Kevin Costner is one of the most recognizable names in the movie industry, without a doubt. He has starred in numerous movies, including The Untouchables, Jkf, The Bodyguard, and others, but it seems that was Kevin Costner really likes is the western genre. He starred in Wyatt Earp, directed and starred in Dances with Wolves, which earned him two Oscars and starred in the western series Hatfields & McCoys and Yellowstone. It is obvious that he likes the Wild West in all shapes and sizes, and his next movie projects confirm that. Costner is currently working on a four-part movie series, Horizon: An American Saga, which is going to be set in the Civil War era, and we have just received confirmation of the first film’s epic runtime.
Kevin Costner is directing, starring, and co-writing the saga, with Jon Baird joining him as co-writer. It is planned to consist...

Having not released a film since 2017’s Downsizing, director Alexander Payne follows up what is considered the weakest film of his career with an absolutely wonderful work. At the Barton boarding school, bad-tempered professor Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti) is forced to remain on campus during the Christmas break to look after a handful of students with nowhere to go – collectively known as The Holdovers. Across the break, he forms a bond with student Angus Tully (Dominic Sessa) and head cook Mary (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
From the opening moments where the studio logos and ratings title card appear in retro styles, Payne recreates the feel of a ‘70s feature throughout his latest work. The combination of aesthetic and story brings to mind a Hal Ashby film,...

The old saying goes that there’s no place like home for the holidays, but sometimes, spending time with loved ones just isn’t in the cards. That’s the case for three very different people at a New England prep school in 1970 in “The Holdovers,” premiering on Peacock on Friday, Dec. 29. Paul Giamatti plays a curmudgeonly history teacher forced to remain on campus over the Christmas vacation to keep an eye on the students who can’t return home for the holidays. Over the break, he forms a surprising family with a mischievous student and the school’s head cook, both of whom are looking for something they can’t get at home. You can watch with a subscription to Peacock.

Alexander Payne’s Golden Globe-nominated The Holdovers, costumes by Wendy Chuck, stars Dominic Sessa, Paul Giamatti (Golden Globe nomination), and Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Golden Globe nomination)
In the first installment with Wendy Chuck, Alexander Payne’s longtime, brilliant costume designer, we discussed her most recent Payne film, the intricately layered The Holdovers (screenplay by David Hemingson), dressing the stars Paul Giamatti, Dominic Sessa, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph and the terrific supporting cast of Carrie Preston, Brady Hepner, Ian Dolley, Jim Kaplan, Michael Provost, Naheem Garcia, Darby Lee-Stack, Andrew Garman, Stephen Thorne, and Gillian Vigman.
Wendy Chuck with Anne-Katrin Titze on Alexander Payne: “You know Alexander, he wants everything as authentic as it possibly can be.”
We started out with the costumes for Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon (Jacqueline West), Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things (Holly Waddington), and Bradley Cooper’s Maestro (Mark Bridges). We also touched upon.

Every Christmas movie has to have its scrooge. In Alexander Payne’s holiday-set dramedy The Holdovers, the curmudgeon is Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti), a long-time teacher at Barton Academy, an elite Massachusetts boarding school. Paul treats the affluent students in his ancient history class with contempt, gleefully terrorizing them with poor grades in order to trip up their otherwise smooth rides to fancy colleges. He’s the kind of teacher who flunks almost everyone on their end-of-semester exam and then assigns the class extra homework over the holidays as prep for yet another exam as soon as they get back. Bah humbug, indeed.
It’s not just the students at Barton who loathe Paul. So does the school’s administration. Hence Paul being saddled with holdover duty over the winter break—that is, to supervise any students who, for whatever reason, can’t go on lavish vacations like the rest of their peers,...

Thank god for Alexander Payne. The filmmaker is, and always has been, a true humanist. A writer-director more interested in human beings, something that has always been the special effect of his movies. A two-time Oscar-winning writer, his latest film, The Holdovers, which had its world premiere on Thursday at the Telluride Film Festival, is one of his rare movies in which he doesn’t have a writing credit. David Hemingson did the screenplay, but the idea, an inspired one, came from Payne, a real film buff who was always intrigued by Marcel Pagnol’s 1935 French film Merlusse about a group of boarding school students stuck over the holidays with a much-despised teacher. The director thought it had the bones for a new story and developed it with Hemingson.
Set in 1970, it is Payne’s first period film after a celebrated career for movies like Sideways, The Descendants and many others.

