A Grim Becoming, a strange little horror comedy directed by Adam R. Steigert, has five credited writers on IMDb, something which every film critic knows is almost always a bad sign, however the strongest thing about A Grim Becoming is its freewheeling script.
In terms of tone, the closest thing A Grim Becoming could be compared to is Peter Jackson's Dead Alive. Like that classic horror film, A Grim Becoming features a plot that goes off on random tangents that have little to do with the main story, characters behaving in ways that don't make logical sense, jarring tonal shifts, and situations that aren't the least bit plausible.
I realize that all this may make A Grim Becoming sound like a bad movie, but the pleasure of watching something like Dead Alive or A Grim Becoming comes from the weird, anarchic energy of...

Director Adam R. Steigert has started shooting his dramatic thriller A Grim Becoming. Principal photography began in June of 2013. Shooting ends in September and fans will recognize a few names from the film. A Grim Becoming stars Devanny Pinn (The Lonely Ones), Jessica Cameron (The Black Dahlia Haunting), Melantha Blackthorne (Fable: Teeth of Beasts) and Bill Oberst Jr. (Scary or Die). The film involves multi-million business deals and a death in the family. Competition in the working world is putting Raphael (Brandon Williams) in a vulnerable position. On top of that, he has recently seen someone's souls stolen by the Grim Reaper, which leaves Raphael questioning his own life. A Grim Becoming is expected to release in the Q3 of 2014 and a still has been release from the film. The photo (above) shows actress Pinn as Jamie. The Grim Reaper looms and Jamie's time might be up. My favorite line from this trailer: “The blood and guts fly out….the camera does not stop rolling!”…Well, let’s hope not!
The movie’s lead actor, who is slicing his way through more than half-naked nubile bodies is Bill Oberst Jr. If you were at the screening of the St. Louis-lensed shocker Coyote last month at Mx Theater, you saw that film’s star Mr. Oberst who is currently swinging for the title of “Hardest Working Man In Horror” with no less than twelve major roles in independent horror films this year. Bill’s most famous role was as honest Abe in Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies (2012), which, though not quite as good as Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter, was far superior than that boring-ass Speilberg movie.

A Grim Becoming, a new film from Adam R. Steigert that we've been keeping our eyes on, has found its leading man, and we have all the info for you right here.
From the Press Release:
DefTone Pictures Studios continues to put Buffalo, New York, on the map with its film productions. Currently in pre-production is the company's next feature film: a horror comedy entitled A Grim Becoming, directed by Adam R. Steigert (Ombis 2013) and written by Steigert, Janeen Avery, Christopher Brechtel, and Mark Mendola.
DefTone's search to find the actor to portray the lead character of Raphael is over. Raphael is a young, bitter executive who is on the verge of losing a multimillion dollar architectural deal when a sudden death in his family forces him to return to his home town of Metzburgh. With the role of Raphael depending a lot on an actor’s physical abilities, casting the role was a challenge.
