Even though hardcore Addams Family fans had very low expectations before the show's release, Netflix's Wednesday turned out to be a quality show, being a hilarious horror comedy with enough satire, drama and, needless to say, the supernatural.
And soon, the second season will start its active production phase, so the streaming service is rushing to please us with some intriguing details. So, a year after the renewal, during Tudum in January 2024, it was officially revealed that in addition to Jenna Ortega, the second season will star Emma Myers, Joy Sunday and none other than Hunter Doohan, who appeared in the first season as Tyler Galpin, the son of the local sheriff, the romantic interest of Wednesday and ultimately a threat to Nevermore and all of Jericho, being a dangerous monster Hyde.

“Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”
When Charles Addams was helping turn his amusing gothic New Yorker cartoons into a television series, the little girl needed a name, and he used a line from an old-time children’s poem. He’d been at the drawing board with these characters since 1938, although Gomez and Morticia’s daughter didn’t arrive until 1944. At different times, she was older or younger than her sibling, Pugsley.
Ever since her arrival, Wednesday has been a fixture, her pale skin, pig-tailed black hair, and solemn expression imprinted on future generations of Goth girls. From Lisa Loring to Christina Ricci, the live-action look has endured as the character has aged from her purported six years old in the original series pilot to 18 in the 2010 Broadway musical adaptation.

J.R. was waiting in line with maybe 200 fellow fans to spend a moment getting the autograph of – and perhaps taking a selfie with – Christina Ricci, the actress who made her debut in the “Addams Family” movies in the 1990s who is now an Emmy-nominated star on the Showtime series “Yellowjackets” as well as a regular on Netflix’s “Wednesday.” The setting on Saturday was the Hollywood Autograph Show at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, a three-times-a-year movie and memorabilia event where fans can come to lay eyes on some old-time celebrity favorites, get their name in ink, pose for a selfie and maybe pick up a book or vintage photograph.
Eighty or so celebrities staked out tables to sign their name and pix for a fee. J.R. was one of those who got hooked on attending these shows a few years back and now never misses one.

One of actor Devon Sawa’s first feature film roles was in Christina Ricci’s Casper. But the actor recently shared that he might not have even been in the film if it wasn’t for Ricci’s help.

Sawa has become a prominent actor in his own right. He’s grown his star-power through features like Final Destination and The Exorcism of Molly Hartley. He’s recently returned to the horror genre by appearing in SyFy’s Chucky series. But his feature film career started with the 1995 movie Casper, which was based on the classic animated television show. Sawa famously made an appearance as the friendly ghost in his human form. And it was all thanks to his co-star Ricci.

Christina Ricci has been in the entertainment industry for long enough to establish her comfort level when it comes to filming sex scenes. The actor spoke candidly about how she doesn’t particularly enjoy them. This preference once could have landed her in legal trouble. The Yellowjackets star explained that while working on a project, she refused to film a sex scene. The boundary nearly got her sued.
Christina Ricci said she was threatened with a lawsuit when she refused to film a sex scene
In an appearance on The View, Ricci spoke about how film and television sets have changed over the years. Actors can state firm boundaries and have them respected by the crew and their co-stars. This wasn’t always possible in the near past.
“It’s really great,” she said, per Variety. “Us older ladies talk about it all the time. It’s amazing to see...

Just in time for the start of spooky season, rapper/singer Doja Cat has released her music video for the single “Demons,” and it’s one video that horror fans won’t want to miss.
Christina Ricci stars in “Demons,” which is essentially a short horror movie that casts the fan-favorite actress as a single mother who’s just moved into a terrifying haunted house.
The terror begins with a sleep paralysis nightmare, and it ends with Ricci and her kids fleeing the house Poltergeist-style. In between, well, Doja Cat’s demons roam free in the house.
You can watch “Demons” below, which also features an homage to one of the most iconic moments in Kubrick’s The Shining plus more references to Tobe Hooper’s Poltergeist.
The track is from the album “Scarlet,” available September 22.
“Demons” was directed by Christian Breslauer & Doja Cat.

