Wayne Slaten is an American independent movie director, screenwriter, and editor. He began developing and directing short film projects under the shingle Moonlite Filmwerks in 2007. Slaten wrote and directed his first feature length movie Backroad in 2010 followed by Cold War which was selected as part of an international short film competition to screen at Cannes. His script titled Patriot Act was a quarterfinalist in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition and later developed into the sci-fi adventure Dropa. Slaten directed the spy-thriller Osprey followed by the short film Red Pearl which screened aboard the International Space Station and went on to win the NASA Jury Award at the CineSpace Film Festival before airing on PBS.
