Mumbai, March 9 (Ians) Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has a penchant at discovering clutter-breaking films and roles. For this, he has to look out for new storytellers.
"I have always looked to collaborate with new storytellers because they are looking to bring a fresh voice and a different vision to our cinema," Ayushmann said.
He added: "YOung, first-time filmmakers are looking to make a mark in the industry and they are always coming up with high-risk content decisions, which appeals to me a lot because I have always gravitated towards being super risky with my film and character choices."
Ayushmann has worked with debutant directors like Sharat Kataria, Hitesh Kewalya, Raaj Shaandilyaa, Rs Prasanna, Akshay Roy, and Vibhu Puri, and also collaborated with young directors like Nupur Asthana, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, Amit Sharma and Amar Kaushik.

Lgbtqi+To be fair, the story had potential. But I wish the film hadn’t normalised violence, or given the ‘message’ to young queer people that it’s ok to put up with such violence from family.Ragamalika KarthikeyanSpoilers ahead I’ve laughed at a whole load of problematic comedy in my life – I’m definitely not a perfect ‘woke’ person. I’ve giggled at fat jokes, found people falling funny, laughed at things I definitely shouldn’t have… But when a middle aged scientist brought out a huge log and started hitting his son’s boyfriend in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and the sequence was coded as ‘funny’, I found no humour in what was happening. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana,Jitendra Kumar, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta,Maanvi Gagroo
Written & Directed by Hitesh Kewalya
Why are films about gay people so sad? They are either about AIDS or star-crossed same-sex lovers who are doomed to die or suffer, take you pick.
Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan(Smzs) breaks the glass ceiling and the gaze that sees the ling …it not only normalizes a same-sex relationship, it compels the homophobic onlookers—the frowning family and the sniggering relatives—to come around , to …well…if not accept than succumb to the pressures of normalizing homosexuality that seems to be building up like gathering clouds all around the homophobic cartel of wedding revellers, none more so than patriarch Shankar Tripathi who sees his only darling son Aman (impressive debutant Jitendra Kumar) kissing with his friend in a train filled with wedding revellers.
Crazy things keep happening all through Smzs,...

Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar
Directed by R S Prasanna
It’s okay if you can’t get it up.
There. I said it. It’s taken Hindi cinema years and years to be liberated from the shackles of libidinous machismo. An actor called Ayushmann Khurrana has done it. He plays an ordinary guy with a routine problem with such conviction.
Ayushmann’s Mudit in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan suffers from performance anxiety whenever he tries to make out with his bride-to-be, played with spunk and spontaneity by Bhumi Pednekar who is rapidly emerging as the voice of the mofussil woman.
In many ways Bhumi is the hero of this remarkable film that’s eventually bogged down by too many stereotypical characters associated with the small-town joint families. You know them, quirky, cantankerous, eccentric, whimsical, bit cute and honest.
Bhumi’s Sugandha is one of the most sharply-written female heroes in recent films.