The Grammy-winning artist released the third single from her forthcoming Scarlet album on Friday, and brought in Nineties scream queen Christina Ricci to help usher in the accompanying music video.
Like Doja’s recent work, the visual for “Demons” is a stunning flex of macabre with homages to 1982’s Poltergeist and that one unforgettable, truly terrifying bathtub scene from The Shining. Is there anything the French don’t do well? If you’ve seen Benjamin Rocher’s sequel to the 2015 action-drama The Squad, I bet you’d agree it’s time we gave French action flicks, and rap music too, for that matter, a fair shot at wooing us. Steadily bolstered by the slapstick elements that add an extra dosage of warmth to the uniquely emotional narrative, The Squad: Home Run revives the adorably quirky cop Niels Cartier’s amusing shenanigans one more time. Here’s how Cartier’s bizarre hunt for his wife’s killers goes down in The Squad: Home Run.

[This story contains major spoilers from the season two finale of Yellowjackets, “Storytelling.”]
The second season of Yellowjackets brought with it a tragic ending for one of the core castmates of the Showtime survival series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson.
In the season finale, which released May 25, Juliette Lewis’ character, adult Natalie, was accidentally killed by Misty (Christina Ricci) during a wilderness reunion gone very wrong between the adult survivors of the 1996 plane crash that stranded the Yellowjackets soccer team when they were teenagers for 19 months, pushing them to cannibalism and other violence in order to survive. The series, which flips back and forth from 1996 to present day (and briefly introduced a third timeline of when the team is rescued), has featured Lewis as a series regular from the start. She makes up the core foursome of Natalie (Lewis), Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Taissa (Tawney Cypress) and Misty, with Lottie (Simone Kessell) and Van (Lauren Ambrose) having expanded the adult survivors in season two.

This post contains spoilers for the "Yellowjackets" season 2 finale.
"The wilderness chose." For the characters of "Yellowjackets," this simple phrase is a means of equivocating, the way a person might gloss over something bad by saying, "It is what it is." In the show's flashback scenes, that means girls' soccer players hunting and cannibalizing their teammates in the wilderness where their plane has crashed. Some of them, like the adult Lottie (Simone Kessell), believe the wilderness is a dark force that follows them back to civilization and demands appeasement even in a place where cannibalism is no longer necessary for survival. Others, like Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), believe Lottie is crazy, and they have only themselves to blame for the continuing murder and mayhem in their lives.
Christina Ricci, for one, sees the wilderness as a convenient out for her character, Misty, as she deals with the guilt of having killed her best friend,...

This post contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of "Yellowjackets."
"Yellowjackets" is the type of show that's able to elicit a half-dozen different emotions from viewers in the span of just a few minutes. One second, you can be laughing at Jeff (Warren Kole) as he laments that he won't be able to Google himself anymore if he goes on the run, and the next you can be gasping over Kevyn's (Alex Wyndham) death. The show is often scary, funny, and often deeply emotional, but arguably no episode has been more downright heartbreaking than last night's finale.
The hour saw multiple deaths, losses, and changes of fortune for the Yellowjackets, from the aforementioned poisoning of Kevyn to the fire that engulfed the hunting lodge to the crowning of teen Natalie as the new antler queen. Decades later, though, we also saw grown-up Natalie (Juliette Lewis) meet her end, as she...

The Season 2 finale of “Yellowjackets” left us with dropped jaws — and a lot of questions. We still don’t know who “pit girl” is, but we did see how things escalate to the point where the survivors began hunting each other to stay alive.
Although, as creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson told TheWrap before the Season 2 premiere, not every question will be answered. Said Nickerson, when asked if he minded the comparisons to the often frustrating “Lost”: “I don’t always want everything to be answered. Like, I do and I don’t, because so much of what made ‘Lost’ so engrossing was the mystery, not just the mystery of what happened, but the sort of reclamation of the spookiness of being alive. You can’t give all the answers and maintain that spookiness.”
With that in mind, here are some of the most pressing issues that still need to be answered.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from “Storytelling,” the Season 2 finale of “Yellowjackets,” now streaming on Showtime.
The second season of “Yellowjackets” has come to a dark and twisted end. In the 1996 timeline, teen Lottie (Courtney Eaton) handed over the role of leader of the wilderness to Natalie (Sophie Thatcher), as all the young girls bowed to her, confirming she was, in fact, the Antler Queen. However, the celebration was cut short as a fire sparked in the middle of the night. While everyone escaped, the group was left standing outside in the snow, watching flames encapsulate their home.
In the present timeline, the group once again drew cards to see who the wilderness wanted — an idea suggested by Lottie (Simone Kessell). Before they performed this old ritual, Natalie (Juliette Lewis) warned the rest of the residents to leave, including Lisa (Nicole Maines), to whom she had grown close throughout...

