House was a ratings success for Fox for years but the network hasn't had a hit medical series since then. Will Red Band Society break that trend and be renewed for a second season? Will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
A dramedy, Red Band Society revolves around the young patients and caretakers of the pediatric ward of the renowned Ocean Park Hospital in Los Angeles. The cast includes Octavia Spencer, Dave Annable, Griffin Gluck, Nolan Sotillo, Charlie Rowe, Astro, Zoe Levin, Ciara Bravo, Mandy Moore, and Rebecca Rittenhouse.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- typically the following morning, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest. (more…)...

To little surprise, it looks like Fox is pulling the plug on Red Band Society. The Wednesday night drama will be dropped from the schedule in December and production will be shut down after the initial 13 episodes have been completed.

Red Band Society, Season 1, Episodes 2-5
Airs Wednesdays at 9pm Et on Fox
The first quarter of the premiere season of Red Band Society has featured some very strong character moments throughout a narrative that has been, at times, emotionally manipulative. The episodes are often inconsistent with one another, which makes this series feel more episodic than serialized. The pilot episode introduced the main cast and their situations, with the kids more developed than the adults, but as the season has progressed and the stories between the two age groups have intertwined, both sides have gained and lost character momentum respectively. The relationships frequently fail to grow organically, with the character motivations mostly hard to pin down. The questions raised in the pilot episode continue to be addressed, but to a degree that is not fully satisfying, merely confirming information that the audience already has. Although the season’s start...

Make way for the hospital's new diva! Former Disney darling Bella Thorne is set to guest star on Fox's freshman drama Red Band Society, E! News has exclusively learned. The Shake It Up star will play Delaney Shaw, an extremely popular pop star who will check into Ocean Park Hospital for "exhaustion." (We all know what that really means, right?!) But it seems like Delaney isn't too exhausted as the trainwreck will get involved with two (!) of our Red Band boys. Better keep a close eye on Jordi (Nolan Sotillo) and Leo (Charlie Rowe), Emma (Ciara Bravo)! Or could Dash (Astro) finally be getting a love interest (and triangle) of his very own? Aside from Shake It Up, Thorne...

As you may have noticed, Fox has been having a tough time establishing new dramatic TV series. Last season's Almost Human was cancelled. Sleepy Hollow was renewed but is now struggling. If our decade-long relationship with Grey's Anatomy has taught us anything it's that hospitals are where romances are born. Continuing this trend? Fox's new drama Red Band Society, which already has not one, but two love triangles heating up in a major way in Wednesday's all-new episode, and we've got your exclusive first look at all of the romance drama. Not only will the love triangle between Emma (Ciara Bravo), Leo (Charlie Rowe) and Jordi (Nolan Sotillo) finally reach its breaking point, but Dr. McAndrew (Dave Annable), aka the hottest doctor to ever doctor on TV (Sorry, McDreamy!), will also find himself at the center of a love triangle. One of the sweetest things about the series premiere of Fox's "Red Band Society" was the friendship that developed when Leo (Charlie Rowe) took Jordi (Nolan Sotillo) under his wing at Ocean Park Hospital.
As Jordi was gearing up for a surgery that would remove his leg, Leo became a mentor -- someone Jordi could talk to frankly -- a friend who would help him through the tough times, and even the type of person who was Ok with it when Jordi got close to the young lady Leo previously had a romantic connection with -- Emma. Red Band Society Review
The new Fox effort, Red Band Society is the kind of show that gives you a new jolt of hope for television, but also leaves you fearful… because you’ve watched TV before.
The first thing you’ll notice about the trailers and promos for the show is the shortage of adults, but you probably won’t believe a non-cable network series will be brave enough to let the post-teens fade into the background. Thankfully, what seems obvious isn’t the case. Even with notable names like Octavia Spencer and Dave Annable serving as head nurse and the nation’s top pediatric surgeon, they aren’t around that much.
The show is about a group of young patients living in a hospital, who have some serious illnesses and/or are generally not in a great state of health. The series kicks off with Jordi (Nolan Sotillo...

For the hospital kids of Red Band Society, death may be around the corner, but life is just beginning.
Set in the children's ward of a Los Angeles hospital, Red Band Society (premieres Wednesday, 9/8c, Fox) is about an unlikely group of friends who've come together — some begrudgingly — to face their life-threatening sicknesses. Zoe Levin, Charlie Rowe, Brian "Astro" Bradley, Ciara Bravo and Nolan Sotillo make up the Breakfast Club-like gang, while Griffin Gluck stars as a coma patient from whose perspective and narrative the story is told.

