff Fine (who happens to be Rawitz’s brother), and Gilad Haas who previously worked for Brady’s New England Patriots teammate Julian Edelman. The firm is one of a few celebrity founded marketing agencies — think: Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort — that have cropped up in recent years.

The buzzy Hertz commercials? That was them. The Emmy-winning series Tom vs. Time? They worked on that, alongside Religion of Sports, too.

But in the years since the creative studio was founded...

CBS Sports Chief Sean McManus to Retire, David Berson to Succeed
Image
CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus expects to step down from his post in April of 2024, and will be replaced by David Berson, the president of the unit. McManus will wind up a tenure that had him overseeing some of the most prized sports properties in TV, as well as CBS News for a brief period.

“This is the best time to make the transition,” says McManus in an interview, noting that Berson has been in his role as president for about a decade and that CBS Sports’ rights portfolio is locked in for another ten years. “I think everyone feels really good about it and everyone feels really good about David taking it over.” McManus will get to preside over a unique Super Bowl experience — the company plans to have Nickelodeon offer a kids’ version of the CBS broadcast of Super Bowl Lviii — and one more Masters before stepping down permanently.

Image
Dude Perfect is the latest creator group to grab a stake in English soccer. The Texas-based collective known for improbable trick shorts and sports-themed comedy has become a minority owner of Premier League club Burnley F.C.

The partnership between Dude Perfect and Burnley began earlier this year, when the YouTube stars signed on as official shirt sponsors for Burnley’s junior and academy teams. As the Lancashire-based club prepared to open the 2023-24 Prem season against reigning league champions Manchester City, Dude Perfect donned claret-and-blue outfits and took their support to the next level. By investing in Burnley, they are following in the footsteps of former NFL star J.J. Watt, who also owns a minority stake in the club.

Burnley is returning to the Premier League this season after spending one year in the second-tier Championship. By teaming up with Dude Perfect, who reach nearly 60 million subscribers on their namesake YouTube channel,...

Tom Brady Enters The World Of Soccer As Minority Owner Of English Club Birmingham City
Image
NFL great Tom Brady has become a minority owner of English second-tier soccer team Birmingham City and wants to bring a winning mentality to an underperforming club.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion has partnered with the club’s holding company, U.S.-based Knighthead Capital Management, and becomes chairman of a new advisory board, Brady and Birmingham said Thursday.

“Maybe you are asking, ‘What do you know about English football, Tom?’” Brady said in a club video. “Well, let’s just say I’ve got a lot to learn. But I do know a few things about winning.”

Birmingham said Brady will “apply his extensive leadership experience and expertise across several components of the club.” That includes working alongside the sports science department to advise on health, nutrition and recovery programs.

Tom Brady Becomes Minority Owner of British Soccer Team Birmingham City
Image
The Wrexham effect is in full force.

Tom Brady has followed in the footsteps of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney by entering the U.K. soccer business.

Brady entered a partnership with the club’s new owners, Knighthead Capital Management. With the deal, the former NFL star becomes chairman of a new advisory board at St. Andrew’s and, according to Knighthood co-founder Tom Wagner, will “have a direct impact on the club,” which will benefit from his knowledge.

“Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion, and to be part of the Blues is a real honour for me,” said Brady. “I’ve been part of some amazing teams in my day, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham.

How CAA Sports Took the Field
Image
The entertainment industry collectively raised an eyebrow 16 years ago when CAA decided to go big into sports.

Today, CAA Sports, steered by co-heads Howard Nuchow and Michael Levine, is the agency’s second-most profitable division, behind only film and TV operations combined. Beyond representing athletes and coaches, CAA Sports is active in a range of consulting and rights-brokering activities that have proven extremely lucrative. Moreover, the agency is well-positioned to take advantage of the growth in media opportunities for sports stars.

“The barrier to entry to so much lower now that our athletes have such direct and constant contact with their fans,” says Levine. “The social footprints of our athletes is bigger than those of most media companies. That isn’t lost on them. They’re very smart and they’re very aware of what they at their fingertips. Our athletes have been smart about playing the long game.”

NBA stars Dwayne Wade,...
