IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Alin Popa Georgian (b. August 15, 1984, Pitesti, Romania) is a Romanian actor, theater and film. His most important role in theater acting was in the play Romeo and Juliet, which plays Tybalt.

His parents are both Romanian Alin Popa, born in the city of Pitesti, Arges County. His father, Popa George works at the University of Pitesti, and his mother, Maria Popa, retired, worked on technical quality control, SC ANA IMEP SA.

Alin was born in Pitesti, Arges County and attended elementary school in the village of Red Parvu city Costesti Arges County until 8th grade, when his parents transferred him to the School no. 4 Pitesti. After finishing elementary school he enrolled at the Industrial School Dacia Pitesti which he completed in 2003. In parallel with high school Alin practiced Handball for a short period of time. He flirted with modeling, being enrolled in Allure Models agency, headquartered in Bucharest, Romania.

After high school, under the guidance of his parents, he enrolled and was admitted to the Faculty of Sport in Pitesti, Department of Kinesiology, although his father initially advised to follow the Faculty of Theology. After the first two years of study, in 2006, Alin went to Bucharest to join the Faculty of Acting, UNATC, Bucharest, under the guidance of teachers and actors Mircea Rusu and Alexandru Jitea, from which he obtained his diploma degree in 2009. Simultaneously finalized and studies of the Faculty of Sport in Pitesti, using the method of distance learning. His first job was in 2005, during Faculty of Sport, in Kenvelo stores, as sales assistant. It lasted only three months, because Alin already decided to start preparing for admission to UNATC, Faculty of Acting, Bucharest. The moment he began to think about a career in acting was in high school, he was enrolled at Allure Models, where he had some courses of theater. The first TV appearance was in 2006, he was a student at the School of Acting, when he won a role in a commercial for Petrom, after being contacted by CDF casting agency, then called Rodeo.

During college, he played in several plays, such as " Si noi si ea " or " D'ale carnavalului", directed by Alexander Jitea. His career gained momentum in 2009 when he starred in the theater show Biloxy Blues, where he had the role of Donald Carney directed by Mircea Rusu. The play was interpreted at the Nottara theater in Bucharest and in theaters in Arad, Targoviste, Brasov. It was also stated in the "International Theatre" Festival in Macedonia, where he was very successful. Maria Sarbu, National Journal, states that "(...) some of them will become celebrities, among them: Liviu Romanescu, Daniel Hara, Dragos Dumitru, Armand Utma / Cornelius Ulici Valentin Paraschivu, Alin Popa, Mihai Muntenia / Andrei Seusan ". Monica Andronescu, Adevarul News, says" Biloxy Blues " manages two important things. On the one hand, to highlight the actors (...) and, on the other hand, to unravel the story to the the public in a form that they can feel the full taste ." Immediately afterwards received two roles in feature films" Portrait of the Fighter as a Young Man" directed by Tica Popescu and" Repossessed" directed by Jay Lender and Micah Wright.

One of his mentors was the teacher and actor Mircea Rusu, who taught that in acting " You must be available at any time to do what you are asked."

In terms of acting preferences, Alin said that the balance tipped in favor of the film rather than theater, because from his point of view "film acting helps me more in the idea of building a role and the roles in which I feel best are negative." The Acting talent inherited from his mother, and in 2014 they played together in a commercial for Vodafone. The biggest challenge was the interpretation of the role in "THEY're Watching" (TVZ: Repossessed-original title) when his character was killed in a forest with an ax lodged in his chest.

In 2011 he starred in two short films selected at Cannes 2012 "Hello Kitty" and "Kiddo", both directed by Millo Simulov. Also in 2011 Alin Popa won a role in Matasari short film, directed by Ilija Piperkoski, which won the Best Short Film in the Timishort Festival 2012. The most important movie role was in the short movie "The Game" directed by Zoran Simulov 2014, where he had to interpret an assassin.
