HBO has canceled their drag reality TV series We're Here, three months after it aired its final episode on May 31. The well-received series premiered in 2020 and featured Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O'Hara, and Shangela Laquifa Wadley going around the country and training small-town residents to prepare them for a one-night-only drag show. The fourth season saw Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall, and Latrice Royale lead the show. Bolstered by an intriguing presence, We're Here was arguably HBO's most heartwarming show on the channel, which premiered four seasons up until this summer.
As reported by Variety, We're Here Season 4 will serve as its final season after premiering on HBO the past few years. HBO made a statement regarding the cancellation, discussing its many awards accolades and its social importance. During a time in which bigoted aggression is still pointed toward drag shows and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole,...

Ending the year in signs is the hilarious, adventurous, sharp-tongued era of Sagittarius.
There’s truly nothing like them. They are quirky, mysterious and full of life. While they naturally grab the attention in the room, they feel most comfortable when they’re in their lonesome.
Sagittarius is the jack-of-trades sign; the sign that takes up space in every all industries — whether they be an actor, comedian or a bus driver — their versatility allows them to do it all. And that flexibility helps fuel their “I’ll try anything once” mindset. To them, what is life if you’re not living it to your fullest? The only thing you have to beware of is their slick mouth. Between Sagittarius, Virgo and Aries it’s hard to tell which sign is more brutally honest. Truly, to know Sagittarius is to love them. And if you don’t love…it doesn’t...

Katy Keene Episode 6
“That’s when I knew I was royally screwed.”
As this episode opens, Katy realizes that it’s time to move on from K.O., a sentiment that is echoed by her friends. And viewers. She has only ever experienced romance with him, and let’s face it, dude was super lame. (I still can’t believe that the ever-candid Jorge has never spoken up to tell Katy this fact). After learning that her mom did in fact work at Lacy’s for a short while, she is thrust into helping Prince Errol Swoon and his bride-to-be Patricia prepare for their engagement photo shoot at Lacy’s. Not really having time to process this information.
Unfortunately, the pair are bickering and Katy uses her flawless people skills and fashion sense to save the day and the shoot. It’s there that...

Chris here. Last night the lineup was revealed for the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars in a big casting extravaganza like Drag Race used to do in the old days. These casting specials really should be required for each season because we get to spend solo time with each queen that the workroom can't afford. And for an All Stars season it allows the newer viewers an opportunity to get to know queens from early seasons. But onto the queens - this year's lineup is also stocked full of "eliminated too soon" queens to go with the fan favorites:
Aja (Season 9) BenDeLaDreme (Season 6) Chi Chi Devayne (Season 8) Kennedy Davenport (Season 7) Milk (Season 6) Morgan McMichaels (Season 2) Shangela (Season 2 and 3) Thorgy Thor (Season 8) Trixie Mattel (Season 7)

Get your fix of righteous indignation below, and stay posted for outrage updates throughout the week. Last night's Darin Morgan-scripted X-Files episode "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster" was the best-received episode of the series revival yet -- our own Alan Sepinwall said it "lived up to every wish and hope I had for it" -- but not everyone was in love with the "monster-of-the-week" throwback. Enter Jezebel contributor Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, who writes that while she enjoyed "Were-Monster" up to a point, Morgan "fumbled [the episode's] 'trans narrative,'" which involved a monster-bashing transgender prostitute played by former RuPaul's Drag Race contestant D.J. “Shangela” Pierce. The crux of Escobedo Shepherd's argument revolves around three major plot points: 1. The prostitute Annabelle is "cast stereotypically as a sex worker"; 2. The fact of Annabelle's transition is shoehorned...

Miley Cyrus delivered a show for every sense imaginable when she hit the MTV VMAs stage to belt out "Dooo It!" on Sunday.
The high-octane performance was an orchestrated surprise that Cyrus and her dancers – a group of drag queens and trans activists – spent a week perfecting.
Fans of RuPaul's Drag Race may have recognized Shangela, aka D.J. Pierce, on Cyrus' left side throughout the number. In the midst of the excitement, she captured the group's experience in her YouTube series Living with Shangela. What can you say about Miley Cyrus' closing number at the 2015 Video Music Awards? There was a ridiculous death drop (thank you Laganja Estranja). There was a kiss with reigning "RuPaul's Drag Race" champion Violet Chachki. Oh, and yes, Ms. Vivacious looked a week bit tired, but chances are unless you're a fan of the only hit show on the Logo TV network you likely had no idea who those drag queens dancing around Ms. Cyrus were. Let us enlighten you. It turns out Cyrus is such a big fan of "Drag Race" and drag in general that she sat through taping of the season 7 finale this past May. She smartly put some of the better dancers around her on the front part of the stage including the previously mentioned Estranja, Alyssa Edwards (whose audio can be heard in Cyrus' new song "Dooo It!") and Shangela (a trio who...