One of the most exciting parts of "Yellowjackets" season 2, which premiered on March 26, is the addition of Elijah Wood as Walter. Showtime (via Yahoo!) describes his character as "a dedicated Citizen Detective who will challenge Misty in ways she won't see coming." He has an equal passion for sleuthing and true crime, and he accompanies Misty on her investigation of Natalie's whereabouts after she was kidnapped by a mysterious group in season 1.
It is unclear if Walter and Misty will be romantic interests, but their playful interactions and quirky qualities will certainly bring some lightheartedness to the grim series. "The journey that we're on in this particular season is really funny. The show's dark and gnarly and a lot of what we got to do together was kind of like the comic relief," Elijah Wood explains in Entertainment Tonight. In the days of yore, before Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook conquered the world and decreed that every post has the potential to be seen by millions of people, denizens of the internet used to roam the loamy and pacific pastures of chatrooms like AOL and IRC, and self-publishing sites like LiveJournal and the Angelfire platform in search of like-minded enthusiasts to share pop culture theories. Deprived of the sunlight of public attention, these theories grew in strange and fantastic ways — and, if memory serves, often quite horrible ways too.

With an array of talent featuring Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis as just some of the adult Yellowjackets who managed to survive their time stranded in the forest, the series also spotlights incredible work from their younger counterparts as well. The already impressive group of actors is expanding in season 2 with the grown-up version of Lottie (Simone Kessell) debuting as a new-age cult leader in the premiere and actor Lauren Ambrose ("Six Feet Under") will be appearing at some point in a substantial role as adult Van, the fan-favorite character played by Liv Hewson in the 1996 timeline.

“Yellowjackets” has broken a new record with its Season 2 opener. Following its March 26 premiere, the series became Showtime’s most-streamed debut ever, hitting nearly 2 million viewers across platforms according to figures from Nielsen, comScore, and Showtime’s internal streaming data. “Dexter: New Blood” previously held the title.
Showtime also boasts that it’s the best Season 2 premiere for the network in more than 10 years and nearly double the series premiere audience. The debut marks a 110% rise in viewership from the series premiere in November 2021 and 40% jump from “Yellowjackets” Season 1 finale in cross-platform viewing.
“’Yellowjackets’ broke records as the most streamed Showtime debut ever thanks to Ashley, Bart, Jonathan and our extraordinary ensemble cast who brought season two to even greater heights,” said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks. “By tapping into our proven strategy of promoting series across our full portfolio of brands at Paramount Media Networks,...

Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci are the starring returning foursome, while their teen versions are played by Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse and Samantha Hanratty, respectively. Season 2 of the Showtime series Yellowjackets (read our review of the new season Here) is scheduled to begin airing on Showtime on March 26th, but fans can also catch the first episode of season 2 streaming and On Demand as of today. As we head into the second season, Showtime has unveiled two cool pieces of marketing that’s very fitting for a show that partially takes place in 1996: a ’90s-style MTV News video (complete with Kurt Loder!) that covers the news of the disappearance of the titular Yellowjackets, and directs viewers to a ’90s-style website, WhereAretheYellowjackets.com. If you were watching MTV or surfing the web back in the ’90s, these marketing materials will definitely press your nostalgia buttons. The MTV News video can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Among the fundamental questions of Yellowjackets is how much trauma does or doesn’t change a person. The Showtime drama largely takes place in two timelines: one showing the immediate aftermath of a plane crash that stranded a high school girls’ soccer team in the remote Canadian wilderness, the other catching up to the survivors in the present day. Some of them, like overeager Misty (Samantha Hanratty in the Nineties, Christina Ricci in the present), seem more or less the same in both eras. Then there are the ones like...

Christina Ricci has said that being a child actor was an “escape” from her “horrendous” childhood.
Talking about her experience of entering the industry so young – she first became famous for playing Wednesday Addams in 1991’s The Addams Family when she was 11 years old – the actor said: “When I first started, and still as an adult, this career has always been an escape for me.”
She told US publication Entertainment Tonight: “As a kid, it was an escape from, like, a horrendous childhood and just getting to go away – be in hotels and be on set and be with other adults and be valued.
“All the little things that sort of are negative about the industry and the career, they’ve always been things that I’ve just been like, ‘Well, real life is worse.’”
Ricci, 43, has previously alleged that she suffered child abuse from members of her family.