Among the main characters of Fox's new drama "Red Band Society" (Wednesday at 9 p.m.), two suffer from cancer, one needs a heart transplant, and one is in a prolonged coma. All of them are 16 years old or younger. Fictional stories about seriously ill people are already fraught with emotion. When the ill people are kids, the inherent emotions are so overwhelming that a storyteller has to either address them head-on or work around them. You can heighten everything else to try to equal the feeling of tragedy and wasted potential, or you can underplay everything to keep the story from drowning in sadness. "Red Band Society," adapted by Margaret Nagle from the Spanish-language series “Polseres Vermelles," tries both approaches at once, with mixed but mostly promising results. If it can pull back on some of its excesses — if it can be the good version of "Glee," rather than the bad version,...

Rebecca Rittenhouse is stuck between worlds on Fox's "Red Bad Society." Set in and around the pediatric ward at a hospital, sets up the patients and the health care providers. The kids are played by network TV relative newcomers like Nolan Sotillo, Zoe Levin, Ciara Bravo, Charlie Rowe and Brian "Astro" Bradley. The grown-ups, in contrast, are led by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, frequent TV regular Dave Annable and Wilson Cruz, who only played one of the pivotal characters on one of the pivotal teen dramas in history. Rebecca Rittenhouse, however, is going to be a fresh face to nearly everybody checking out "Red Band Society," which premieres on Wednesday (September 17) night on Fox. She has fewer screen credits than most of the young stars of "Red Band Society," but she's also in a position of some on-screen authority as Nurse Brittany. It's an appropriate position for Rittenhouse. Her character...

Chicago – If your ideal vision of prom is best represented by “Carrie,” then odds are Disney’s “Prom” is not for you. In fact, if you are a high schooler, were a high schooler or may become a high schooler, “Prom” is guaranteed to strike you as monumentally childish. It’s the sort of harmless dreck so mediocre and generic that it could’ve been made in any time period. In a sense, it’s timeless dreck.
See if this sounds familiar: a perky popular overachiever finds herself falling for the long-haired brooding loser with a motorcycle and a criminal record. “He’s a rude, arrogant menace!” she shouts early in the film, thus solidifying that she will undoubtedly end up in his arms at the final fade-out. Seriously, how many “Breakfast Club” retreads and Disneyfied teenage dramas does the human race need?

Prom is one of those films that comes along every once in a while with the general purpose of proving yet again that John Hughes was (not counting anything after 1990) a God, and moreover that the "era" spanning roughly 1986-1994 was perhaps the greatest time to grow up in all of history.
As a High School effort, focusing on a lot of angst, relationship woes, rebels, and a philosophic geek who can't get a date, you'd lean toward only the John Hughes reference, but the film features a star (Thomas McDonell) giving a circa-early-90s Johnny Depp impression, and it's best effort at song is a cover of a song by The Cranberries.
The upshot is that, while we need to create new material for those who aren't going to revisit "oldies," we're exceedingly aware that teen angst entertainment has been perfected, and the only move now is to recreate and redistribute it,...

This is the Pure Movies review of Prom, by Suki Ferguson. Prom is directed by Joe Nussbaum and starring Aimee Teegarden, Thomas McDonell, DeVaughn Nixon, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang, Jared Kusnitz, Nolan Sotillo, Cameron Monaghan and Kylie Bunbury. Back in the days of yore, when I was a pre-teen girl, I was supposed to be reading magazines like Mizz - wholesome, girlish publications about pastel-coloured hair clips and blue-eyed boyband members. In reality, my friends and I were reading Just17, which sometimes included raunchy advice about gauging your bra size and how to flirt with your extremely hypothetical date. Meanwhile, actual 17 year old girls were reading Cosmopolitan's sex technique tips, and putting them into practice. (Just who was actually reading Mizz, then? I have no idea.) My point is simply this: no tweenage girl wants to watch a film about being a tweenage girl. They know that sex will be...

When I got the chance to see Joe Nussbaum’s new dramedy, Prom, I knew I was going to get all the cliche high-school scenarios that could be placed into an hour and a half thrown my way. What I didn’t expect was actually Enjoying it!
Sure, it was predictable and silly. Yes, I’ve been-there-done-that. But if this is Disney’s answer to the crying pre-teens who miss Zac Efron and the rest of the High School Musical bunch, then I am so buyin’ it.
Nussbaum takes us through the whirl-wind that is “prom season” with several different students that are dealing with the typical dilemmas that occur around that time. We’ve got the sophomore struggling with his first big crush, the forever-couple planning their college futures, the naive girl with the skeezy boyfriend, and the focal point, Nova Prescott (played by Friday Night Lights beauty Aimee Teegarden...

Chicago – There are many essential questions in life. What is my purpose? How do I find my place in the universe? Where did I put my mobile phone? But the most important of all, as Aimee Teegarden is about to experience, is who will I get to take me to “Prom.”
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Prom, a new film produced by Walt Disney Pictures, is old school. It’s not set in another time, it is set within a former teen movie framework. In the tradition of director John Hughes, Prom portrays high school as a character challenge, with all the highs, lows, heartaches and the strange hope that a transition of life has been achieved.
Nova (Aimee Teegarden) is little Miss Perfect. She’s class president, scholarship student and of course, head of the Prom Committee. Her world is turned upside down when the meticulous decorations for the ‘Starry Night’ theme are...