Just a few days after Lavalantula debuted on Syfy this weekend, the cable network has given the green light for a sequel, entitled 2 Lava 2 Lantula. The title is a reference to Universal Pictures' 2003 sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious, but don't hold your breath for high-octane racing action in 2 Lava 2 Lantula. Syfy will release 2 Lava 2 Lantula as a 2016 summer movie, but no cast members or filmmakers have been confirmed quite yet.
Police Academy stars Steve Guttenberg, Leslie Easterbrook, Marion Ramsey and Michael Winslow reunited to star in Lavalantula, and the hope is to bring them all back. The story follows a "washed up 90s action hero actor" played by Steve Guttenberg, who joins forces with Leslie Easterbrook and Michael Winslow's characters to stop a monstrous swarm of bloodthirsty lava-breathing tarantulas who burn their victims alive. The supporting cast includes Nia Peeples, Danny Woodburn, Ralph Garman, Marion Ramsey, Jon Mack, D.J. Pierce and Patrick Renna.

Movie geeks, get ready to camp out.
On Sunday, a new series on Logo called Cocktails & Classics brings together the people behind some of the most beloved – and, yes, often over-the-top – films of all time with the entertainment fixtures who have made a career out of obsessing over them.
An exclusive episode from Cocktails' premiere episode, which accompanies 1989's Steel Magnolias, reveals the insider-y, chatty flavor of the series, which host Michael Urie tells People is all about digging into "finding out what it is about these films that made them classics."

Impeach My Bush: Menon’s Debut a Spirited Period Road Trip
Exploring a provocative dark chapter in the voting tendencies of the United States general public by revisiting the 2004 presidential elections, where incumbent George W. Bush defeated Senator John Kerry for a second term, director Meera Menon’s debut, Farah Goes Bang is clearly not meant to appease denizens of those red states. Instead, it perhaps recalls a distinct moment in time for those that valiantly fought against a tide of regression to support an unlikely candidate, as seen through the eyes of a woman of Iranian heritage on a spirited road trip to garner last minute votes in the swing state of Ohio. Much more than a mere political statement, Menon crafts a low-key character arc around an impressionable two week period that feels much less detrimental in retrospect.

When RuPaul's Drag Race sashayed into our lives in February 2009, it didn't instantly snatch wigs. In fact, it's taken six seasons (including one All-Stars edition) for the show to permeate the mainstream, earn inclusion in nearly every "Snubbed By Emmy" story and be considered Must See TV.
But loyal fans have known since day one that RuPaul was on to something special with this eleganza extravaganza, and now Logo's giving Johnny-come-lately's the chance to come correct and -- finally -- experience the first edition of Drag Race! The 9-episode season, which has not been re-aired or available on DVD due to legal issues, premieres tonight and includes never-before-seen footage, new cast interviews and "peek-a-Ru" pop-up commentary!

Todrick Hall, YouTube sensation and former 'American Idol' finalist, has once again reimagined the classic Disney tale of Cinderella -- this time through the lens of pop diva and international superstar Beyonce.
Tracking the rag-to-riches storyline through Sasha Fierce hits like "Diva," "Countdown," and "Single Ladies," this brilliant reappropriation of a timeless Disney fairytale will have you gagging for more -- and luckily, this isn't the first video of its kind to be released by Hall.
The performer previously reimagined classic Disney story-lines using iconic gay personas in his videos. Check out "Beauty and the Beat" and "Cinderfella," the latter featuring Shangela Laquifa Wadley, along with Willam and superstar Janice Dickinson.
Hall also recruited Shanglea to take part in this video, playing the part of Cinderonce's sickening Fairy Drag Mother that helps young Cinderonce get her freakum dress royal ball-ready.

Could Lady Gaga be a guest judge on the upcoming season of "RuPaul's Drag Race?"
There has already been speculation on which drag queens will grace the stage during the sixth season but the topic of guest judges hasn't been broached.
Lady Gaga tweeted RuPaul, the creator and host of the beloved drag reality show, on Wednesday begging to be a judge during the show's next season:
Can I Please be a judge on drag race! @RuPaul I started out in these club, these women taught me how to serve!

RuPaul's Drag Race is a competition based on the unbeatable criteria of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, but a quick glance at the show's contestant history proves that deadly good looks may be a part of the package. And sometimes the package is part of the deadliness. Ow-ow! Cue the chicken laugh, Detox.

