Star Wars Resistance cast commentary adds so much to the show
Image
Before rewatching Star Wars Resistance with my daughter, I decided to rent the DVD Season 1 set from the library. There are many special features for Star Wars fans included in the audio commentary on four episodes of the series.

The commentary is done by voice actors Christopher Sean (Kazuda Xiono), Josh Brener (Neeku Vozo), Myrna Garcia Velasco (Torra Doza), and Scott Lawrence (Jarek Yeager). They did commentary on "The High Tower," "The Platform Classic," "Bibo," and the Season 1 finale, "No Escape: Part 2."

A lot of insight can be gained as you listen to their reactions and what they focused on involving the series. For example, Josh Brener said that he had to record and do several different takes and versions of Neeku's memorable laugh. He didn't know until he saw the show which one had been selected.

All four recalled that even though they recorded for the series, they would...

Disney’s Primos Is Not Dead After All? Set To Premier In July.
Image
After much speculation, the Disney animated series Primos has resurfaced with a brand-new premiere date. Originally meant to premiere earlier this month, the controversial series will now premiere on Thursday, July 25th, at 8:00 pm Est on The Disney Channel and will release on Disney+ the next day.

The series was originally announced in June 2023 as a show focusing on a young girl named Tater Ramirez Humphrey. She is forced to live with her extended family, mostly cousins, hence the show’s title, “Primos.”

However, the show immediately drew backlash over its portrayals of certain characters as Mexican/Latin American stereotypes. Even the show’s title, “Primos,” is technically incorrect as “Primo” refers to male in Spanish while “Prima” refers to female, and she has both male and female cousins. Not to mention the comparisons to Nickelodeon’s The Loud House.

The backlash escalated when the show’s lead voice actress,...

Disney’s Controversial ‘Primos’ Series Gets Mysteriously Delayed?
Image
Nearly one year ago, Disney released a trailer for a brand new animated series “Primos.” The show centered on a ten-year-old girl named Tater Ramírez-Humphrey, the daughter of a mixed Mexican American family who must spend the summer with her twelve cousins.

The series almost immediately drew controversy surrounding its portrayal of some of the characters as stereotypes and the mispronunciations of certain words. In fact the world “Primo” is used as a masculine description while “Prima” is used as a feminine description as the Spanish language tends to use gender specific terms.

There were also criticisms comparing the show to the popular Nickelodeon cartoon The Loud House, which had a very similar premise, with the main character living in a house with ten other adolescent family members.

The situation only worsened when the series’ lead vice actress, Myrna Velasco, took to her Instagram to respond to the backlash and...

‘Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Features the voices of: Jack Dylan Glazer, Jack Griffo, Troy Baker, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Darin De Paul, Tom Kenny, Zeno Robinson, Nolan North, Myrna Velasco | Written by Jeremy Adams | Directed by Matt Peters

Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons marks a couple of firsts, although they’ve had several print team-ups and their own comic, it’s the first on-screen pairing of the sons of DC’s biggest superheroes. It’s also the first of DC’s animated films to be completely done by computer, using the same styling as Marvel’s “What If” series.

It opens with a pre-credits recap of how Superman came to Earth, only with one small addition, which may seem puzzling, but will be explained later in the film. That’s followed by what is basically another origin story, that of Superboy, aka Jonathan Kent the son of Superman, and Lois Lane.

The upcoming film Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! appears to confirm fan speculation about Velma Dinkley’s interest in women.

HBO Max’s new movie was made available for purchase via digital platforms Tuesday, and footage from it has circulated widely on social media. After Velma seems smitten upon meeting Coco, a fashion designer with a criminal past, Velma’s longtime friend and fellow detective Daphne (Grey Griffin) quips, “I didn’t know convicted felons were your type.”

This leads a flustered Velma to reply, “What? Type — me? Please. Who has time for a type? We have our work cut out for us, and I am focused like a laser on … Ok,...

In a scene from the toon pic, the brainy, bespectacled Mystery Inc. character is visibly smitten with a female foil.

Enter Coco Diablo (Myrna Velasco), the head of the notorious costume crime syndicate behind the creepy costumes. As Coco tosses her long white hair, Velma mentally surveys the scene and notes: “Incredible glasses!” “Amazing turtleneck!” “Obviously brilliant!” “Loves animals!”

John Saavedra Sep 30, 2019

Star Wars Resistance season 2 is happening and it's coming in Fall 2019. Here's everything you need to know...

Star Wars Resistance season 2 is set for liftoff, according to Disney. The show was renewed midway through the first season, which sees Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot turned Resistance spy, investigate a station called the Colossus and its connections to the First Order. Along the way, he makes a few friends and participates in high-stakes races with a pretty junky ship called the Fireball.

