Rome, June 12 (Ians) Italy scored their biggest win in European football championship with a 3-0 win over Turkey in the tournament opener.
The Euro 2020, which was postponed last year due to Covid-19 pandemic, is being played in 11 venues.
The Italians, who have won the title only once before -- in 1968 -- and finished runners-up twice, endured a goalless first half as they lacked finishing touches.
Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir parried a powerful header from Giorgio Chiellini as the teams went into break with scores at 0-0.
However, eight minutes after restart, Italy found the net through an own goal.
Forward Domenico Berardi hammered in a low cross which deflected off Turkish centre-back Merih Demiral's body and went into the net.
Then striker Ciro Immobile pounced on a loose ball and fired it past goalkeeper Ugurcan in the 66th minute to make it 2-0.

Rome, March 3 (Ians) Cristiano Ronaldo marked his 600th league game with a low-strike as Juventus put on a second-half show to dominate Spezia 3-0 in Serie A.
Juventus, still struggling with injuries with Alvaro Morata only fit for the bench, hosted Spezia on Tuesday without Paulo Dybala, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Juan Cuadrado, and Arthur, while Matthijs de Ligt was ruled out in the warm-up with Gianluca Frabotta stepping in, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Bianconeri should have established the lead in the first half, but Federico Chiesa's opener in the ninth minute was ruled offside while Ronaldo's curler before the interval rattled the upright.
Juve's head coach Andrea Pirlo made tactical changes by throwing on Morata and Federico Bernardeschi on the hour mark, and the duo made an impact one minute later as Bernardeschi burst down the left and rolled a pass across, Morata got in front of...

With FIFA 21 set to make its debut next week, there’s much to unravel about the game before fans step onto the pitch. With traditional EA Sports norms being slightly altered because of the Covid-19 pandemic, some announcements and reveals have come with a little more flare than usual.

Conceding a last-gasp goal on Football Manager is one of the most harrowing gaming experiences you’ll ever have to endure. It doesn’t matter whether the strike sees the Champions League trophy slip through your fingers, or means your Braintree outfit loses a couple of points to Guiseley in the race for 12th in the Vanarama National League; the pain remains the same.
Sometimes there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. You just have to suck it up and get on with rebuilding the pieces of your broken team, but the most obvious measure you can take to prevent as many horrifying moments as possible is to snap up a pair of unbreakable centre backs.
There are countless solid defenders out there to patch up your lower league teams, but there’s also a certain handful of players who will either slot straight into top level teams,...

Defending is largely overlooked when it comes to the football gaming world yet if you can master the art of a perfectly executed slide tackle or expertly monitor the run of a pacy forward then you’re onto a winner.
Football isn’t just about goals; it’s about heading, full-backs, sweepers, last ditch tackles, elbows and marking. So, before you start your FIFA 16 career mode it’s important you know who your gladiatorial ball-winners are. Who will keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic tucked away in his pocket for ninety minutes or put Neymar into row Z?
Some big names haven’t made this year’s list; Bayern Munich’s David Alaba, Real Madrid’s Rafael Varane and Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny’s 84 ratings aren’t good enough to make the top 25. We have six Premier League players, five Seria A, seven from the Bundesliga and five from La Liga.

After Sir Alex Ferguson left the Theatre of Dreams in 2013, there’s no denying that Manchester United have struggled.
David Moyes would be hand-picked to fill the Sir Alex void, although he underwhelmed many and only lasted a season. The legendary Louis Van Gaal has since taken the reigns at Utd, but he isn’t yet yet hitting the heights that many around the club expect.
Many fans and pundits can see the holes that need filling in the Man Utd line-up, and the general consensus is that Utd are suffering for not replacing established stars sooner, particularly at centre-half and in midfield.
One could make the argument that Utd should be looking at the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Wesley Sniejder, Sergio Ramos, or Lionel Messi. Sure, all great players, all capable of putting in world class performances. But Utd have to...

In some ways, FIFA’s highest rated players list means nothing, but in so many other ways, it means everything. If two team-mates ever need to decide who the better player is, what better judicator than the video game that makes a living out of studying each facet of their technique, fitness and ability?
Every year, the FIFA top 20 causes consternation, controversy and quibbles amongst avid football supporters, as they state their case for the inclusion of their club’s star men. This year, there have certainly been some surprise omissions, and some huge jumpers from last term’s editions.
There will be sure to be sure quarrels and arguments about certain choices, but one thing is for certain – FIFA users will have some fun twiddling their joysticks to control these great players, as they are fine-tuned to within a tee of the real thing.

Luis Suarez must serve the entirety of his four-month ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini after an appeal against the length of the suspension was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. However, the striker has been cleared to train with new club Barcelona having originally been barred from entering football stadiums.
The decision will come as a hammer blow to Suarez, whose lawyers had argued Fifa’s decision to ban him “from all football related activity” was excessive and were previously confident his suspension would be halved upon appeal. Suarez, Barcelona and the Uruguay Fa also argued that Fifa’s extension of the ban to cover domestic matches was disproportionate as the biting incident took place during international duty for Uruguay at this summer’s World Cup.

