The trailer for OWN’s forthcoming docuseries, “Rebuilding Black Wall Street,” featuring host Morris Chestnut has been revealed.
Premiering on Sept. 29, the series will follow Chestnut and build teams, led by designers Jon Pierre and Mary Tjon-Joe-Pin (Two Steps Home), as they take viewers through Greenwood’s rich history and the personal journeys of those featured – many of whom are the descendants of original Black Wall Street residents – over the course of six episodes. As new businesses and projects progress, viewers will experience the physical and emotional challenges that come with large-scale construction and celebrate the promise of Greenwood’s future.
On May 31, 1921, Tulsa’s Greenwood District, also referred to as Black Wall Street — a community where Black leaders and entrepreneurs and homeowners thrived, was destroyed by mobs in what has been called the single most horrific incident of racial terrorism since slavery. An estimated 300 people were killed, more than 1,200 homes destroyed,...

A streaming service that centers Black culture and content is emerging out of stealth. Mansa, which has raised $8 million in seed funding, is led by a group of actors and entrepreneurs that includes Emmy nominee David Oyelowo.
At launch, Mansa’s library includes more than 1,500 hours of licensed content. The platform blends several different content formats in one place: Mansa is a cross between a VOD service, a free ad-supported television (Fast) hub, a social network, and a short-form video app.
Film financier Zak Tanjeloff co-founded Mansa alongside actors Oyelowo, Chiké Okonkwo, and Nate Parker. He told TechCrunch that the platform is a “streaming platform for curated global Black culture” that will be delivered “to the world for free.”
Rather than competing with Black-oriented subscription services like BET+ and Allblk, Mansa is catering to consumers in the Fast lane. It has pointed to a 2021 Nielsen study, which found that Black...

The most common question at the annual AmericanaFest – a SXSW-style multi-venue music festival held in Nashville since 2000 – is “what is Americana?” “Diverse” seems to be the answer, after decades of favouritism shown towards white, male country singers.
At the event’s opening awards ceremony, which takes place at The Ryman, aka country music’s “mother church”, the sensational Canadian songwriter Allison Russell picks up a well-deserved Album of the Year for her illuminating solo debut Outside Child. Other gongs go to bluesy husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty, flamboyant gypsy jazz renegade Sierra Ferrell, and the Grammys-conquering LGBT+ icon Brandi Carlile. There’s still room for the old guard, too. Robert Plant, Chris Isaak and Lyle Lovett all make appearances, as does the great Lucinda Williams, while tribute is paid to late honky tonk singer-songwriter Luke Bell, who died last month aged 32.
Aside from the established names, AmericanaFest is also a hotbed of young talent.

For its final season, Stranger Things has gone super-sized. Its episodes are longer, its storylines are multiple, its locations are further flung, and its cast has expanded beyond all reasonable measure. Even allowing for the usual body count replacement rate to fill in the gaps left by last season’s victims of the Upside Down, there are a lot of new faces.
To orient us through the new crowd, here’s an introduction to high school students Eddie, Chrissy, Jason, Argyle, Patrick, Angela, Vickie and their counsellor Ms Kelly; military types Dmitri and Lt. Colonel Sullivan; psychiatric hospital nurse Peter Ballard and resident and nurse Victor Creel, played by none other than A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Robert Englund. And that’s not even all of them…

I’m not sure “Ozark” ever improved upon “Kaleidoscope.” The first season’s eighth episode takes place entirely in flashback, as director Ellen Kuras and writer Ryan Farley bounce between the pivotal choices that precede the Byrdes’ fateful decision to start laundering money. Wendy (Laura Linney) is fighting through an extended depression, brought on by a complicated miscarriage, and she’s doubly frustrated by a job market closed off to a woman who spent a few years having kids. Marty (Jason Bateman), who’s typically mocked for his cautious nature as “the numbers guy,” is being courted by Camino Del Rio (Esai Morales), who wants to hire the Chicago-based financial advisor to handle his accounts, even after (or because) Marty spots suspicious activity on the books.
Conversations continue. Hypothetical scenarios are played out. The allure of greater purpose, financial security, and just a hint of danger — the kind of danger...

