Hongi (James Rolleston) – a Māori chieftain’s teenage son – must avenge his father’s murder in order to bring peace and honour to the souls of his loved ones after his tribe is slaughtered through an act of treachery. Vastly outnumbered by a band of villains, led by Wirepa (Te Kohe Tuhaka), Hongi’s only hope is to pass through the feared and forbidden Dead Lands and forge an uneasy alliance with the mysterious “Warrior” (Lawrence Makoare), a ruthless fighter who has ruled the area for years.
I actually found The Dead Lands really entertaining. Not only is the film filled to the brim with crazy Māori fight sequences which look brutal and realistic,...

"Apologies, Nasir, but, seriously, can you really resist this sexy pirate grin?"
The body count grew in last week’s penultimate episode of the Starz drama Spartacus: War Of The Damned, but the good news is that our beloved Agron (Dan Feuerriegel) did not perish as we were lead to believe. Instead he came down off the cross (literally) and was reunited with love of his life, Nasir (Pana Hema Taylor).
Since we’ve already hit many emotional highs in these last episodes, creator Steven S. DeKnight is obviously not holding back and, having seen the last episode, I can promise he delivers a series finale worthy of the entire Spartacus franchise.
Part of what made the Nagron story so compelling this season was introduction of the strapping Castus (Blessing Mokgohloa). The sexy pirate made it clear early in the season that he had eyes for Nasir, he and didn...

Will the love between Agron and Nasir be but a memory?
Last night’s episode of Spartacus: War Of The Damned brought some huge losses. Not only did we see the mighty Crixus (Manu Bennett) die at the hand of Tiberius (Christian Antidormi) while his lover Naevia (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) watched, but we also saw Agron (Dan Feuerriegel) part ways with lover Nasir (Pana Hema Taylor) and then fall in battle, which could spell the true end of this beautifully presented and much beloved gay love story.
Feuerriegel, who we profiled earlier this year, jumped on the phone with us yesterday to talk about shooting the “Separate Paths” episode, including the heartbreaking scene where Agron says goodbye to Nasir.
AfterElton: The scene between Agron and Nasir was so powerful and essentially a break-up. Talk to me about filming that.
Dan Feuerriegel: It was probably one of my most favorite scenes...

“We’ve had gay characters on the show before, but this was the first time that we could develop the relationship from the very beginning very slowly and actually see them fall in love,” said Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight of the love story that began last season with rebel warriors Agron (played with hunky bravado by Dan Feuerriegel) and Nasir (Pana Hema Taylor), a.k.a. ‘Nagron.’
On a press call late last week, DeKnight previewed what we’ll see when the War Of The Damned chapter (the final season in the series) begins airing this Friday on Starz. “We continue exploring their relationship,” he said, adding the tease that “you can’t always have a relationship that goes smoothly. There’s not a lot of drama in that, so we throw a couple of curve balls at them. But theirs...

Spartacus: Vengeance 2.02 "A Place in This World" Review
Spartacus: Vengeance continues rising out of the ashes of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, offering up its second episode "A Place in This World," as Spartacus and Crixus begin the search for Naevia while Oenomaus (Peter Mensa) struggles to reclaim his honor and find purpose after what he's done. Far from a sophomore slump, "A Place in This World" offers a somewhat quieter, but heavy with purpose episode for the series' renewed vigor.
So…it’s over, right? We’re into the second episode of Spartacus: Vengeance now with “A Place In This World,” and the audience has had weeks of “Fugitivus” available to get used to Liam McIntyre in the title role, right? The season is in play, and we can move past the curious tragedy of it all to appreciate the bloody spectacle for what it is? I say this not out of disrespect,...

Cormack told Woman's Day magazine: "There was undeniable chemistry from the start, but at the time I didn't feel it was appropriate to act on it. Pana is so charismatic. He's the sort of person who's magnetic to other people - they want to be around him. I was aware of that and then, for that to be directed at me - wow!" Actor Hema-Taylor said that he "couldn't help but stare" at Cormack because she is so "beautiful" and knew that they (more)...