The second episode of RuPaul's Drag Race's fifth season delighted us with a quirky, unexpected challenge: The 13 remaining queens were tasked with reenacting classic moments from the past four seasons of Drag Race. The challenge called for precise lip-sync skills and dramatic acting chops from everyone, and it's clear whose pantomime was worthier of kudos from guest judges Kristen Johnston and Juliette Lewis: Lineysha Sparx walked off with the title for her dead-on, hilarious impersonation of Tyra Sanchez (though it helped that the resemblance was uncanny), and beleaguered Panamanian queen Serena ChaCha, a.k.a. Myron Morgan, ended up in the bottom two thanks to her uninspired take on Raja. After surviving last week's survival lip-sync, Serena lost to Monica Beverly Hillz in a final performance of Rihanna's "Only Girl (in the World)."
We caught up with Serena to discuss her rapport with the other queens, being the youngest competitor,...

AfterElton readers know what's Hot in Hollywood. We're a community of voracious yet discerning pop culture consumers, so when it comes to TV, movies, web series and celebrities... tourniquet be damned, our finger is on the bloody pulse! This year in our first annual Hot in Hollywood poll our readers cast over 800,000 votes (yes, you read that correctly) crowning winners in 21 different categories, everything from Favorite Movie Beefcake to Guilty TV Pleasure to Child Actor We Don't Hate.
There were some tight races (Favorite Web Series, Favorite TV Beefcake and Greatest TV Villain) and a couple gimmes (Teen Wolf obviously had a lock on Favorite TV Sidekick), but the big surprise was how evenly distributed the love was. No single TV or film project took home more than one or two awards.

Drag queen superstar Shangela Laquifa Wadley is teaming up with Sh*t Black Girls Say creator Billy Sorrells for a new series on YouTube, Two Gay Guys in A Car. For those of you who are not avid fans of the drag queen competition reality series on Logo RuPaul's Drag Race, Shanglea was an infamous contestant on the show for seasons 2 and 3. The self-described 'Debutantess of The Deep South' (aka D.J. Pierce when not in drag) says he came up with the idea in a Popeye's drive-thru line while ordering the two-piece Tuesday special. "All of you know what kind of foolishness goes on when you get in the car with your friends," said Shangela in a post on the Huffington Post. "And that's what this web series is all about." The series aims to kick off the Sh*t People Say phenomenon that inspired over a hundred of spin-offs and one Tubefilter Meetup.

Here's a laugh to kick off your holiday weekend. The next project from the writer of Sh*t Black Girls Say, is a new web series very much in the vein of the sh*t says brand of humor. The concept is interesting. Each episode centers on the random, funny moments that happen when two people are in a car on their way to a destination. According to producer Lena Waithe, the idea came by happenstance when her friends Camrin William and DJ Pierce (who you may recognize as Shangela from RuPaul's Drag Race) were caught on DJ's camera phone, which was laying on the dashboard. "When I saw the footage I immediately thought it was such a cool concept. Two people in one...

At The Daily Beast, my colleague Maria Elena Fernandez and I examine how PBS got cool: the massive success of Downton Abbey has brought PBS an increase in donations, funding for Masterpiece, a boost in ratings for other programs, and an unlikely place in the zeitgeist. (Plus, RuPaul on Downton's appeal.) You can read my latest feature, entitled "Downton Abbey: How PBS Got Cool," in which Fernandez and I talk to Rebecca Eaton, RuPaul, PBS SoCal, Wnet, and PBS executives, and The Soup producer Matthew Carney, among others. Patton Oswalt obsessively live tweets it from his weekly viewing parties. Katy Perry is using it to distract herself from her marital woes. Roger Ebert has stepped outside the movie realm to praise it in his blog. Saturday Night Live spoofed it. Mob Wives star Big Ang Raiola recited favorite quips for Us Weekly. There have been plenty of fierce competitions on "Toddlers & Tiaras" (Wed., 10 p.m. Est on TLC), but perhaps none so totally fierce as the one between Hailey and her uncle and godfather D.J. Pierce, a.k.a. drag performer "Shangela."
Hailey's mom Shemanda is hoping that "RuPaul's Drag Race" star Shangela will help her daughter "become more fierce a diva," so she stages a backyard "walk-off" where the two glamazons go head-to-head.
Both girls look completely fabulous, of course, and work it in front of the assembled family and friends, but in the end it's winning that matters most here. Who took home the title and huge crown? The tough crowd voted almost unanimously for nine year-old Hailey.
As Shemanda put it, "Shangela was good, but Hailey was better."
Check out Shangela's take on the "Toddlers & Tiaras" experience.