The show, which is set years after Return of the Jedi and just before The Force Awakens, has plenty of connections to Episode VII. The valiant Poe Dameron plays a supporting role on the show as Kazuda's mentor while Captain Phasma leads her forces in the days before her mission to Jakku. General Hux and Starkiller Base have also appeared on the series. As an extension of the Sequel Trilogy,...

‘Star Wars’: No Jedi? No Wars? No Problem! Here’s How ‘Resistance’ Is Different From the Rest of the Galactic Franchise
George Lucas
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, George Lucas created a sci-fi franchise so vast and so enduring, new stories are still being told. The latest installment in that universe is Disney’s animated series “Star Wars Resistance,” which takes place between the events of “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.”

In the series, New Republic pilot Kazuda Xiono (Christopher Sean) is recruited by Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) as a spy on Colossus, a massive refueling station on the ocean planet Castilon. While he works as a mechanic, he also gets involved racing the ace pilots who are defending the station.

“Resistance” isn’t just a retread of the same two-sided conflict story that’s been told before in “Star Wars,” and it both looks and feels different as well. Here’s a breakdown of how “Resistance” sets itself apart from the rest of the galactic franchise:

"Star Wars Resistance" - 'Team Aces'
Take a look at more new footage from the anime-inspired, LucasFilm TV series "Star Wars Resistance", highlighting the pilot 'aces', airing over the Disney Channel and Disney Xd worldwide, October 7, 2018:

"...'Torra Doza' (Myrna Velasco) is the daughter of 'Captain Doza and the youngest of the group. 'Hype Fazon' (Donald Faison) is the best pilot in the Aces, but he makes no secret he's only in it for the credits and the glory. 'Griff Halloran' (Stephen Stanton) was a 'Tie' pilot during the age of the 'Galactic Empire' and he still makes use of his gear from 'the good old days'. 'Freya Fenris' (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) is serious, logical, and does not suffer fools lightly.

"Now 'Poe Dameron' tasks young pilot 'Kazuda Xiono' with spying on the 'First Order'. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength. In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station 'Colossus',...

Cool New Star Wars Resistance Promo Introduces Us To The Aces Pilot Team
I’ve got a great new featurette for Lucasfilm’s upcoming animated series Star Wars Resistance. It introduces us to a team of talented and daring pilots known as The Aces and in the process shows off a lot of cool new footage that offers us some insight into who these characters are and the role that they’ll play in the series. This team of pilots are hired to serve and protect the Colossus platform in the series. This is actually a group of fun and interesting characters. I’m pretty excited about this series and I like everything that I’ve seen from it so far!

When the show was first announced, we learned that it would revolve around a character named Kazuda Xiono, who is described as "a young pilot recruited by the Resistance whose mission is to spy on the growing threat of the First Order.

New Featurette and Poster For Star Wars Resistance Spotlights the Main Characters
A new piece of poster art and a featurette have been released for Lucasfilm's upcoming animated series Star Wars Resistance and they highlight the new characters that will fill the story and make up Team Fireball. I also like the little tagline that comes with it: "Some Heroes Stick To The Plan. Others Just Wing It."

The Fireball team consists of, Jarek Yeager, former Rebellion pilot who is trying to live a quiet life as a mechanic. That all changes when Poe and Leia ask for his help; Tam Ryvora, a fellow mechanic who used to be a racer herself before she lost her ship. “She’s tough, no-nonsense, she kind of has attitude"; Neeku, a green naive alien, who is an "unbelievably positive, happy character"; and Bucket, a droid who has a thing for wearing X-wing fighter pilot helmets.

I enjoyed what I saw in the trailer that...

Star Wars Resistance Assembles Its Ace Pilots With New Banner Image
X-wings, fall in!

Disney and Lucasfilm have peeled back the tarpaulin on a shiny new banner image for Star Wars Resistance, and this one is all about assembling the next generation of fighter pilots.

Front and center here is Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono (voiced by Days of Our Lives alum Christopher Sean), the Resistance’s latest recruit who hopes to spy on the First Order and impress his commanding officer, who just so happens to be Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).

Remember, this newfangled animated series takes place before The Force Awakens, meaning Poe is yet to cross paths with Finn and Rey. It opens up a fascinating avenue for Resistance to explore, too, and we know from Rebels and The Clone Wars that Lucasfilm tends to strike lucky when dabbling with animated adventures set within the Star Wars universe.

Will Star Wars Resistance uphold that trend? Who knows, but below you’ll see Kaz and Co.

The Resistance is afoot.

Ahead of its fall premiere on Disney Xd, the Mouse House has officially peeled back the curtain on Star Wars Resistance, the anime-inspired TV show which features the voices of Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie (and Bb-8!), the star-crossed duo who were previously seen at loggerheads during The Last Jedi.
