The Wheel of Time has always been a favorite, and season two has been an improvement, but this episode knocked it out of the park.
The Wheel of Time Season 2 Episode 6 proved to be a tense, jam-packed episode with incredible performances, plot development, and new information.
We can confidently say that Eyes Without Pity is the best episode of the entire series.
At the beginning of the Wheel of Time Season 2, we often complained about the lack of coherency in the storyline and the overall feeling of an incomplete plot.
With this being the third to last episode of the season, we had hoped things would start to pick up, and they certainly did!
So many things happened over the course of this hour-plus episode, but they all made for a brilliant story.
We often praise Kate Fleetwood's portrayal of Liandrin Sedai, and her brief appearances during this hour were wonderful,...

Plenty of fans of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time like to pick Mat Cauthon as their favorite character in the overall story, particularly as the lovable rogue became more and more pivotal as the novels unfolded. That appears to be the same case for Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time series, which premieres its second season on Friday, Sept. 1 (with the first three episodes).
The end of Season 1 left Mat Cauthon (then played by Barney Harris) in a very strange and troubling place: on the run and separated from the rest of the core cast. Since then,...

In the world of Medusa Deluxe, beauticians wield scissors like knives and hairsprays like pistols. Hairstyling competitions are fraught spaces stacked with talented participants. Anyone can tame an unruly mane, but only a handful can turn it into a work of art.
“I’m in the middle of a Georgian fontange,” one stylist snaps in the opening scene of Thomas Hardiman’s exciting directorial debut. “You can’t just walk away from that shit.” Tensions are high in this dressing room. Outside the door, police patrol the hall. Sirens blare in the distance. The death of Mosca (John Alan Roberts), one of the stylists, has paused the competition and forced a temporary lockdown.
The atmosphere is thick with suspicion. This is a cutthroat bunch, a community whose members convene annually to flaunt their skills and prove themselves. There are public alliances and private allegiances. Betrayals abound, too. Everyone has a theory.

Few, if any, single-shot movies ever justify the conceit. In fact, most of them do their material a disservice through the distraction that emerges naturally from the trickery. In other words, audiences are often put into the position of looking for the seams in the filmmaking, on the hunt for evidence of the artifice. In the case of writer-director Thomas Hardiman’s Medusa Deluxe, though, artifice is the entire raison d’être.
Set within the backstages of a cutthroat hairdressing competition, the film opens with a riled-up Cleve (played with dazzling fire by Clare Perkins) recounting the story’s inciting incident while fussing over a disgruntled model’s coif. Stylist Mosca (John Alan Roberts), presumed to be heavy competition, has not only been discovered dead, but also scalped. The remaining contestants are now sheltering in place and turbo-gossiping about who his presumed murderer could possibly be. At the same time,...

A24’s released the official trailer for Medusa Deluxe, a murder mystery from first-time feature film director Thomas Hardiman. The trailer reveals the twisted behind-the-scenes world of a hairstyling competition, with intricate – and bizarre – hairstyles competing with talk of a murderer in their midst.

Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Clare Perkins, Darrell D’Silva, Debris Stevenson, and Harriet Webb star. The cast also includes Heider Ali, Kae Alexander, Kayla Meikle, Lilit Lesser, Luke Pasqualino, and Nicholas Karimi.

The Wheel of Time's penultimate episode raised the stakes as one of our villagers makes a discovery that changes everything.
Elsewhere on The Wheel of Time Season 1 Episode 7, we are introduced to a score of new characters, including Min, a Seer.
This hour of suspense and discovery brilliantly sets up what promises a great finale.
The opening scenes see a woman who has fought for her life for what seems like a long while during a war.
She's very good at defending herself, as she manages to take down many different soldiers all on her while also dealing with a personal circumstance.
We'll discuss the context more later, but this opening scene is very badass and, without the context (revealed at a later time), left us intrigued and confused.

Amazon Prime’s Lord of the Rings adaptation has gotten a lot of press as the biggest budget TV series, but let us not forget the other TV adaptation based on an epic fantasy book series the streamer also has in the works. I’m talking, of course, about Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of Robert Jordan’s beloved Wheel of Time series, which is set to star Gone Girl‘s Rosamund Pike. Even though Amazon has already begun production on the second season of this fantasy epic, we’ve yet to get much insight into what the first season might look like or be. That changed (slightly) today, when Amazon debuted a first look poster and announced a premiere date for Wheel of Time as part of its Sdcc@Home panel.

Amazon is doubling down on The Wheel of Time.
The streamer has renewed the fantasy series for a second season ahead of the launch of the show. It comes as production has wrapped on season one in the Czech Republic.
It is the latest market in a long road for the adaptation of Robert Jordan’s books, which has been in development in one form or another for 20 years and that Amazon ordered to series in October 2018. Like many series, production of the drama was also hit by the pandemic.
The Wheel of Time, set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it, is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television and comes from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Chuck writer Rafe Judkins, who is showrunner and exec producer.

A version of this story about Rachel Brosnahan first appeared in the Emmy Hot List issue of TheWrap’s Emmy magazine.
Rachel Brosnahan’s performance in Season 3 of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” earned her her third Emmy nomination in a row for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. It’s one of 20 nominations for the Amazon Prime series, which puts it tops among all comedy series and second only to Watchmen for the most nominations for any show.
After two years as a formidable Emmy contender — with wins for herself and for the show in 2018 — Brosnahan has likely mastered the emotional challenge of waiting for the presenter to read the name in that envelope. But this past season, playing Midge Maisel provided her with a much deeper and more consequential set of emotional challenges.

The sequel to Disney’s live-action spinoff of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, will not spread gloom and doom, rather box office boom, around the world this weekend with what is looking to be the third best October start of $165M-$175M after Joker ($248.4M) and Venom ($207.4M).
The movie in which Oscar winner Angelina Jolie reprises her role as the evil sorceress villain from Sleeping Beauty was originally expected to go over Memorial Day next year, however, pushed it up, which speaks plenty about their faith in the film. "There is no union! There will be no wedding!" Disney has debuted a full-length trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the dark sequel to the live-action Maleficent movie from 2014. The teaser trailer dropped a few months ago, but now we get a full look and damn this seems very dark and extra wicked. Inspired by Disney's Sleeping Beauty, we follow the story of young Aurora and her relationship to Maleficent, the "evil witch" who poisoned the princess and wants to rule over everyone. Angelina Jolie returns to star as the iconic witch, with Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith, plus a cast including Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Harris Dickinson, Robert Lindsay, Ed Skrein, Juno Temple, Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kae Alexander, David Gyasi, and Judith Shekoni. So does this look any better? Is anyone excited for this sequel? Seems like they're trying too hard to make it look more epic than it truly is.