[This story contains spoilers for the season two premiere of Yellowjackets, “Friends, Romans, Countrymen.”]
Two months have passed when Yellowjackets returns to the wilderness. Two whole months since the teen survivors of a plane crash suffered the loss of one of their own — and hunted their last source of food.
The second season of Showtime’s hit coming-of-age survival series opened with the 1996 timeline to show how teen Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) and her teammates are handling the death of Jackie (Ella Parnell), who froze to death when she slept outside following a brutal fight with best friend Shauna that led to the team exiling her from the house they’ve inhabited heading into winter.
The short answer for Shauna is, not well. Clearly wrecked with remorse over Jackie dying (a cold front swept in overnight after Shauna instigated her banishment), Shauna has decided to keep Jackie’s corpse around for conversations and even dress-up. While the scenes mark an exciting return for actress Parnell,...

[This story contains spoilers from the first season of Showtime’s Yellowjackets.]
The Yellowjackets are not Ok.
The finale of Showtime’s hit survival drama Yellowjackets has left viewers in a collective state of worry for the present-day characters played by Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Tawny Cypress and Christina Ricci. After the past timeline showed the audience what they did — and warned about where they are headed — the January 2022 ending signaled that the darkness and repressed trauma of their past is ever-present.
For a refresher on the present-day timeline, Shauna (Lynskey) lied to cover up her murder of Adam (Peter Gadiot) after her affair. All four women showed up to their 25-year high school reunion shortly after dismembering and disposing of the scapegoat, following Jeff’s (Warren Kole) confession to wife Shauna that he was the one blackmailing the Yellowjackets survivors and in need of money. The secret reconciles Shauna and Jeff — even as they see Adam declared missing on the local news.

In baseball, scouts like to talk about pitching prospects in terms of mechanics.
There are pitchers who have repeatable mechanics: Their windup and delivery is the same every time, which reduces the chances of injury and facilitates easy and simple corrections.
Then there are pitchers with herky-jerky mechanics: There’s a violence and irregularity to the way they throw, which can sometimes yield more spin or more speed. But it means that in some games they just won’t have their rhythm, and the risk of blowing out an elbow or whatever is far greater. Maybe that career-ending blowout will never come and maybe it’ll come tomorrow. You never know.
HBO’s Succession is a show with repeatable mechanics. Not to be reductive, but it’s rich people who go to rich-people places and say “fuck” a lot. Give me that cast and that creative team and I’m going to assume steady execution,...

That noise you hear is the Best Drama Actress Emmy category emptying out this year. Of last year’s six nominees, only one, “Yellowjackets” star Melanie Lynskey, is back in the running. Reigning champ Zendaya (“Euphoria”) and Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show”) are missing this cycle, while Laura Linney (“Ozark”) and “Killing Eve” duo Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh competed for the final time for their concluded shows. Assuming Lynskey is safely in — she’s in first in the odds — there are five spots up for grabs. Could she have some company this year from her co-stars Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress? If they join Lynskey in the lineup, it’ll mark the first time one show has yielded three nominees in the category in a single year.
Eleven shows have produced two nominees, including “Killing Eve” (Comer and Oh), “Six Feet Under” (Frances Conroy and Rachel Griffiths), “The Sopranos...

Christina Ricci says that things have come a long way for actresses in Hollywood, especially when it comes to setting boundaries around intimacy scenes.
The Wednesday actress recently appeared on The View to promote the second season of Showtime’s hit series Yellowjackets. While there, she reflected how the show’s older actresses frequently talk about the ways the younger actresses — who portray the teen versions of the show’s leading female ensemble — have more of a voice and the power to advocate for themselves on sets.
“It’s amazing to see that they don’t necessarily have to go through things that we had to go through,” Ricci said. “They’re able to say, ‘I don’t want to do this sex scene. I’m not going to be naked.’ They can set boundaries for themselves that we were never allowed to do.”

Christina Ricci has said that she was once threatened with legal action for refusing to film a sex scene “in a certain way”.
The former child star made her screen debut aged eight, before rising to fame as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family when she was 10. When she was older, Ricci went on to appear in films such as Casper, Buffalo ‘66 and Black Snake Moan.
On Thursday (16 March), Ricci was a guest on US show The View, where she spoke with admiration about her young female co-stars on the hit drama Yellowjackets.
“It’s really great,” she told the panel. “Us older ladies talk about it all the time.

