Clueless and Fast Times at Ridgemont High director Amy Heckerling in on board to direct all episodes of Quibi’s musical comedy series Royalties.
Heckerling has signed on to helm all ten episodes of the show, which starts filming this week in La.
The series stars The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story’s Darren Criss and You’re the Worst’s Kether Donohue and is produced by Fox’s Gail Berman-led SideCar.
Royalties is a satirical take on the oft-untold story of songwriters behind the world’s biggest hits. It follows the ascent of a ragtag songwriting duo – Sara (Donohue) and Pierce (Criss) – as they navigate the strange and hilarious challenges of creating a truly great song, week after week.
Each episode will feature real-life entertainment personalities portraying fictitious (and ridiculous) music stars, along with original songs penned by Criss.
Criss is co-writing and executive-producing the series...

Exclusive: As lawyers for Johnny Depp and his former law firm spar over a new trial date for the now $50 million malpractice lawsuit the Pirates of the Caribbean star brought against Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal Laviolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman Llp in 2017, there looks to be at least two fewer Hollywood heavyweights in the ring as of today.
Fifty-one years after he started practicing law, Jacob Bloom is retiring from the firm that already doesn’t carry his name, I’ve learned. His fellow founding partner Alan Hergott is also stepping down after years representing clients including Brad Pitt, Star Wars overlord Kathleen Kennedy, her husband producer Frank Marshall, and Neil Patrick Harris.
Hergott and Bloom, who represented Depp for two decades, have been sending emails to clients, current and past, informing them of their decision to move on to a new phase of their lives. As well as working for...

The company’s first film with Universal was June 2013 release The Purge, the $3m production that debuted at number one on $34.1m, some 17% higher than the debut of Anarchy.

It's not everyday that one sees grown men worshipping a children's show, but director Brent Hodge proves the shocking commonality of such a phenomenon as he documents the seemingly inexplicable fascination of a group of adult males with the cartoon "My Little Pony." Particular admiration is bestowed on Ashleigh Ball, who voiced one of the beloved characters and won the hearts of this growing subculture known as 'the bronies.' Tell us about yourself. My friends call me Hodgee and I started Hodgee Films a few years ago. I've been traveling the world with a camera in hand ever since. It's been my ticket to the party and now have a great team of people who have come along for the ride. What was your biggest challenge in completing this project? The biggest challenge was sound and music, and getting that exactly how we wanted it. I worked in radio...
