"All they wanted... was a killer night out." Oh what a tagline. Samuel Goldwyn Films has released an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Dreamcatcher, not to be confused with the other horror film also titled Dreamcatcher from 2003. This new horror film centers on two estranged sisters who, along with their friends, become entrenched in a 48 hour whirlwind of violence & chaos after a traumatic experience at an underground dance music festival. Sounds intense. The film's cast includes Niki Koss, Zachary Gordon, Travis Burns, Blaine Kern III, Olivia Sui, Emrhys Cooper, Elizabeth Posey, Nazanin Mandi, Adrienne Wilkinson, and Lou Ferrigno Jr. This looks absolutely ridiculous, a strange rip-off of Scream using the Phantom of the Paradise mask set at a rave. Even worse this film just doesn't fit in with the times. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jacob Johnston's Dreamcatcher, direct from YouTube: Dylan, known...

Tagline: "Get Ready for a Killer Night Out." Dreamcatcher is the directing debut of Jacob Johnston. Shot in Los Angeles, this feature completed in July of 2020, despite the challenges of shooting. To show in March, this title takes place at an underground music festival. Here, the drug-fueled party turns into a scene of violence as the event spirals out of control. As well, Dreamcatcher stars: Niki Koss (My Stepdaughter), Zachary Gordon (Dead of Summer), Travis Burns (Sunrise in Heaven), Blaine Kern III and several others. The film's early artwork and a still are available now. Johnston's debut also mentions the title is based on a DJ. Dylan (Burns) is set to hit the world stage, when a disaster hits during his set. Now, partiers must face 48 hours of mayhem. The official artwork and early still show the film's villain. Masked, this killer goes about his work with a knife and a hood.

Back in January, one of the things Patrick Bromley and I discussed on our episode of Horrigins was that there were a lot of amazing short films out there, but it can be hard for fans to keep up with all of the content that gets released over time. With that in mind, this writer thought it would be fun to turn the spotlight onto the short format horrors on the internet once a month with our new column, Daily Dead Salutes Your Shorts.
For this first installment, we have a terror-filled trio of short films, including Feeding Time from Matt Mercer (which was an official selection of Screamfest 2016), Jacob Johnston’s Kadence, and Furocious, by the directorial duo of Zachary Eglinton and Brandon Walz. So, sit back and enjoy some bite sized horror-fied treats, and be sure to check back next month for more great short films right here on Daily Dead!