Plot: The Yellowjackets barely made it through summer, but now as winter begins to bite, we’ll see if hunger and desperation turn into full-on psychosis. Meanwhile, 25 years later, each survivor must determine if the darkness is coming for them or from them.
Review: Yellowjackets was one of the bigger surprises on television last year. A blend of Mean Girls and Lord of the Flies, the Showtime survival/thriller series had a solid cast and built buzz over its bloody first season, securing a second season renewal after airing just five episodes. With a third season already greenlit, the five-year plan for the New Jersey soccer team forced to band together in the Canadian wilderness is closer to reality. Like any successful series, the sophomore run can be the most challenging, with some stories succumbing to going too big far too quickly. Luckily, Yellowjackets returns for a second season that...

The first season of “Yellowjackets” definitely hit a nerve with its inspired combination of “Now and Then,” “Lord of the Flies” and “Alive”; the series quickly became one of Showtime’s most successful ever, with about 5 million viewers tuning in each week.
The inspired premise of a group of plane crash survivors — told in the “then” and “now” — was only enhanced by the stellar cast who brought it to life, like Melanie Lynskey as Shauna, now a suburban mom and housewife with homicidal impulses; Juliette Lewis as the edgy, extremely damaged grown-up Natalie; and Christina Ricci as the obsessive Misty, who was basically to blame for the entire disaster, as her teenage self (Samantha Hanratty) was enjoying the camaraderie of the girls’ life in the wild so much that she destroyed the plane’s black box to prevent the team from getting rescued in the first place.

When I first saw Yellowjackets' first episode of season 1, I was blown away by the story, cast ensemble, and the show's ability to dazzle with just one episode. Season 2, and especially its first and second episodes, masterfully prepare you for what appears to be the hungrier, gorier, and most shocking season of Yellowjackets yet.
The action picks up some time after the season 1’s conclusion. Two months have passed since Misty gave all the survivors psychedelic mushrooms, two months since Jackie (Ella Purnell) froze to death. As Daisy von Scherler Mayer and Rich Monahan's "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" begins, it’s evident how two months without civilization has already affected a soccer team. Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) and Travis (Kevin Alves) try to forage for food, others prepare it while Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) struggles to accept her best friend's brutal death. At the same time, in the present, the survivors of...

Early in “Yellowjackets” Season 2, Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) is still explaining her ill-fated affair to her sweet but simple-minded hubby, Jeff (Warren Kole). He needs a little extra time to process why Shauna did what she did, since Jeff is the kind of guy who gets jacked up over selling a three-piece sofa set; a bro-prince so entrenched in suburbia he resorts to blackmail in order to save his furniture store; a man whose mind is blown not by the fact that his wife of 25 years was having sex with someone else, but by her cover story — a fictional book club made iconic by Jeff’s reaction to its absence.
After another excellent, soon-to-be-meme’d Jeff line, Shauna takes a breath, digs deep, and tells her puppy dog of a partner, “It wasn’t about you. It made me feel like I didn’t know what was going to happen, and I liked that.

The first season of Showtime's "Yellowjackets" enthralled a lot of viewers for good reason. The series, which could be inadequately summed up as "The Lord of the Flies" but with a 1990s high school girls' soccer team, successfully blended "Lost"-like mystery (with a hint of potential cannibalism) with the angst, anger, and trauma of often comes with being a teenage girl.
The "Yellowjackets" season 1 finale answered a few of the questions viewers spent weeks on subReddits trying to parse out. It mostly, however, left a slew of things unanswered. Back in 1996, those who are still alive after the plane crash are facing an ominous winter, while the four survivors we know about in the present day have come together to try to cover up an accidental murder. Season 1, in what has become expected "Yellowjackets" fashion, also ended on more than one cliffhanger. And even though we know from casting...

Christina Ricci revealed Wednesday that as a young actress she was once threatened with legal action for pushing back against filming an intimate scene in a specific way.
The “Yellowjackets” star’s admission came during her appearance on “The View,” as she and the hosts were discussing the strides that have been made in Hollywood for young actresses. Ricci started acting at a young age, becoming a household names thanks to projects like “Casper” and her take on Wednesday Addams in “The Addams Family” and its sequel.
