Survivor's 43rd season is now well underway and has chipped away each week at its cast of new castaways, all of whom want to go down in the Survivor history books. Early in the season, tensions are low and emotions remain relatively under control. However, this can change fast in the isolated game of Survivor.
The show has a history of contestants who have wild temper tantrums on the island. The reasons for these range from not being on rewards to a vote not going one's way. It is easy to sit back and watch from the couch and say they these players were overreacting, but, in most cases, all of these emotions are warranted for their specific situation.

In honor of the upcoming 40th season of the beloved reality series, which premiered in 2000, here are some of the most shocking moments of the last 20 years of “Survivor” — from full-frontal nudity on national television to Dan Spilo getting kicked off the show last season. Season 40 premieres Feb. 12 at 8/7c on CBS.
Dan Spilo Gets Kicked Off the Show
The Hollywood talent manager was ejected from “Survivor: Island of the Idols” in 2019 following accusations of inappropriate touching, making him the first person to ever be kicked off the show. He has since said he is “deeply sorry.”
Season 1 Winner Richard Hatch Jailed for Tax Evasion
He was known as somewhat of a villain during his 2 stints on the show, but even more drama plagued Hatch after his time on “Survivor.” He ended up having to serve time in federal prison for tax evasion. Forbes has a good explainer of what happened there.

"In polite social encounters, learn to probe. Ask indirect questions to get people to reveal their weaknesses and intentions." --Law 14: Pose as a Friend, Work as a Spy, The 48 Laws of Power Some Survivor contestants are physical powerhouses. Some are brilliant gamers. Some flirt their way to victory. But last night, Wendy Jo unveiled a never before seen Survivor strategy. “I don’t have any blisters on my feet,” she bragged to her tribe. Unfortunately, even that superpower wasn’t enough. The kooky goat farmer fulfilled her husband’s predictions and became the first contestant eliminated from Survivor: Nicaragua.

The four-member Foa Foa tribe merged with the eight-member Galu tribe on last week's episode of "Survivor: Samoa," and it looked to be a sure bet that Galu would knock off the Foa Foa members one, two, three, four. But they surprised everyone by voting off one of their own: Erik Cardona. "The Insider" talks to the ousted castaway to get his take on the game. "The Insider": Last week's vote was a total blindside. Do you think it was a done deal in camp, or do you think the things you said at Tribal Council, where you sounded so confident, could have changed people's minds? Erik Cardona: If anything, the things that I said at Tribal Council -- and they didn't show the whole thing for time reasons -- there was a lot of "Go Purple! Rah! Rah! Rah!" and "I am loyal, I am bleeding purple until I die,...

Erik Cardona, a 28-year-old bartender who recently started a production company in Los Angeles called Carson Brothers Creations, was the first post-merge cast-off on Survivor: Samoa despite being a member of the dominant Galu tribe. He spoke with People about the unexpected turn of events and why he didn't play that darn idol. --Carrie Bell You have joined an elite club of players who find their tiki torches snuffed despite having an idol in their pocket. You put me in that exclusive club with guys like Ozzie, James and Brendan and that’s a hell of a compliment. I’m proud, but it’s bittersweet because everyone would rather not be in that club in hindsight. Why didn’t you play it? Was it truly a blindisde? The whole thing was done in five minutes. It was an idea that caught fire and morphed into more than the truth. It...

Erik Cardona was one of the most charismatic contestants on Survivor: Samoa, but we only got a taste of what he had to offer on the show. Erik, as much as anyone, was a victim of the editing's strong Foa Foa focus this season. Because the 28 year old writer from Ontario, Canada, is more than the brash and cocky guy who got clotheslined first by an actual clothesline and then by the right arm of his own tribe. Erik also provided one of our most compelling Survivor: Samoa interviews, and he confidently answered some challenging questions.

It's bad enough getting blindsided by your own tribe, but then Survivor: Samoa's Erik Cardona suffered the ultimate indignity when he found himself the unwitting victim of an unreciprocated high five! The ousted contestant joins us as we relive every single nanosecond of the humiliating exchange—frame by excruciating frame. Erik also answers other Survivor mysteries like: Why was he always so angry at Foa Foa? Where's his Hidden Immunity Idol? And why did he insist on taking a loaded pistol and shooting himself in the foot? Not only that, but one of your dear Survivor Talk hosts is leaving the proverbial island…...

And then there was one as the Galu and Foa Foa tribes merged into the new Aiga tribe on Thursday's Survivor: Samoa. Team members from both sides quickly started hashing out individual alliances but after a majority had agreed to vote Laura out, she won one of two immunity idols and took her name out of the running. As the remaining players scrambled to agree on another person to boot, Erik Cardona quickly...

Man oh man. If you have any kind of a heart, you have to be feeling for Foa Foa. It's been a long time since a tribe has performed this poorly. You'd have to go all the way back to Survivor: Palau when Stephanie's tribe was decimated week by week until she was the only person left in her tribe. I have to stand up for all of the Survivors from this season. It was a very difficult shoot. The rain was constant and it took a real toll on everybody, crew included. It's so easy to sit at home...

Ashley Trainer got eliminated from "Survivor : Somoa" season 19 episode 5,making her the 5th person to leave "Survivor" this season. The show started,by showing a brief recap of what has been going on in show, leading up to tonight's episode. They recapped how Yasmine got sent home last week. Then they showed more commentary from various contestants on what their plans are, now. Eric gave some brief commentary on how the ocean is. Next, they were presented with another food challenge, which consisted of a series of nasty Somoan smoothies. Each smoothie they were able to get down, won a point for their tribe. Whichever tribe got down the most nasty smoothies, won all the good food. Ashley couldn't get down her smoothie,so tribe Galu won the challenge. Then Russell S decided to send Shannon over to the Foa Foa tribe, which denied her the chance to partake in the feast.

Aren't social dynamics fascinating? I'm guessing that a lot of you watching the show this season are enjoying Shambo. And why not? She's got a great sense of humor and a great head of hair. So why does Galu dislike her so much? Here's my take. I think it comes down to the unpredictable nature of human interaction… social dynamics. You put a group of people together and natural relationships begin to form. Some people quickly connect, others not so much. But give it a few days and the tribe itself begins to form a personality. As a tribe, Galu is a young,...

This is the 19th in a series of interviews with Survivor Samoa cast members. Erik Cardona is smart, articulate, and self-confident, a word I use instead of arrogant because his cockiness comes with self-awareness and a lot of charisma. Like a younger, male version of Betsy Bolan, he's extraordinarily likable and also very excited about playing, and I couldn't believe that Erik would be an alternate who could potentially go home while, say, someone so... keep reading » » read the full story and comment, or find the latest news about Survivor Samoa
