Forget trailer debuts during football game halftimes or shown through “Fortnite,” the next frontier of debuting movie trailers is watching it on a screen that happens to be orbiting the Earth.
The first trailer for “Transformers One,” Paramount Animation and Hasbro’s animated “Transformers” origin movie, was screened inside a spacecraft that an hour ago launched from the Earth and traveled 125,000 feet into outer space. Paramount, via star Chris Hemsworth’s Instagram, did a livestream of the spacecraft launch followed by the first look at the trailer.
Why do this? “The sky is the limit” for the film, Hemsworth said in announcing the stunt.
Okay, technically, we first all saw it on ground level at CinemaCon last week, 3-D glasses and all. “Transformers One” is the first animated “Transformers” movie in 40 years, and to inaugurate the 40-year anniversary of the Transformers brand, the film is an origin story for how...

One year after Paramount Pictures broke news at CinemaCon that Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Brian Tyree Henry had signed on for the animated Transformers One — the first animated film in the franchise in nearly four decades — the studio welcomed that trio back to introduce their work.
Hemsworth, Johansson and Henry had official duties during Paramount’s studio presentation by pumping a new extended trailer that played for the gathering of theater owners (ahead of a wide launch April 18) as well as pulling back the curtain on the first scene from Transformers One in 3D. Johansson appeared on the big screen in a recorded message from New York, where she’s at work on her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great.
“I’m so incredibly proud of the the work that we’ve all done,” the actress said, teasing that the film is “unlike anything you’ve ever seen onscreen.”

Hasbro has set its leadership team for its “asset-lite” entertainment division, a series of moves that come after the toymaker sold eOne to Lionsgate for $500 million and it “right-sizes” its entertainment footprint with a focus on kids content.
Olivier Dumont, previously President of Family Brands for eOne, will run Hasbro Entertainment, the company said Wednesday. Gabriel Marano, who was Co-Head of Scripted Development for eOne, will oversee television and Zev Foreman, who was President of Film Production for eOne, will run film.
Dumont becomes President of Hasbro Entertainment, with Marano as Head of Television and Foreman as Head of Film. Foreman and Marano were primarily focused on Hasbro IP projects while at eOne and will continue this work in their new roles for Hasbro.
Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks said Hasbro Entertainment would have a new “marquee mission” to develop, finance and produce entertainment based on its brands after the sale.

‘Alien TV’.
Netflix has taken the global rights to eOne and Pop Family Entertainment’s family series Alien TV.
Commissioned by the Nine Network, the 26 x 30 minute series aimed at 6-to-11 year olds and their families will premiere in Australia on Nine later this month, with Netflix to follow globally.
Alien TV follows the slapstick misadventures of an extra-terrestrial television news crew as they try to understand the wild, baffling and sometimes ‘just-plain-weird’ life on a newly discovered planet called… Earth. It combines real world imagery with CGI animation, following the news crew as they report back on the mysteries of this strange new world to their curious alien audience.
The series is an Australian/Canadian co-production produced with the financial support of Create Nsw. Pop Family Entertainment CEO Carmel Travers is the producer, working with writers Bruce Griffiths, Simon Dodd, Cleon Prineas and Charlotte Hamlyn, and director Ian Brown.