Almost an entire year after the third season of “Ozark” was released on Netflix, the gritty crime drama is still raking in nominations for its acclaimed outing. Among these are four Screen Actors Guild Award bids, including one for the show’s cast in Best TV Drama Ensemble. It was previously shortlisted in this category for its second season in 2019 but was bested by “This Is Us” (which was left out of the lineup this year).
The “Ozark” cast is up against the ensembles of two Netflix companions, “Bridgerton” and “The Crown,” AMC’s “Better Caul Saul” and HBO’s “Lovecraft Country.” The defending and only previous champ in the race, “The Crown” has the most noms in this category, having earned citations for all of four of its seasons. Trailing it are “Better Call Saul” and “Ozark” with two bids apiece, which both scored in 2019 and this year. Meanwhile,...

Ten years ago – on 23 May 2010 – Lost broadcast its final ever episode.
Six yeas earlier, its first season following survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 after they crash on a mysterious island somewhere in the South Pacific became one of the most-watched shows in TV history (the season two premiere was watched by a staggering 23.47m viewers). It even went on to pick up the Emmy Award for Best Drama.
What ensued became part of television history. Lost may have dropped millions of viewers over the years, but what it secured was a cult fan-base that hadn’t been seen since The X-Files, and has rarely been seen since. Its many mysteries, ensemble of intriguing characters and jaw-dropping twist endings kept its core viewers on the edge of their seats right through to the divisive ending.
To celebrate the finale’s anniversary, we’ve done the seemingly unthinkable and ranked every single episode.

James Ryan Gary's Devil's Crossing is a post-apocalyptic zombie western that's been looking to score itself distro for a while now. Can this latest piece of sales art do the trick? Seems like kind of a no-brainer to us.
Michael Sharpe, Patrick G. Keenan, Kevin L. Johnson, and Jenny Gulley star.
Synopsis
Nuclear war has ravaged the world. The remnants of humanity fight to survive, taking refuge in bleak settlements. The undead wander the earth, slaves to their bloodlust, or perhaps some higher power? The tattered town of Celestial sets the stage for the greatest battle of the New Dark Age! A score that must be settled and a reckoning that has been 235 years in the making. Shadrach is a man who watched his life burnt to the ground! Left for dead, having sold his soul to the devil with his last dying breath. A slave to the devil.

Dread Central has been airing webisodes of Ghost Trek, a faux reality show lampooning all of the ghost hunting shows on TV today (like a Grave Encounters comedy). They began on 10/8 and now have 3 webisodes up, with a fourth coming next Monday. We recently got our hands on the press release that describes the show and links you to a featurette, trailer and an interview with some cast members from the WWE.
If I’m watching it, it’s because it stars the little zombie girl from The Walking Dead, Addy Miller. I have the trailer below, and the press release is below for your perusal, with links to a sizzle reel, interview with the cast, and a featurette on Ghost Trek: The Kinsey Report. Enjoy!
Trailer:
Do you ever watch those ghost hunting shows and scratch your head, thinking to yourself, “These shows are so ridiculous. Why am I watching this?...

Devil’s Crossing
Stars: Michael Sharpe, Patrick G. Keenan, Kevin L. Johnson, Jenny Gulley | Written and Directed by James Ryan Gary
I found Devil’s Crossing to be a strange film, with a feel of a typical cowboy themed film but set in a modern day feel it surprised me when I read the synopsis and found that it’s set after a nuclear war. This war must have been some time in the close future because there are not many things that look futuristic. If anything they feel like they’ve gone back into the past, which of course may be the whole point, though it was slightly lost on me to a point.
The story is that a drifter moves from town to town killing people on a list. He works for a demon and when he decides one day to just stop, the demon turns up in...

*a screener of this film was provided by Left Films.
Director/writer: James Ryan Gary.
Cast: Michael Sharpe, Patrick G. Keenan, Jenny Gulley and Kevin L. Johnson.
Devil's Crossing is the first film from the very young director James Ryan Gary. Seriously, this guy looks twenty in his interviews. The film is a blend of the western and horror genres as zombies promise to take over the world. Devil's Crossing is similar to other films like the recent Cowboys and Zombies, Olivier Beguin's short film "Dead Bones" and Spencer Estabrooks' "Dead Walkers." All of these are great films including Gary's latest entry. This title will release in the United Kingdom January 30th and it is already available in North America; this reviewer would recommend the film to indie horror fans across the board.
The film begins with the character Shadrach played by Michael Sharpe. He is digging his...
