Dieynaba Young interned in development at Miramax and completed the Director's Workshop at Barrow Theatre Company, under artistic director Seth Barrish; then served as assistant director on Moises Kaufman's groundbreaking, award winning "The Laramie Project", in the off Broadway production staged at the Arthur Seelen Theater. She was a researcher and assistant to producer Webster Stone, whose credits include "The Negotiator", "Gone in Sixty Seconds" and "The Conspirator". She served as production coordinator at 'DnA' an NYC independent film collaborative where she programmed weekly meetings, castings, rehearsals and member screenings. Young has worked on several experimental projects - highlights include Maryam Jafri's two part video installation "Staged Archive" exhibited at Berlin's Galerie Alexandra Saheb and "50 Bucks in Argentina", which screened at the Cannes Film Festival Short Corner. She was the recipient of an Arcus Foundation grant to work in writing and producing at PBS, under producer Jacqueline Gares. There she assisted in developing, writing and producing news and arts segments like -"Young, Black, and HIV Positive" and "Real to Reel: Derek Jarmen/Isaac Julien". She produced "The Wonder Project"- a feature length experimental film. She has authored several screenplays.
