Neither of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon movies received an overly warm response from critics or, for that matter, sci-fi fans. Now, though, both Part One: A Child of Fire and Part Two: The Scargiver are getting a second chance on Netflix with R-Rated director's cuts.
According to the Justice League helmer, these will allow fans to "experience Rebel Moon the way I've envisioned it," a peculiar statement when the first two versions being released on streaming (rather than in theaters) should have meant Snyder had the creative freedom to do as he saw fit.
"Delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon - Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness," reads an official description.

Netflix has shared the official Red Band trailer and key art for the two-part Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cut. Part One and Part Two will both debut on August 2, 2024.
Delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of Rebel Moon — Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon – Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness.
In Snyder’s director’s cut, a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, and Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.
Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war who share a common need for redemption and revenge.

Netflix has just released the official Red Band trailer to part one of Snyder’s Director’s Cuts, which features a bevy of blood, steamy sex scenes and even robot boobs. We've known for quite a while now that both parts of Zack Snyder's Netflix sci-fi saga Rebel Moon, A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, will be re-released as R-rated extended editions, and the filmmaker has now unveiled a first official look along with the brand-new titles and a premiere date.
Both Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice Of Blood and Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness will be available to stream on Netflix from August 2.
The movies have also been given an official R-rating for "brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language".

We knew it was only a matter of time, and Screen Junkies has now released an "Honest Trailer" for the second and final(?) movie in Zack Snyder's Star Wars-inspired sci-fi saga, Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver, aka, "Harvest Moon 2: Pain and Grain."
The guys don't have to work very hard to find things to make fun of here, but this still proves to be one of the funnier Honest Trailers we've seen in quite a while.
There's also a "restore the SnyderVerse" nod in there, but as is often the case, arguably the biggest laughs come from the character name changes ("Phone-In the Barbarian") right at the end.
Have a look at the Honest Trailer for The Scargiver below.

Both parts of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, are now streaming on Netflix, but we know that extended editions of the sci-fi adventures are on the way, and it seems they've been given completely different titles.
Though this has yet to be made official, Film Ratings lists the director's cut of Part 1 as "Rebel Moon - Chapter One: Chalice Of Blood," and the movie has also been given an official R-rating for "brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language".
As Snyder has previously noted, it sounds like these extended cuts are going to be significantly more adult-oriented than the standard versions.
"They're each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]," the filmmaker told I Minutemen in a recent interview. "So it'll be nice to see the six hours together. You can take a break, of course. It's a more,...

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is a drastically more watchable film than its predecessor, which spent so much time place-setting that it forgot to tell an actual story. The Scargiver is, essentially, the propulsive second and third acts that Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire was missing. All the heroes that our heroine, Kora (Sofia Boutella), collected in the first film have finally arrived on the farming planet of Veldt, ready to help defend it against the encroaching fascist armies of the Motherworld. From here, it’s basically the fast and loose Seven Samurai redux that A Child of Fire had been hinting at from minute one, with our legendary heroes helping to prepare this village of pacifist farmers to go to war.

The confused nature of the theatrical window for streamer-owned films reached a new level of absurdity with Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire. Not only is this blockbuster behemoth merely the first installment of a two-part film—the second, subtitled The Scargiver, is set to be released in April—it’s a truncated version of its maker’s substantially longer preferred cut, which makes the film two-thirds of one-half of a story.
Rebel Moon began life as a Star Wars project before Snyder’s concept was turned down, and the resulting film often sounds as though the director and co-writers Kurt Johnsta and Shay Hatten did little more to their draft than perform a find-and-replace for any terms trademarked by Disney. The film even piggybacks off of George Lucas’s indebtedness to Kurosawa Akira: Its protagonist, Kora (Sofia Boutella), is a disillusioned veteran of the “Motherworld” autocracy who,...

