This article contains spoilers for South Park: Joining the Panderverse.
It’s about that time of year again for Matt Stone and Trey Parker to continue their $900 million 14 TV movie Paramount+ contract promise and drop another near-hour-long South Park special.
At this point, it’s expected that these specials are the central platform for Stone and Parker to satirize recent social events but in the most outrageous South Park possible, as they do with the mainline show. Like its recent seasons, the specials have had a scattershot quality — usually plentiful in gags that are funny until tired or decent commentary on the rollercoaster years we’ve endured recently.
Nevertheless, it’s continually enticing to see which corner of American culture the creators will aim their tomatoes at and how ridiculously they will depict a central topic. In their latest special, South Park: Joining the Panderverse, the creators target the cycle...

If the list of hot-ticket Emmy parties seems a bit shorter than before we all got knocked for a loop by the pandemic, that’s because it is. But as Hollywood continues to go live and big as awards season gets geared up to roll for six months from the Emmys on Sept. 12 all the way to the Oscars on March 12, there are definitely some seriously good parties happening from now through Monday.
Make sure you are on the guest list, for these are all invite-only, guest-list affairs. Don’t expect to get through the doors without a vaccination card or a negative test, as that part of partygoing is still firmly in place.

Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther won the marquee film ensemble prize Sunday at the 25th annual SAG Awards, topping a loaded field of fellow Oscar nominees and making it a serious contender for next month’s Academy Awards.
“It’s a pleasure to be celebrated by you, to be loved by you,” star Chadwick Boseman said to conclude a rousing speech onstage at the Shrine Auditorium. “And you know you can’t have a Black Panther now without a ‘two’ on it,” — a reference to a pending sequel to the pic, which grossed $1.35 billion this year.
Sunday’s kudos were the first chance since last week’s Oscar nominations for those in the race to establish frontrunner status. Black Panther certainly helped itself tonight against fellow Oscar noms BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star Is Born who were nommed tonight along with Crazy Rich Asians.

Evangeline Lilly, who stars as the Wasp in Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp, revealed that she flayed the skin off both of her forearms during a stunt that went wrong several years ago on the set of Lost. “There were open wounds, pus-y and oozing,” she said during a panel discussion Wednesday night on the Fox lot about women in the stunt business. “I looked like a mutant. My mom said, ‘You’ll never be able to wear an evening gown again!’”
Lilly also made it clear that the accident was no accident, accusing an unnamed stunt coordinator — who she described as “misogynistic” — of punishing her for defying his wish to have a stuntwoman do the stunt. It involved rolling off a thick tree branch high above the ground and hanging on for dear life, though there was no risk of falling because she was safely harnessed to the branch.

Stuntwomen will take center stage at a panel discussion and networking mixer to be held at Fox Studio on May 16. The panel, which comes in the wake of recent reports about “wigging” – the age-old practice of stuntmen donning wigs and women’s clothes to double for actresses – will address bias in the underemployment of women and people of color in the stunt industry.
“I recently signed on to direct my first action film and when I started looking into female stunt coordinators, I was alarmed by how few there were,” said director Alethea Jones, who will moderate the event. “I realized that I could advocate for women in stunts by appealing to the people who do the hiring – my directing peers, producers, and studios.”
“The push for gender parity needs to happen at all levels, both in front of and behind the camera,” said director Leah Meyerhoff, founder of Film Fatales,...

Ronda Rousey is unfit to join the elite Dora Milaje guard and protect King T'Challa from all enemies, because, according to one of the stars of "Black Panther," Only Winners Are Allowed. Fyi -- the Dora Milaje is an all-female squad of ass-kickers who are sworn to protect the king (Black Panther) -- and basically beat the hell out of anyone he wants. We talked to Janeshia Adams-Ginyard at Lax -- she plays a member...

Is it too much of a stretch to say that Avengers: Infinity War is about to become the biggest movie on the planet?
Sure, Star Wars: The Last Jedi currently has its grip on the global box office ($538 million and counting), but come 2018, all eyes will turn toward the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Because once Black Panther enjoys its time in the spotlight and Thanos begins to poke his great big purple head over the horizon, it’s showtime, and the McU will never be the same again.
In honor of that historic crossover, and following the release of Infinity War‘s show-stopping teaser, we’re now beginning to see some Marvel-themed swag leak onto the interwebs, including a rather cool cap which features a minimalist spin on the Avengers: Infinity War logo – gauntlet and all. It’s more akin to line art than anything else, while the cap’s...
