Lifetime’s chilling tale of real-life murder suspect Lizzie Borden more than lived up to our expectations.
In case you’re having trouble keeping score, Lifetime is owning 2014. Just one week after blessing us with the guilty pleasure masterpiece Flowers In The Attic, the network premiered its instant camp classic Lizzie Borden Took An Ax, and it was everything we hoped it would be.
‘Lizzie Borden Takes An Ax’ Review: Christina Ricci Carries Lifetime’s Latest Guilty Pleasure Take Our Poll
Christina Ricci masterfully tackles the role of real-life murder suspect Lizzie Borden, who stood accused of killing both of her parents in 1892 — although “killing” is far too mild a description of what Lizzie was thought to have done. You may recall the following jump-rope rhyme, totally appropriate for little children:
Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks.
When she saw what she had done
She gave her father forty-one.

Lifetime's upcoming Lizzie Borden biopic, starring Christina Ricci, has added two more to its cast.
TV Line reports that Billy Campbell ("The Killing") and Clea Duvall ("American Horror Story: Asylum") have come aboard to tell the tale of Borden, who infamously was tried and acquitted in the 1892 ax murders of her father and stepmother.
Campbell will appear as Andrew Jennings, Borden's lawyer, while Duvall will take on the role of Borden's sister, Emma.
Borden's been quite the hot topic as of late. A competing project is in the works at HBO, with Chloe Sevigny attached to topline, and Duvall's season of "Ahs" touched on the Borden saga with the character of Grace (Lizzie Brochere), who murdered her family in a similar fashion.
Are you looking forward what is sure to be an insane take on the Borden tale from Lifetime?...
