The 100 took a break from its regularly scheduled programming on Wednesday to tell the story of the Second Dawn, filling in a few key blanks about Shepherd Bill, the death of Becca Franco and the reason Clarke & Co. found bunker banners all the way on Nakara. (Ok, maybe more than a few blanks were filled.)
Our story begins on the (first) last night of the world. A young rebel named Callie Cadogan (played by Iola Evans) is once again arguing with her parents about what she plans to do with her future, a dramatic exchange they’ve clearly played out numerous times already.

While multiplexes may not be opening any time soon, that doesn’t mean genre fans still don’t have other means to take in new horror films these days. Here’s a look at a pair of recent indie movies that I had the chance to check out: We Summon the Darkness from Marc Meyers (My Friend Dahmer) and Witches in the Woods by director Jordan Barker.
We Summon the Darkness: As someone who lived through the Satanic Panic of the ’80s and early ’90s, Marc Myers’ ode to heavy metal lifestyles, We Summon the Darkness, was 100 percent my jam. A brutal and surprising bloodbath that managed to subvert any expectations I had going into it, We Summon the Darkness may stumble a bit here and there tonally, but ultimately delivers a wickedly fun time all the same.
The story follows Alexis (Alexandra Daddario) and her two best pals,...

YouTube has opted not to continue with one of its three remaining original scripted series, supernatural thriller Impulse, which has been canceled after two seasons. The decision was made five months after the October release of Season 2.
Impulse was renewed for a second season in July 2018, before YouTube’s strategic shift in late 2018 from a Svod to Avod model and away from original scripted programming to double down on unscripted fare. Every YouTuBe scripted original to air since then has been canceled except for flagship Cobra Kai and Liza on Demand, starring popular YouTube personality Liza Koshy, which have been renewed for additional seasons.
Cobra Kai is heading into its third season on YouTube; its future on the platform beyond that is up in the air.
In Impulse, which hails from Universal Cable Productions and studio-based Hypnotic, Maddie Hasson stars as Henrietta “Henry” Cole, a rebellious 16-year-old who has always...

Changes are in store for Henry Coles in Impulse season 2, but the series remains true to its strong character development in the process.

This spoiler-free review is based on the first two episodes of Impulse season 2.
Viewers of Impulse on YouTube Premium have figured out by now that the television adaptation of the Stephen Gould Jumper novels is more true to the themes of personal trauma from the first book than it is to the high octane action film from 2008. As a result, the pacing of the first season is quite deliberate, focusing more on what caused Henry Coles, played by Maddie Hasson, to teleport in the first place rather than accelerating through her origin story and having her quickly gain control over her abilities. Although some of that will change in season 2, the first two episodes made available for review indicate that the details about...

I absolutely love films, in particular, horror films that have scenes that involve a lot of snow. Or, even better, if like Witches In The Woods, have a setting that is entirely snow-covered. Maybe it’s my love of Christmas and movies based around that holiday season or maybe it’s just how beautiful landscapes and nature look when covered with the white stuff. Or maybe it’s because when blood is sprayed or dripped on to snow, it looks really really cool. Whatever it is, I know I am going to enjoy a movie a little bit more if snow is featured heavily.

YouTube Premium is bringing back Doug Liman's Impulse for another suspenseful season of sci-fi.
YouTube Premium isn't messing around with its sci-fi series, Impulse. Indeed, the show, which premiered back on June 6, 2018, landed a quick renewal for a second season, which was announced less than two months later at that year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red) cited 8 million viewers for the Impulse pilot in its Comic-Con 2018 renewal confirmation. Thus, Impulse Season 2, like its predecessor, is coming back with a full 10-episode run. It helped that the first season was very well received, and that the popular Cobra Kai helped the new streaming subscription service carve out a viable niche.
Impulse is directed and produced by Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman. It is adapted the Jumper series of novels from Steven Gould, which also served as the basis for Liman's 2008 film adaptation,...

Great news, Impulse fans! An announcement straight out of Comic-Con revealed YouTube wants to show you more of Doug Liman's Impulse series!

TV Fanatic was able to talk with one of the stars of Impulse, Craig Arnold, who plays Lucas Boone in the series. He had his fingers crossed for a Season 2, and it looks like it worked!
Way to go, Craig!
In the finale of Impulse Season 1, Lucas was found in the house of the boy he murdered.

YouTube Red has released a full trailer for the Doug Liman's upcoming sci-fi drama series Impulse. The series is based on Steven Gould's Jumper series and this particular story is based on the third book in that series.
I've been impressed with what I've seen from this show so far and this latest trailer offers us more details on the story that it will tell. The show definitely looks a hell of a lot better than the Jumper movie! Impulse seems to have a much darker, gritty, and grounded tone to it, which I like.

A self-acknowledged "showcase for Academy Award frontrunners," the Santa Barbara International Film Festival is often overlooked for the actual films that earn it festival status. An amalgamation of international discoveries and ’merica’s circuit highlights, the Sbiff curates a week of best-of-the-best to pair with their star-praising. The 2015 edition offers another expansive selection, bookended by two films that aren’t on any radars just yet. Sbiff will open with "Desert Dancer," producer Richard Raymond’s directorial debut. Starring Reece Ritchie and Frieda Pinto, the drama follows a group of friends who wave off the harsh political climate of Iran’s 2009 presidential election in favor of forming a dance team, picking up moves from Michael Jackson, Gene Kelly and Rudolf Nureyev thanks to the magic of YouTube. The festival will close with "McFarland, USA," starring Kevin Costner and Maria Bello. Telling the 1987 true story of a Latino high school’s underdog cross-country team,...

So many films are devoted to chronicling the coming-of-age of teenage outcasts that these dramas may as well be their own genre. As filmmakers and screenwriters adapt elements of his or her own upbringing to the screen, the genre is often a tough one to tire from, since each creator lends their own perspectives to these stories of curiosity, heartbreak, new friendships and social pressures. Writer/director Lindsay MacKay has made a variety of shorts focused on youths; now, for her feature debut, Wet Bum, she focuses on both the delicate beauty and the danger associated with growing up.
In the Canadian coming-of-age drama, Julia Sarah Stone gives a performance of tremendous depth, spark and dramatic range. (The Toronto Film Festival crowned Stone as one of the festival’s four Rising Stars this year.) The young actor plays Sam, a pale, lonely teen that does not have many friends. After school,...