Prom is pretty self explanatory. The film follows a group of teenagers from the same high school around the end of the year. Some are a little more excited about the big dance than others, and some are too young to go, but they still have to be surrounded by a school filled with prom-fever!
Of course, there needs to be some sort of a base, so the story mainly revolves around Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), a goody two-shoes who has worked her tail off to get into Georgetown on a full scholarship. She is class president, a phenomenal student, and head of the prom committee. When a fire destroys all of the decorations that she and her committee worked so hard on, she is stuck rebuilding everything by herself… or so she thought. In a way to get back at a delinquent student, Principal Dunnan (Jere Burns) forces bad...

How well do you remember your high school prom? No matter how good or bad the experience, yours likely could easily have been one of the various story lines in Disney’s newest live-action endeavor, “Prom” (written by Katie Wech and directed by Joe Nussbaum).
The film follows several high school students as the few weeks left before their senior prom tick away. Nova (Aimee Teegarden) — senior class president, head of the prom-planning committee and all-around good girl — wants to have the ideal prom experience, one where the cliques and torrid relationships of high school melt away “for one perfect moment.” Her plans are thwarted when a...

The first act of Prom verges on insufferable – capped off by a quickfire montage of boys asking girls to the big dance in the most gimmicky ways possible, so rapidly presented that it may trigger Ptsd in anyone who had a bad prom experience. However, it does get better, especially as the film settles into itself and its large pool of characters. There’s no Love Actually tie-in tricks here - some of the characters in the film know each other and have connecting stories, some don’t. The link is that they all attend the same high school and are all having some sort of issue creating a positive prom experience.

Disney's Prom opens April 29. It stars Aimee Teegarden, Thomas McDonell, DeVaugh Nixon, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang, Nolan Sotillo, and more. Joe Nussbaum directs a script from Katie Wech. Reviews, picture and the trailer are below. Let's start with Marshall Fine's review, in which he states that "girls need this kind of princess-y tale the way boys need adventure stories; it’s a rite of passage." Thank you, for another reminder of what's wrong with gender imbalances in the media and the messages we're sending to children. At least the stars have "sweet, unaffected chemistry," according to TimeOut's Keith Uhlich. With lighting like this, how could they not? But Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles already nailed the hate=love formula in 1999's Ten Things I Hate About ...

Well, that rice krispy treat sat on a buffet table at a party in the movie Prom and the thought of a student eating that tainted treat was the most emotionally stimulating point of the film. Think that was intentional? Who’s ready for that magical time of year, Prom? Well, these...

It's not just the college-bound seniors who get wrapped up in prom every year-- juniors, sophomores and even freshmen can hold out hope that they'll be invited by an upperclassman, or at least get in some of the pre-prom excitement. In Disney's Prom coming out this Friday, Danielle Campbell, Nolan Sotillo and Cameron Monaghan play three hopeful sophomores, though Danielle has higher hopes for prom than most-- she plays Simone Daniels, a sweet and slightly naive girl who's been dating the school's most popular jock Tyler (DeVaughn Nixon), who swears he's about to break up with his girlfriend and take Simone to prom intend. Nolan and Cameron play two guys with slightly different things on their mind-- their characters Lucas and Corey are best friends with big plans to see their favorite band, Stick Hippo, on the night of prom. But their stories come together thanks to Lucas's giant crush...

Ah, prom, that yearly event that forces boys into tuxedos, girls into gowns and parents into renting limos. It’s a carefree, lighthearted final romp with your high school classmates before you’re off to college or jobs or whatever else comes after graduation. Or, if you listen to television and movies, it’s the single most transcendent evening that will ever grace the life of a young person (bar/bah mitzvahs be damned!).
This is most certainly the case for Disney’s Prom, a movie whose all-caps title shows just how much is at stake. The film opens with voice-over provided by Nova Prescott (Amiee Teegarden, from the Friday Night Lights television series) explaining that prom is the apex of all things high school, spoken over a montage of photos of the cast as they go through their fictional high school careers. It’s indicative of the film to come,...

Disney is ready for Prom to be it's next High School Musical. The movie, which was made to depict high school life without music numbers or anticipating a sports competition, has a follow-up in the works from the same screenwriter (Katie Wech) which could serve as a sequel if Prom opens strong next week.
Prom is about high school students, some seniors, some sophomores, as they prepare for the big dance. A sequel could follow the sophomores (Danielle Campbell, Raini Rodriguez, Cameron Monaghan, Nolan Sotillo) the following year.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures released a 2 and a half minutes musical mash up of the upcoming film “Prom.” Here is the official synopsis: “At ‘Prom,’ every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; ‘Prom’ portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events.
