The Hawai’i International Film Festival (Hiff), presented by Halekulani, revealed its lineup for the 42nd edition of the annual film festival taking place from November 3 to 13 on Oahu and November 17-20 on neighbor islands, with virtual programs streaming from November 3 to 27 nationwide. The program includes 102 features, 124 shorts, and seven nominated film programs. Among the lineup are 111 Hawai‘i premieres, 69 world premieres, 14 U.S. premieres, 10 North American premieres and 7 international premieres from 37 countries. Featuring in-person screenings alongside digital screenings, HIFF42 will be accessible to audiences across the state of Hawai‘i with select availability across the United States.

Iconic Hong Kong filmmaker John Woo will be honored at the 39th edition of the Hawaii International Film Festival. In addition, the fest revealed its lineup which includes Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit as its opening night film and will feature Maui native Destin Daniel Cretton’s Just Mercy as a centerpiece presentation. The fest runs November 7-17 at the Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18.

“The Walking Dead” star Steven Yeun, “Crazy Rich Asians” breakout Awkwafina and legendary director Wong Kar-wai will be among the VIP guests at the 38th edition of the Hawaii International Film Festival next month. The festival runs Nov. 8-18, 2018.
Zhang Yimou’s “Shadow,” is named as the opening film. And Peter Farrelly’s “The Green Book,” which earned the audience award in Toronto, is set as the festival’s centerpiece screening.

Chicago – Full Spectrum Features is one of new production outlets in town, but they are quickly making a mark. Their goal is to get the quality filmmaking that takes place in Chicago to a wider audience, and they are about to launch “Chicagoland Shorts Vol. 2,” continuing from their Vol. 1 success. Vol. 2 will premiere on Saturday, May 14th, 2016, at the Facets Cinémathéque on the city’s north side, and have a run there through May 19th. Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com will moderate a Q&A after the premiere screening.
