In what may be the first of many big delays in this dual-strike era, ABC has decided to hold High Potential, its new, Kaitlin Olson-led detective drama, for fall of next year.
In the wake of the WGA strike being settled but SAG-AFTRA still at the hypothetical bargaining table, there has been speculation that the broadcast networks may opt to forego fast-tracking abbreviated seasons of 13 (or far fewer episodes) that dribble out in late winter/spring and instead sit tight and launch full, robust seasons next fall.

“Home Economics” has been canceled at ABC after three seasons.
The comedy series, which is based on the life of writer and executive producer Michael Colton, revolved around the heartwarming yet super uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship between three adult siblings: one who’s in the one percent, one who’s middle class and one who’s barely holding on.
The series starred Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza and Sasheer Zamata and featured Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree and JeCobi Swain. Grace also executive produced alongside Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of The Tannenbaum Company. Jason Wang also served as a coexecutive producer.
“Home Economics” is a coproduction between Lionsgate and ABC Signature.
In addition, ABC will shift the premiere of its upcoming drama series “High Potential” to fall 2024.

ABC has canceled its comedy Home Economics — one of just two shows from the network’s 2022-23 slate that was still in limbo — after three seasons.
Additionally, ABC has pushed High Potential, a crime drama starring Kaitlin Olson, to a fall 2024 debut after initially ordering it for this season. Dual strikes by writers (which ended this week) and actors during the summer and fall have caused significant shuffling of broadcast network schedules already, and there will likely be more moves as the window for producing new episodes for 2023-24 tightens.
Home Economics had the smallest Nielsen-measured audience among the five ABC comedies that aired during the regular September-to-May season in 2022-23. It averaged 2.92 million viewers per episode over seven days, along with a 0.55 rating among the key ad demographic of adults 18-49 (figures don’t include streaming). ABC Signature and Lionsgate Television produced the series, which revolves around three adult siblings (Topher Grace,...

ABC is making some changes to its lineup following the resolution of the writers strike.
Comedy Home Economics has been canceled after three seasons, and new drama High Potential has been moved to fall 2024.
ABC still has to make decisions on a renewal for The Rookie: Feds and the status of The Good Lawyer, a backdoor-pilot spinoff of The Good Doctor. It passed on four of its pilots in June: Anthony Anderson-fronted Public Defenders and Ellie Kemper-led Keeping It Together, which is a remake of British comedy Motherland, as well as dramas The Hurt Unit, starring Melissa George and Ben McKenzie, and Judgement starring Sex/Life’s Sarah Shahi.

ABC has handed Drew Goddard’s pilot High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson, a series order.
The pickup is not surprising; the drama, based on the popular French detective series Hip (High Intellectual Potential) has been the clear frontrunner among ABC’s crop of 2023 pilots.
It is the only pilot ABC is making a decision ahead of its upfront. The remaining five, dramas The Good Lawyer, The Hurt Unit and Judgment, and comedies Keeping it Together (fka Drop-Off) and Public Defenders, remain in contention.
Networks already have been shifting toward year-round development and have not been doing all of their pilot decisions before upfronts. With the writers strike this year, they are even more cautious, taking a wait-and-see approach given the financial commitment and logistical issues associated with a new series order if the work stoppage stretches over several months. ABC has awhile before the pilot casts’ options are up, and...

"I think between the two of us, we can figure out what happened to him quicker than the cops." Mpca has unveiled an official trailer for Double Life, a mystery thriller made by Canadian filmmaker Martin Wood. Another of these forgettable films that is just being quickly dumped on VOD as more mindless content to consume. The film follows a widow who finds out from her late husband's mistress that his death was not an accident. The two women will form an unlikely alliance to uncover the truth behind his murder and unmask the man they both loved. Of course they're going to end up deeply in trouble way over their heads. Double Life stars Javicia Leslie, Pascale Hutton, Vincent Gale, John Cassini, Aaron Douglas, and Niall Matter. Everything about this looks obvious and cliche, and the twist probably isn't going to be memorable. // Continue Reading ›...

As The Flash hit the midpoint of its final season, a visit from Nia Nal aka Dreamer brought much drama, but also some updates on Supergirl and a few of her superfriends.
For starters — and as set up during Ryan Wilder aka Batwoman’s recent visit to Central City — Nia (played by Supergirl‘s Nicole Maines) showing up unannounced at Central City Citizen Media to ask Iris for help wasn’t entirely random. Because apparently, Iris took Ryan up on her offer and recently — albeit off-screen, grrr — joined Ryan, Nia, Kara Danvers/Supergirl and her sister Alex/Sentinel for mimosa brunch.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Flash Season 9, Episode 5 “The Mask of the Red Death, Part 2.” So if you haven’t watched, hop on a cosmic treadmill and fix your timeline!] Red Death? More like Read for Filth. After weeks of attempting to eradicate Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) for crimes he allegedly committed in her alternate timeline, the red-suited, revenge-driven doppelgänger of Batwoman‘s Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) took her final bow on the Wednesday, March 8 episode of The Flash. Picking up on the heels of last week’s Part 1, the hour saw the villainess felled not by our boy Barry, or even the rogue Rogues he’d amassed as allies, but the actual Ryan herself, in full Batwoman glory. And it was glorious. Dropping out of the sky through a cloud of smoke, cape flapping behind her, Ryan got a well-deserved hero’s entrance and got in some solid shade while battling her lookalike. “Girl, you’...

