On January 1, 2024, NBC premiered Episode 1 of “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League.” The new spin-off series marks the return of former judge Mel B as she joins Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel in a head-to-head competition to mentor an all star “AGT” act through the season to victory. Terry Crews is back once again for hosting duties.
Over eight weeks of shows, the judges’ Dream Teams of 10 will be narrowed down until only one stands as the newest AGT champion and takes home the $250,000 cash prize. That act will also give their mentor the first coach’s win in AGT history. In the four qualifiers, 10 acts perform with one receiving the week’s Golden Buzzer and five others advancing to the next round based on an audience vote.

The series premiere of “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League” delivered the reality TV show’s first major twist when Mel B utilized her Golden Buzzer to steal Billy & Emily England from Simon Cowell‘s team. Remember, for NBC’s “AGT” spin-off series, each judge cultivates their own team of 10 all-star acts, fan-favorites and former winners, but the Golden Buzzer twist allows the judges to “steal” someone else’s contestant and advance them into the season finale. (Think of it as “The Voice” on steroids.)
“I feel really excited. I feel amazing,” Mel B proclaimed during the January 1 episode after the confetti fell onto the brother-sister rollerblading duo. The camera then cut to Simon, who gritted his teeth in anger. Watch the Golden Buzzer video above.
Emily seemed to rub salt in Simon’s wound when she told host Terry Crews, “Honestly, when Simon called me, the 11-year-old Emily was a little bit upset.

Last week “America’s Got Talent” season 17 advanced to the second stage of the competition, known as “Qualifiers.” In this second round, 55 acts are divided into five groups for five weeks of performances, all in the hopes of advancing to The Finals. While series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are still around to offer their support and critique of the acts, the power is out of their hands and rests all America’s vote. “America’s Got Talent” continued the final phase of its unconventional season 15 on Tuesday with the third live performance show and Wednesday with the results of that show based on audience votes. In this quarter-finals round, which consists of four episodes, 11 acts per night will perform for the judges. On the August 25 live show, judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara were alone on the panel while Simon Cowell remained absent while recovering from surgery.
Of Tuesday’s 11 acts that performed, only five of them will advance to the next round, the semi-finals. Those 11 acts were: Simon’s Golden Buzzer act dance group W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew and Heidi’s Golden Buzzer act singer Cristina Rae, aerialist Alan Silva, dance crews Bone Breakers and Dance Town Family, drummer Malik Dope, magician Max Major, stand-up comedian Usama Siddiquee, and singers Annie Jones, Nolan Neals, and Sheldon Riley.

The superfans on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” are a controversial bunch, and for good reason. At-home viewers are frustrated, maybe even a little jealous, that these delegates from all 50 states get to call the shots instead of them. (See how the voting process works.) Love ’em or hate ’em, the superfans are here to stay on “The Champions” as we approach the February 10 finale. But are they biased toward homegrown American acts, since they’re obviously already familiar with their stories? Or do the superfans deserve credit for voting for performers from all around the world? Let’s investigate.

Hey, "America's Got Talent" fans. Tonight, September 4, 2019, another results/elimination show for the semifinals did indeed air, and six unlucky acts got sent to elimination hell when it was all said and done. The judges: Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough and Simon Cowell were all on hand to give out their "save." Tonight's results show kicked off with recap footage from last night's performances. After that, host Terry Crews revealed that the Light Balance Kids, the Ndlovu Youth Choir and Robert Finley landed in the 4th, 5th and 6th place spots during America's vote. That means they were subjected to the Dunkin' Save vote to make it to the finals. Right after that, Terry revealed that Kodi Lee made it to the finals, and Greg Morton got eliminated. At this point, they brought back season 12 winner and finalist Preacher Lawson and Darci Lynne. Preacher eventually hit the stage to do a short comedy set.

The last time that singer Angelica Hale and ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer faced off was in the final of “America’s Got Talent” in the summer of 2017. Farmer won that battle and claimed the million dollar prize and a chance to headline a casino show.
The pair were pitted against each other again in the first season of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” They both competed on the final of this “Agt” spin-off, which aired on Feb. 11. Because this finale was taped last fall, it wasn’t possible to let America vote like it does during the live “Agt” shows each summer. Instead producers turned to a group of superfans that came from across the country to attend these tapings. They got to decide the winner of “Agt: The Champions.”

Are you as frustrated as us that you didn’t get to vote for the winner of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions”? Unlike “Agt,” this spin-off version was not live and was taped last fall. That meant America did not get to take part in picking the winner. Producers chose a group of viewers that they named the Superfans, who attended the tapings.
