Lotte Cultureworks will launch “Holy Night: Demon Hunters,” likely to be one of the biggest Korean movies of the year, at next month’s European Film Market in Berlin.

The fourth instalment in that series “The Roundup: Punishment” will have its world premiere in the Berlin festival’s Berlinale Special section, with Lee expected to be in attendance, giving Lotte some additional momentum with the new title launch.

Stars: Kang Soo-yeon, Kim Hyun-joo, Ryu Kyung-soo, Uhm Ji-won | Written and Directed by Sang-ho Yeon
Currently streaming on Netflix, JUNG_E is the latest film from Sang-ho Yeon, the director of zombies-on-a-train nailbiter Train to Busan. Whilst this dystopian robo-thriller doesn’t quite hit the same heights, it’s still an engaging slice of sci-fi, even if it’s ultimately much less action-packed than the promotional material suggests.
JUNG_E opens with a protracted series of captions, explaining that it’s 2194 and the Earth has been largely evacuated due to pollution and climate disaster. The only problem is that the various orbiting moon stations have devolved into Civil War, leaving those still on Earth perfecting robo-weapons to help end the conflict.
One such weapon is super-soldier General Yun Jung-yi (Kim Hyun-joo), a highly skilled battle robot built from the DNA and memories of a real military hero, who fell in battle and...

The 2023 slate includes a raft of returning K-content hits, such as new seasons of Sweet Home, D.P., and The Glory. “Over the last year, Korean series and films have regularly featured in our Global Top 10 list in more than 90 countries, and three of Netflix’s most-watched shows ever are from Korea,” said Don Kang, Netflix’s vp of content in Korea. “This year, we’re pushing the envelope even further with the stories we tell and how we tell them.

When Girls’ Generation made their debut back in 2007 with “Into the New World,” most members were under 18 and the K-pop industry was not nearly as prolific with group acts as it is now.
Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun reached mainstream success with the release of “Gee” in 2009, which made Girls’ Generation a household name in South Korea. The group continued to grow in popularity in Asia and in 2011, they began working with Interscope Records to promote in the U.S. The next big shift came in 2017, the group’s tenth year,...