This Tuesday night, The Flash — and with eight final episodes to spare — at long last delivered on a key part of #WestAllen’s destiny, with the reveal that Iris is pregnant.
Oh, Baby!
Fans probably envisioned the lonnnnng-awaited pregnancy news being delivered a bit (Ok, a lot) differently. Like, Iris finds out on her own, then shares it with the hubs. Instead, the big moment arrived during a Team Flash & Family get-together at Joe and Cecile’s house, after Red Death had been bested and locked up at Argus. (More on that in a sec.)

This Flash article contains spoilers.
The Flash Season 9 Episode 5
As the final season of The Flash barrels toward its endgame, the stakes keep getting higher. “The Mask of the Red Death, Pt. 2” not only sees Barry and Team Flash finally bring the villainous Red Death to justice, but also reveals Iris is pregnant, sees Chester and Allegra finally admit that they’re crazy about one another, and features Khione displaying some sort of strange new healing abilities that save a badly injured Mark Blaine. While these are all the sort of big narrative events that the show normally saves for a season finale, it’s the surprise return of Batwoman heroine Ryan Wilder that likely packs the biggest emotional punch.
With much of The CW Arrowverse wrapping up alongside The Flash’s final season, the fact that the show is managing to include characters from across this superhero universe is incredibly satisfying.

The Flash Season 9 Episode 4
The Flash continues to raise the stakes in its final season, revealing the true identity of the villainous Red Death, putting both Barry and Iris in mortal danger, and unleashing a deranged Ryan Wilder from another timeline on Central City after Team Flash thwarts her efforts to build a cosmic treadmill to send herself home.
Played by Batwoman’s Javicia Leslie, who gets to be both cunning and crazy by turns this week as a Batwoman who was raised by the Waynes and developed a dangerous obsession with her enemies’ technology and a bone-deep hatred of her world’s Flash, Red Death may be a speedster, but she’s certainly not like any villain Team Flash has seen before.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the Season 9 premiere of The Flash on The CW.
The Flash is nearly done fighting crime in Central City — but not before one final villain comes to town.
The CW series’ ninth and final season kicked off Wednesday night with the introduction of some new hurdles for Barry Allen and Team Flash to overcome. The episode begins with Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) getting stuck in a time loop, which exacerbates some of their fears about the passing of time and the lack of control they have over what may or may not happen to them. In order to get out of it, the couple must decide to take on life head on, together — rather than avoiding the problem and each other.
But just when things seem to be settling down again, Barry is faced with yet another bump in the road. Viewers will remember that,...

The Flash Season 9 Episode 1
While The Flash Season 9 premiere was a light-hearted romp of the sort that we haven’t seen on this show in some time, the kick-off to the series’ final run of episodes included more than a few tantalizing hints of what’s to come in the weeks ahead, from new villains to a strange new being—who definitely isn’t Frost—that seems to suddenly be inhabiting the body Caitlin Snow’s body as a result of her trip into her homemade cryochamber.
Although “Wednesday Ever After” introduces former The 100 star Richard Harmon as a new, post-Crisis on Infinite Earths version of Owen Mercer (a.k.a. Captain Boomerang), the episode’s final moments reveal that he’s not working alone and that his literal partner in crime is someone who looks much more familiar—but is likely a whole lot more dangerous.

The Fastest Man Alive is speeding towards the end of his adventures on The CW. The Flash season 9 will mark the conclusion of the long-running Arrow spinoff, which first aired in 2014. The final season will consist of 13 episodes meant to wrap up the story of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen and his extended family of heroes. True to the nature of the expansive superhero universe in which The Flash takes place, the final run of episodes will also provide an opportunity for The CW to bring back characters from the show’s past.
The CW has confirmed that The Flash season 9 will see the return of five major Arrowverse characters, including Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), John Diggle (David Ramsey), and the gruesome villain Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy). The CW is saying goodbye to the Arrowverse with the superhero who started it all.
According to Deadline, Stephen Amell has closed a deal to return for the ninth and final season of The Flash.
The CW broke the exciting news Wednesday, revealing that Amell will appear in the ninth episode of the season.
Amell joins previously announced returning cast members David Ramsey (John Diggle aka Spartan), Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West/Kid Flash), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork).
"As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen," said executive producer Eric Wallace.
"After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin) on his heroic path."
"That's why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver's return in the final season of The Flash.

Producer of “Something From Tiffany’s” Lauren Neustadter credits costars Kendrick Sampson (“Insecure”) and Zoey Deutch, as well as casting director Ronna Kress, with transforming the story of the film, adapted from Melissa Hill’s book that came out over a decade ago.
“I read it when it was in galley [advanced, not finished format] and it’s a delightful book with an A+ movie premise. I immediately gravitated towards the premise of the book,” Neustadter told TheWrap in a recent interview. “I thought the characters were incredibly charming, but it wasn’t the kind of thing where there was a lot of specificity around the roles and the backgrounds of each of the characters. It was written in a bit of a different moment in time, and so we were imagining the script now, and we were imagining making the movie now. It was just something that I think we wanted to make sure that we were incredibly inclusive.

It was written in a bit of a different moment in time, and so we were imagining the script now, and we were imagining making the movie now. It was just something that I think we wanted to make sure that we were incredibly inclusive.