Once again the football world has focused its attention on Liverpool and Uruguay’s troubled talisman, Luis Suarez. Following on from a highly successful season at Liverpool the striker has attracted a great deal of attention from clubs across Europe, all hoping to capture the prolific goalscorer. His pace, desire and finishing ability has grasped the attention of the biggest clubs in world football and he himself has made it clear he wants to move onto bigger and better things. However, he was in the spotlight for all the wrong seasons during the 2014 World Cup as he bit Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini in his unprecedented third biting incident. This has seen him banned for nine matches and four months from all football activity, ruling him out of pre-season and opening fixtures.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has today completed his £75 million move to Barcelona, and will put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Spanish club. The move brings to an end Suarez’s three season spell at Anfield, and there have been plenty of talking points.
On the pitch, the Uruguayan was undoubtedly brilliant, scoring 82 goals in 133 appearances for the Reds and winning the Golden Boot award last season after netting an astonishing 31 league goals in 33 outings – just one of the reasons why Barca have agreed to pay such a huge sum for the striker – the third largest in the history of Spanish football.
Off the field, however, Suarez’s career has been blighted by a string of controversial incidents, and he has found himself in hot water on numerous occasions in the past, perhaps no more so following his four month ban...

Liverpool have seemingly finally waved goodbye to Uruguayan enfant terrible Luis Suarez, with the striker sealing a €88m move to Spanish giants Barcelona to reshape the forward line of a team who under-performed and under-achieved last season, and in doing so, the Anfield club have swerved the wider implications of the 4 month ban he had hanging around his neck.

Neymar, Brazil’s standout striker, will not be able to help his team continue on its run for a World Cup victory, as he’s been sidelined with a fractured vertebra.
Neymar Fractures Vertebra
In the World Cup quarterfinal game between Brazil and Columbia, a total of 54 fouls were called. One of those fouls, called late in the second half, was against Colombia defender Juan Camilo Zuniga, who leveled Neymar with a knee to the back. Following the play, Neymar remained on his stomach, clearly in pain and reaching at his lower back. The 22-year-old standout was carried off the field on a stretcher.
Following the game, Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, admitted that it was dubious that his best scorer would not be able to return to the pitch for their semifinal game against powerhouse Germany.
“He was crying out in pain,” Scolari said of Neymar in his post-match interview.

USA lost to Belgium in a 2-1 match in the Round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup Tuesday afternoon.
U.S. Loses To Belgium
After 90 minutes of hard-fought play, the score was tied. Belgium had flooded the U.S. penalty box with opportunities on goal, but was repeatedly denied by Tim Howard and the defense. In stoppage time of regulation play, U.S. forward Chris Wondolowski hit a sitter – what could have been a winning goal – over the crossbar.
Early in the first 15-minute overtime half, Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne managed to finally put one in the back of the net. Romelu Lukaku scored the second goal in the 105th minute, putting Belgium ahead by two. Two minutes later, the U.S. started to wage a late-game comeback with a goal by Julian Green on an assist from Michael Bradley. Despite a few more chances on net, the U.S.

Luis Suarez’s exit from Liverpool appears to be moving ever closer. Barcelona are seen as the frontrunners for his signature with numerous national newspapers claiming that the striker is the Catalan club’s top transfer target.
After biting Giorgio Chiellini in Uruguay’s final World Cup group game, Suarez was handed a four-month ban from all football related activity. It means he cannot play, train or even step foot in a stadium. However this has clearly not deterred potential buyers.
A transfer fee of £80 million has been reported by The Daily Mail, while others believe that Barcelona are looking to pay half that amount but with the makeweight of Alexis Sanchez. Either way, Suarez’s actions have had little effect on his price tag.
Suarez has now also apologised for the biting of Chiellini, an act Barcelona would have undoubtedly been eager for him to do.

Luis Suarez’s four-month football ban could have grave implications for Newcastle and our hopes of signing Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
The controversial Liverpool striker will be suspended for the next 21 matches for club and country – including the remainder of the World Cup – after FIFA’s disciplinary committee threw the book at him for biting defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder during Uruguay’s final Group D fixture against Italy.
But Suarez’s heinous on-field conduct doesn’t seem to have put Barcelona off in their chase for the 27-year-old with the Mirror reporting that the Catalan giants are confident they can acquire him for a reduced fee of £50 million as he is “damaged goods” and unable to to play or train until October.

FIFA have handed Uruguay and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez a four month ban from football, in addition to a nine match international ban which ends his World Cup immediately, after he bit Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini in Uruguay’s third World Cup group stage match on Tuesday. The independent disciplinary committee who reviewed the incident decided that the 27 year old Suarez was guilty of misconduct.
The four month ban now throws into question Suarez’s future with Liverpool: he had been widely tipped for a big summer transfer to Barcelona or Real Madrid, but the terms of his ‘ban from footballing activity or administration’ could put a halt to that move. Conflicting sources are reporting that Suarez may or may not be able to transfer.

Luis Suarez has gone and done it again. With one of the worst histories of pitch misconduct in footballing history, Suarez has one again managed to further tarnish his reputation, following Uruguay’s clash with Italy last night.
This time, the Uruguay striker is being accused of biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder. If the accusations prove to be true (judging from the multitudes of evidence, they most certainly are), then this will be the third time Suarez has bitten a player on the pitch.
Despite Uruguay managing to defeat a lackluster Italy during last night’s game, international focus has been placed squarely on the biting incident. With worldwide pressure on FIFA, it seems almost inevitable that Suarez won’t be seeing any more games during this year’s World Cup.
As usual, Twitter has been a great source of reactions to the incident.