Focus Features has launched the trailer for the poignant comedy feature ‘The Holdovers.’

Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them – a damaged, brainy 15-year-old troublemaker (Sessa) – and with the school’s head cook, who caters to sons of privilege and has just lost a son in Vietnam (Randolph).
All three are very different shipwrecked people who share comic misadventures during two very snowy weeks in New England and realise that none of them is beholden to their past.

Photo: ‘Plan B’/Hulu Hulu’s Newest Female-Led Comedy - The Rundown Films full of embarrassing situations, empowering young characters, raunchy comedy, and the desperation to fix the problems they’ve started are the basic essentials to any coming-of-age comedy movie, and Hulu’s latest release ‘Plan B’ starring Kuhoo Verma (‘The Big Sick’) and Victoria Moroles (‘Teen Wolf’) perfectly fits that mold. Verma stars as Sunny, the type-a, book smart overachiever high school student who feverishly aims to please her stringent Indian American mother. It was about halfway through Natalie Morales’ Plan B (her directorial debut if you go by theatrical release date considering her festival title Language Lessons from earlier this year has yet to secure one) that Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg’s producer credits came into focus because it was there that the parallels to Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle became undeniable. If actor-turned-director Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart was created in the Superbad vein, Joshua Levy and Prathiksha Srinivasan’s script was certainly drawn from that of the Cobra Kai showrunners’ breakthrough comedy. And it’s not just because they share having two non-white stars on a drug- and sex-fueled adventure in search of a holy grail. What connects them most is the heartfelt and inclusive ride-or-die friendship at their cores.

“Plan B” is a girls-behaving-badly all-night-long road-trip comedy that’s The film made me realize that almost every time a movie like this one comes along that has young women at the center of it, it’s been an independent film. In the randy teens + binge party = escalating trainwreck genre of high delinquent comedy, that’s a crucial distinction, because it means that the films bypass a certain mainstream blandification. “Plan B” will be released May 28 on Hulu, and it’s clear that the relevant executive note-givers did not see fit to demand that the movie lose certain jokes outrageous enough to hit viewers like a comic shock wave.
Whereas a comedy like “Superbad,” great as it is, was able to draw on films ranging from “American Graffiti” to “License to Drive,” “Plan B” has a vastly shorter pedigree, one that stretches back to maybe “Bachelorette” (2012), a scabrously anti-romantic comedy...

"My 24 hour window is closing!" Hulu has debuted the first official trailer for Plan B, a new comedy in the vein of Superbad, the second feature film directed by actress Natalie Morales (following her feature debut Language Lessons). This looks like good fun. After a regrettable first sexual encounter, a straight-laced high school student and her slacker best friend have 24 hours to hunt down a Plan B pill in America's heartland. Kuhoo Verma and Victoria Moroles star as friends Sunny and Lupe, and the cast includes Michael Provost, Mason Cook, Josh Ruben, Hana Hayes, and Bobby Tisdale. This looks like the next great modern teen comedy after Lady Bird and Booksmart. Let's roll! I'm ready for some Plan B heartland humor. There will be no third season for Insatiable. Netflix has canceled the dark, twisted revenge comedy starring Debby Ryan, Dallas Roberts, and Alyssa Milano after two seasons. Milano revealed the cancellation decision to a fan on Twitter earlier this month. Today, she posted an update, thanking fans.
This is sadly true. We had the most fun creating this show. I want to thank the fans who gave us a shot and kept coming back for more. Season 1 & 2 are still streaming. P.S. Any thoughts on who was Coralee’s baby daddy? I guess we will never know.

Turns out Netflix’s appetite for “Insatiable” wasn’t entirely, well, insatiable.
The dark comedy, which faced considerable backlash and was accused of promoting fat shaming before it even premiered, has been canceled by Netflix after two seasons.
“Insatiable” followed Patty (Debby Ryan), who for years has been bullied, ignored, and underestimated by those around her because of her weight. But now that she finds herself suddenly thin, Patty is out for payback against anyone who has ever made her feel bad about herself.
In addition to Ryan, the series starred Dallas Roberts, Alyssa Milano, Christopher Gorham, Erinn Westbrook, Michael Provost, Kimmy Shields, Irene Choi, and Sarah Colonna. Lauren Gussis created the series and served as executive producer alongside Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass, Andrea Shay, Todd Hoffman, and Dennis Kim. CBS Television Studios produced the show.
Milano appeared to confirm the news in a tweet from Feb. 4.

