The Claire Wizard Thesis might be a knock-off of Eduardo Sanchez's The Blair Witch Project (1999). In this horror comedy, a new director takes an untested film and acting crew out into the Australian outback. Director Jacob Lewis (Alex Dona) is doing his best to whip this team into shape, but he may have bitten off more than he can chew, with this production. The Claire Wizard Thesis also stars: James Mitry, Rose Marel, Tim Love, Playboy Playmate Krystal Lencova and others. Terror Films has just released the trailer and film poster for this title. Both items can be found here. And, The Claire Wizard Thesis will not be showing at a Sundance Film Festival near you, anytime soon. The Claire Wizard Thesis has been nominated for a number of awards. Recently, the film was nominated for a Jury Award for "Best Screenplay." As well, this indie title was nominated for...

CNBC’s “Restaurant Startup” is not another cooking competition, host and investor Tim Love told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena on Thursday.
“Restaurants are a marriage of two things: art and commerce. It’s the hardest things to put together,” he said. “It’s the sexiest and crappiest investment on the planet.”
In its second season, the series follows Love and Joe Bastianich as they vie against each other to invest their own money in food concepts. Each week, two teams compete and try to sway both restaurateurs. Bastianich, former judge on Fox’s “Masterchef,...

Update, 11:40 Am: One of CNBC‘s new series Restaurant Kickstart adds to the business network’s roster of reality-competition fare. Debuting in July, it follows wannabe restaurateurs launching pop-up establishments with $7,500 in seed money, on Melrose Avenue. Start-ups, chef and co-star Tim Love said today at the network’s NBC Press Day panel, are getting to be “more and more focused,” he said, citing The Meatball Shops that have opened up around New York, and one of this show’s would-be restaurateurs who wanted to serve all her meals in waffle cones — “she thinks that’s the next big thing,” he said. In this new program, competitors must create and open a pop-up restaurant almost overnight. Love and show host Joe Bastianich then decide, based on the results, whether to invest more heavily in the entrepreneur. Unlike the pantheon of food competition series on TV these days, “it’s...

In one of the most logical TV tie-ins ever, "Top Chef" is setting sail! Bravo has announced an official "Top Chef" cruise featuring judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons and former cheftestants like Spike Mendelsohn, Angelo Sosa and Jennifer Carroll, who will travel from Miami to Mexico in April 2013.
Photos: "Top Chef Texas"
We all know the best (and worst) part of a cruise is the non-stop gourmet food, so to take such awesome chefs on board for cooking demos, Quickfire challenges, "Top Chef" menus and more "Tc"-related events, according to topchefthecruise.com, makes total sense.
You can buy tickets starting Aug. 16 ranging in price from $699 to $5,999 (that's what a penthouse suite with veranda will set you back). So far, Mendelsohn, Sosa, Carroll, Hubert Keller, Tim Love, Tiffany Derry, Chris Hanmer, Michael Isabella, Hosea Rosenberg and Casey Thopmpson have all signed on, but the cruise's website promises many more to come.

It’s Top Chef Texas episode 7, entitled “Game On”, which was also the title of the first episode of the first reality show in history (a 1932 radio serial called “Y’all Survive Now, Y’hear?” where contestants tried to literally survive the Dust Bowl. They’d always be like, “I’m here to cook My food to survive the Dust Bowl”.) The guest judge is Tim Love (surprised it’s taken this long to see him), and for the Quickfire, the chefs will have to prepare dishes that pair well with Don Julio tequila, meaning, they will have to prepare a dish and set it next to some tequila. “I made a lime-infused worm with an end of night bad idea reduction…” After 12 shots of tequila, Tim and Padma are a little tipsy when it comes time to judge: Ed declares, “Tequila and Tim Love? Sounds like a great way to spend a morning.

Chicago – The newest season of Bravo’s hit series “Top Chef” will feature six cast members from right here in Chicago. “Top Chef: Texas,” which premieres November 2 at 9 p.m. Cst, will feature a total of 29 chefs vying for the season 9 crown.
The total of 29 chefs starting off the competition is quite a step for the series, as the seasons before hand have only contained up to 17 or 18 “chef’testants.” This amount of initial contestants helped Chicago to gain six different hopefuls. The six chefs from Chicago that will take part in the new season come from a variety of different restaurants all around the city:
Chef Beverly Kim comes from Aria Restaurant which “engages a contemporary twist on conventional dining. A surprisingly experiential and engaging concept offering a bold menu of new world Asian cuisine, combined with a delectable selection of sushi variations.”

People have been buzzing about the possibility, and then the reality, of Top Chef Texas, for months. Now, finally, Bravo has released serious details about the ninth season of the chef competition. The show will premiere November 2nd, at 10 pm, just in time for National Deviled Egg Day. But most importantly, Bravo has released all the names and restaurant affiliations of the season's contestants. It's heavy on chefs from New York, La, Chicago and Seattle. There are even two cooks from one pioneering Windy City eatery, Moto. (Funny coincidence or an ingenious casting director strategy to drum up drama? Despite the Texan setting, there are only two chefs from the Lone Star State, and just a handful of contestants from other states in the South.

I'm not exactly a fan of camping. So I can only imagine how I would have fared had I been thrown into the challenge facing the cheftestants on this week's episode of Top Chef: Las Vegas ("Camping"), where they were tasked with creating a high-end lunch for twenty-four diners under some rather adverse conditions. Namely: outside in the heat over open flames. Some chefs attempted to take the easy route and make ceviche, incorrectly thinking that the acid-cured fish would be just the thing to cool down some cowboys on the ranch after a long morning. Not quite. Others realized that they needed to stick to their own flavor profiles and aesthetics and offer up dishes that could work in white-tablecloth restaurants but that could be tweaked slightly for the ranch. So how did the chefs perform this week? Let's discuss. Former Top Chef Masters contestant Tim Love was...

Just out of curiosity, how many of you tuned in last night for the series premiere of Bravo's Top Chef Masters ("Masters Get Schooled"), the spin-off series for its venerable Top Chef series? You read my advance review of the series premiere yesterday, but I'd love to know what you thought of the episode itself and the new format of the series, in which four chefs will compete head-to-head over six weeks to determine who will move on to the final rounds. Last night's episode featured Hubert Keller, Christopher Lee, Michael Schlow, and Tim Love as they were tasked first with creating a dessert plate for a group of Girl Scouts in under thirty minutes and then had to create a three-course meal for some college students using only a microwave, hot-plate, and mini-convection oven in an actual dorm room. So how did they do? Let's discuss. I thought that...