Filmmaker Zack Snyder has affirmed online speculation surrounding his forthcoming Netflix space opera Rebel Moon, confirming that it will be split into two films, with multiple cuts to be released of each installment.
Snyder’s comments came as part of an interview with Vanity Fair, also featuring his producing partner and wife, Deborah Snyder. In it, Deborah explains that the decision to expand Rebel Moon into a two-parter emerged from a dialogue with higher-ups at Netflix, including Film chairman Scott Stuber. “Originally, the script was one movie, but it was in ‘Zack form,'” she says. “It was 172 pages.”
In coming to understand that the film would come in at around a three-hour runtime, she explains, “Stuber was like, ‘On the service, under-two-hour movies really do better for some reason,’ even though you’ll binge-watch a series of eight episodes.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards returned to television Monday, with host Zachary Levi and a number of pop culture favorites.
Dominating this year’s nominations with four apiece were front runners “Avengers: Endgame,” which took home the evening’s best movie award, and “Game of Thrones,” which won best show. The Oscar-nominated documentary “Rbg” also scored four nods but was overtaken by the evening’s best documentary winner “Surviving R. Kelly.”
This year’s show also featured three new categories: reality royalty (“Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta”), most meme-able moment (“The Bachelor”) and best real-life hero (Ruth Bader Ginsburg) in addition to the show’s new tradition — started in 2017 — which refrains from separating nominees by gender.
Additionally, Dwayne Johnson was honored with the Generation Award, and Jada Pinkett Smith took home the Trailblazer Award.

“Game of Thrones” and “Avengers: Endgame” took home the top prizes at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Monday.
The final season of HBO’s fantasy epic came into the night tied for the most nominations with the Marvel superhero team-up and the documentary “Rbg,” but ultimately lost out in a few categories to a pair of “Avengers” stars, “Captain Marvel” actress Brie Larson and “Endgame” star Robert Downey Jr.
Other winners included Sandra Bullock for her “frightened” performance in Netflix’s “Bird Box,” the kiss shared between “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” co-stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo and “A Star Is Born” star Lady Gaga.
As previously announced, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was honored with the “Generation” Award at the Zachary Levi-hosted show, while Jada Pinkett Smith took home the “Trailblazer” Award.

Do you agree that the Marvel blockbuster will achieve a clean sweep?
These awards are decided by MTV fans voting online, so popularity counts for a lot, and it’s hard to get more popular than “Endgame,” which is the second-biggest moneymaker of all time domestically not accounting for inflation ($826 million), and the second-biggest worldwide too ($2.73 billion). “Bird Box” was a surprise word-of-mouth hit when it premiered on Netflix last winter. The horror film stars Sandra Bullock as a woman struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where she’s forced to keep herself and her children blindfolded or else succumb to a supernatural force that causes suicidal madness. So she’s literally scared senseless in the film. Do you think she’ll win the MTV Movie and TV Award for Most Frightened Performance?
Bullock has a long history at these kudos, going all the way back to her breakthrough role in “Speed” 25 years ago. That film won her three MTV Movie Awards (long before they started including TV shows): Best Female Performance, Most Desirable Female and Best On-Screen Duo with Keanu Reeves. Since then MTV has also nominated her for performances in “While You Were Sleeping,” “The Net,” “The Proposal,” “The Blind Side” and “Gravity.

Two of this year’s biggest pop-culture entities, “Avengers: Endgame” and “Game of Thrones,” led the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards nominations.
This year’s show will feature three new categories: reality royalty, most meme-able moment, and best real-life hero. And continuing the precedent set in the 2017 show, the awards will not separate nominees by gender.
Marvel’s box office behemoth “Avengers: Endgame” dominated on the film front with four nominations, including best movie. The Oscar-nominated documentary “Rbg,” a touching non-fiction film about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, nabbed four nods: best movie, most meme-able moment, best fight, and real-life hero.
HBO’s “Game of Thrones” led the way for TV with four nominations. The final season of the fantasy epic was recognized for best show, best hero (Maisie Williams as Arya Stark), best performance (Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen), and best fight (Arya Stark vs. the White Walkers).
