Professional cyclist Danny MacAskill has just released a video where he heads to the top of a wind turbine and rides along one of its blades, far above the earth. While we’re accustomed to people doing this sort of thing, risking their lives so we have something to tab over to during lunch and stare blankly at while…...

YouTube Originals acquired “Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making of Wildflowers,” which will launch on the streamer later this year.
The documentary offers a deep dive into a condensed period of creativity and freedom (between 1993 and 1995) for the legendary, titular rock star and looks at his creation of his “Wildflowers” album. The project includes never-before-seen archival footage of Petty and his band in the recording studio and on tour, equally rare behind-the-scenes moments of Petty at home with his family and interviews with the album’s co-producers Rick Rubin and Heartbreaker Mike Campbell, along with original Heartbreaker Benmont Tench.
“Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making of Wildflowers” is produced by Peter Afterman and directed by Mary Wharton, with executive producers Dan Braun, Wharton and Adria Petty. It is presented by Inaudible Films, Warner Music Entertainment and Warner Records.

YouTube introduced its skippable video ad format, TrueView, five years ago on April 8, 2010. In celebration of this milestone, Google’s online video site has compiled a variety of data points surrounding TrueView ads, including the fact that the number of advertisers using this format grew 45% in 2014.
In a company blog post, YouTube noted that brands who have gotten more creative with their video ads over the years have seen some impressive results on the online video platform. YouTube cites a Pixability stat which found that the top 100 brands are earning 42% more views on average per month on Google’s online video site. Additionally, YouTube found all of these brands ran TrueView ads in 2014.
Google’s online video site also put together a list of the top five trending video ads from when TrueView launched in 2010. Old Spice landed on the list twice, with the #2 spot for the classic “The Man...

I know this may not be really a geek thing, but I’m really into biking, and I love the indie rock band Band of Horses. This video combines those into an incredibly insane collection of parkour-style bike stunts featuring Danny MacAskill. This guy seriously pulls off some jaw-dropping moves. I can’t believe what this guy is capable of.
Filmed over the period of a few months in and around Edinburgh by Dave Sowerby, this video of Inspired Bicycles team rider Danny MacAskill features probably the best collection of street/street trials riding ever seen. There's some huge riding, but also some of the most technically difficult and imaginative lines you will ever see. Without a doubt, this video pushes the envelope of what is perceived as possible on a trials bike.

Out of all the cool videos produced by the Red Bull Media House, the ones starring trials biker Danny MacAskill are among the coolest. The 28-year-old has returned with his latest stunt video, which takes him to the abandoned Argentine village ofEpecuén. As an elderly narrator explains in the intro to the new video, Epecuén was abandoned in 1985 when a storm flooded the village. Years later, the waters receded, revealing the remains of drowned houses, shops, and streets. Once MacAskill arrives, Epecuén becomes his plaything, as he pulls of an array of jumps, flips, and wheelies across the village. MacAskill's videos consistently rank among the most popular offerings from Red Bull Media House. After his video "April 2009" went viral to the tune of 34 million views, he teamed with Red Bull in November 2010 with "Way Back Home", a stunt-filled journey to his hometown in rural Scotland. He followed that up in...

The man behind Red Bull's second most popular video has scored another hit. Danny MacAskill, the Scottish bike trials rider behind the jaw-dropping 'Way Back Home' video, has released his latest riding video, and it's just as awe-inspiring as his most famous effort. The video is titled 'Imaginate', and it serves as the culmination of the series of the same name, which MacAskill and Red Bull debuted earlier this year. While early episodes of Imaginate explored MacAskill's life and the constant injuries he faces in his extreme profession, later episodes are dedicated to the construction of a huge course to serve as MacAskill's personal playground. In the completed riding video, we see the final fruits of MacAskill's labor, and they are, to use a scientific term, totally awesome. 'Imaginate' is incredibly creative, but the best part about it is how different it is from 'Way Back Home',...

Life can be a beach – especially if you are Channing Tatum. Jimmy Kimmel's new music video, (I Wanna) Channing All Over Your Tatum, has the actor and his White House Down co-star Jamie Foxx singing on the sands. The song also features Tatum's Magic Mike co-star Olivia Munn and Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe – plus a cameo role for Miley Cyrus who gets trapped under a vending machine.
If that video enters the realms of fantasy, wait until you see our trailer for the latest installment of the The Hobbit. Continuing the story begun in An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Lee Pace, Sylvester McCoy, Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly. If you haven't yet seen Danny MacAskill's 'Way Back Home', drop whatever you're doing and watch it right. The stunt biking video, which has racked up more than 26 million YouTube views , is the second most popular offering on the Red Bull channel, and for good reason; the mindblowing extreme sports video, which features MacAskill pedaling, hopping, and pivoting his way across Scotland is (and I say this without a hint of hyperbole) one of the coolest things on the Internet. I mention 'Way Back Home' to preface Red Bull's newest series, Imaginate, which goes behind-the-scenes of MacAskill's life, revealing that street trials aren't the only trials he has to face. The first episode of the six-part documentary discusses the Scot's chronic back and leg injuries, the former of which eventually becomes so intrusive that he must undergo surgery. MacAskill's profession is incredibly unique, and his...

It is often said that the greatest auteurs make films not because they want to but because they have to – it's as natural and essential as breathing. In December 2010 the Iranian maestro Jafar Panahi was banned from making movies and sentenced to six years in prison for creating "propaganda against the Islamic republic", a judgment that sparked outrage around the world.
While awaiting the outcome of an appeal, Panahi was visited in his home by his friend Mojtaba Mirtahmasb, who filmed Panahi wandering through his apartment, feeding his pet iguana, reflecting on scenes from his past movies and describing the latest script that he had been refused permission to shoot – the story of a young girl accepted for university but locked in her house by her zealous father.

Red Bull have always been innovators in the online space; the energy drink giant brands itself well around extreme sports, amassing over 365 million video views on its channel, a YouTube Original. Red Bull has shared some amazing videos with us in the past, including the jaw-dropping Danny MacAskill 'Way Back Home' stunt reel and the death-defying Travis Pastrana rally car jump. Today, the channel generated a never before seen level of exposure by offering up a live stream of the certifiably insane Red Bull Stratos event, where extreme skydiver Felix Baumgartner jumped out of a capsule 128,000 feet above the ground and landed safely less than five minutes later. The event was live streamed on Red Bull's channel and drew over eight million viewers at one point right before the dive began. This prolific amount of exposure shattered the record for the most traffic to one live stream, previously held by NBC's 2012 Olympics coverage.