It's game over for Netflix's Insatiable.
The series has been canceled after two seasons ,according to series star, Alyssa Milano.
The actress responded to a fan who asked about a potential third season earlier this month.
"We will not be coming back, sadly," she said on Twitter.
Given that Insatiable Season 2 launched in October and Netflix has not renewed it, it seemed the series was not going to be renewed.
The streamer typically makes renewal or cancellation decisions around four weeks after a show premieres, so it is likely the second season failed to live up to expectations in terms of viewers.

Insatiable followed Patty Bladell, a teenager who was constantly bullied in school for being overweight.
After being on a liquid diet for three months over summer vacation because of a freak accident, she is now thin and seeks revenge on her bullies.

Patty’s at it again! Netflix on Monday released the trailer for Insatiable‘s upcoming second season (Oct. 11), teasing more insane shenanigans courtesy of Debby Ryan‘s bloodthirsty beauty queen character.
In case you’re a little fuzzy about where Insatiable left off, here’s a quick refresher: Season 1 ended with Patty (Ryan) beating Christian to death with a crowbar after discovering that he roofied Magnolia (Erinn Westbrook) and stuffed her in the back of his car. The fact that Patty repeatedly screamed “I’m a good person!” while committing this murder should give you some idea of her current mental state.

Netflix’s dark comedy series Insatiable has been given a Season 2 order. I wasn’t sure if that would happen due to the controversy surrounding the series, but it’s that controversy that most likely boosted it’s ratings and gave it the opportunity to thrive with a second season.
There was even a petition that got over 100,000 signatures demanding that Netflix pull the series. Series creator Lauren Gussis asked people to give the show a chance, though, saying:
“When I was 13, I was suicidal. My best friends dumped me, I was bullied, and I wanted revenge. I thought if I looked pretty on the outside, I’d feel like I was enough. Instead, I developed an eating disorder…and the kind of rage that makes you want to do dark things … please give the show a chance.”

Netflix is not letting the haters get it down. The streaming service has renewed its controversial dark comedy Insatiable for a second season.
Billed as "a coming-of-rage story," Insatiable tells the story of Patty (played by Debby Ryan), an overweight high school student who was bullied for her weight. After losing weight as a result of a physical altercation, Patty decides to get revenge on those who emotionally tortured her by becoming a beauty queen. Along the way in Patty's journey, we meet lawyer and beauty pageant coach Bob (Dallas Roberts); his wife, Coralee (Charmed alum Alyssa Milano); and their son, Brick (Michael Provost), among others.
Since the release of its trailer, the show has been met a wave of backlash for several reasons, but it's largely drawing criticism for the fat-shaming premise the series is built on. However, Ryan, Milano, and creator Lauren Gussis have all stood by the series,...

Netflix has ordered a second season of its series Insatiable, from creator Lauren Gussis and CBS TV Studios. The dark, twisted revenge comedy starring Debby Ryan, Dallas Roberts, and Alyssa Milano, will return in 2019.
Like Netflix’s drama series 13 Reasons Why, Insatiable has attracted both strong viewership — judging by available streaming data — and controversy. 13 Reasons Why, which had been criticized for its depiction of teen suicide, bullying, drunk driving and rape, was recently renewed for a third season. Similarly, Insatiable, which was accused of “body-shaming,” has landed a second season.

A lot of people get punched in the face in the trailer for the upcoming Netflix show “Insatiable.” Nearly all of those surround the up-and-down arc of Patty (Debby Ryan), a high-schooler bullied for her weight. After she returns to school with a changed build, she’s on the delivering end.
Patty’s story will arrive on Netflix next month in the form of a 12-episode debut season. Also making up the backbone of this season (aside from the other students hurling insults and getting right hooks to the jaw) is Dallas Roberts’ Bob Armstrong, who takes on Patty as a beauty contest ingenue/protege. Like the kids at Masonville High, though, he gets far more than what he bargained for, a problem that quickly brings in his wife Coralee (Alyssa Milano).
The “Insatiable” ensemble also includes Christopher Gorham, Erinn Westbrook, Michael Provost, Kimmy Shields, Irene Choi, and Sarah Colonna.
