15 Strongest Frieren Characters, Ranked
Image
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is a fantasy anime unlike any other. It forgoes a more traditional focus on combat and opts to tell a very personal story about adventurers traveling together. However, that doesn't mean that there isn't any action at all. Frieren features its fair share of monstrous obstacles and shows off how strong all the characters are as they face wandering dangers.

The strongest characters aren't necessarily the oldest or most experienced. Sometimes, characters are strong because they work at their crafts tirelessly – honing their skills with each encounter. Characters of various ages and races are among the strongestFrieren characters.

Updated on February 23, 2025 by Robbie Robinson: Really, there's a plethora of overpowered characters in Frieren. Because of that, the battles end up being perfectly suspenseful and exciting. While Frieren seems like an easy choice for the top spot, there are actually some characters that are regarded as being much stronger.

Spy x Family Gets Positive Update Despite Creator Apology
Image
Spy x Family creator Tatsuya Endo recently kicked off February with a brand-new installment of his beloved manga series. However, the author felt compelled to issue a formal apology on social media regarding the new chapter's length.

Compared to previous installments, Chapter 111 is a relatively short episode that peers into the mind of Anya Forger, the series' adorable child telepath. Shortly after the manga's release, Endo issued a public fan message via his verified X (formerly Twitter) page. "I apologize, due to the year-end and New Year's proofreading schedule, the pages have become extremely short, but considering the content, we are treating it as part of the main story," he wrote. "Thank you for your understanding." The post was accompanied by a humorous illustration of Anya as a butterfly, which also serves as a subtle nod to the chapter's contents.

Sakamoto Daysis a delightful new anime series blending action and slice of life through its main duo: Taro Sakamoto the convenience store worker and his new friend/employee, Shin. “That’s like spy 101”: ‘Spy x Family’ Cannot Make Yor a Proper Assassin After Robbing Her of the Most Important Skill
Image
Spy x Family is celebrated for its perfect blend of action, comedy, and heartwarming moments in a setting that seems too weird to be true on paper. There are certain aspects of the series that push the boundaries of common understanding. It seems normal for a comedy-based anime, but in the end, it sticks out to the observant viewer.

Loid and Yor Forger in the anime | Credit: Wit Studio

Many events are not of substantial impact and can just be glossed over. However, the most noticeable one, and the one that irks the fans the most among all of them, is Yor Forger’s portrayal as a world-class assassin.

Yor’s character breaks the assassin’s trope

The series has a seemingly ignorant and naive view of Yor, and the series conveniently ignores one of the most crucial skills an operative of her caliber should possess, the skill of seduction for infiltration.

10 Best Anime For Fans of the Beauty and the Beast
Image
Anime is no stranger to fairy tale tropes. Depending on what series fans check out, they'll find everything from twists on familiar tales, like Snow White with the Red Hair, to classics told in a different setting, like My Happy Marriage. It's only natural that some anime would take the typical Beauty and the Beast trope and pair someone sweet with a monstrous soul.

However, there are many ways one can write a trope. Some monstrous souls are simply ordinary humans that don't match beauty standards. Others are little monsters or beasts. Some even have curses cast on them. No matter how the anime displays this familiar trope, Beauty and the Beast is always a lovable classic to fall back on.

10 Shojo Anime That Went Too Far (But Fans Still Loved It)
Image
Shojo is technically a demographic; it's anime and manga written and marketed for a young, female audience. It's also referenced almost as a wider genre of its own, because shojo anime follows certain conventions, like telling romance and character-driven (rather than plot-driven) stories. Some shojo stories are incredibly melodramatic, to where fans often compare them to soap-operas.

Fans enjoy those shojo titles for the drama. They push the envelope, and keep the audience hooked, making them wonder what could happen next. Not all zany anime is written equally. While some anime are poorly written but enjoyed for their shock value and humor, others are well-written soap operas with nuance and purpose.

Anime has no shortage of incredibly iconic characters who get fans hyped and move loads of merchandise. 10 Shonen Anime Characters with The Strongest Punches, Ranked
Image
When it comes to anime, characters use different methods of fighting in battle. Each of them specializes in something, whether it's with weapons, words or even fists. Various characters display excellent swordsmanship, manipulation of ki, and other spectacular and flashy means of engaging their opponents. But nothing is as satisfying as a good punch.

While some characters are known for their knockout power, others can be surprisingly strong in a pinch or even for comic relief. That said, unlike Saitama from One Punch Man, their strength isn't meant to be a (hilarious and genuinely entertaining) gag. And in contrast to a Goku or Vegeta, some of these characters aren't universally powerful, which would make everything they do stronger. Out of the many fist fights throughout different series, these are the ten characters with the strongest punches in all of shonen.

10 Shonen Heroes Dandadan’s Okarun Could Beat

Dandadan’s Okarun has proven to be one of the most powerful characters in the series. His ghostly abilities to move at lightning speed and his incredible durability have made him a perfect candidate to take down spirits and aliens alike. Okaun, in his spirit form, is so powerful that he could even defeat many of the best shonen heroes.

These heroes may be the best in their own shows, but Okarun has them beat in terms of strength and agility. If Okarun were to go head-to-head with any of these shonen characters, Okarun would certainly come out on top. He may have a nihilistic attitude, but he has the endurance to take down any of these shonen heroes with ease.

10 Smartest Characters in Anime History
Image
Strong characters are a dime a dozen in the world of anime, which is why it's so impressive when characters are able to compete with near-demi gods sheerly thanks to their intellect. While a lot of shows are about a strong character, or a character getting strong, smart characters have their own place among anime's elite. Characters like Shikamaru from Naruto are so smart, that they're able to overcome the biggest problems by simply using their brain. Other characters like Ayanokoji from Classroom of the Elite still use their intelligence, albeit for less noble means.

Intelligent characters in anime are always hard to understand. They're thinking a few steps ahead of everyone in their own series, and the viewer as well. It takes a lot of skill to write a character so smart that they're in a league of their own. Whenever an anime series does feature an extra-smart character,...

Not every series is a home-run, but A-1 Pictures has produced some great anime content.

The best anime from A-1 Pictures typically targets younger audiences, but certain series are darker and more mature than others. Many of these anime are based on manga or another type of source material, but a few are original works that were created by A-1 Pictures. Whether it is a shonen, a mech series, or a romance story, A-1 Pictures genuinely does a great job of bringing anime to life.

The 10 Best Episodic Anime, Ranked
Image
Episodic anime are a refreshing change of pace from more traditional series like Naruto, Bleach and Dragon Ball that have ongoing, overarching plots. It can be just as fun when each episode tells an entirely new story. Oftentimes, episodic storytelling allows viewers to see the point of view of various characters rather than just one.

Episodic anime are the way to go for anyone with a busy lifestyle, since the episodes aren't necessarily connected to the plot and there's less you need to remember when not watching. There are plenty of episodic anime worth watching, but these are the best of the bunch.

Sanrio's New Ranking of Kings Crossover With Hello Kitty & More Gets Worldwide Release
Image
Sanrio's beloved mascots like Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, My Melody and Kuromi have mass global appeal, but official releases are still often exclusive to Japan. Now, however, its latest crossover offers merchandise that's available for pre-order worldwide, and for one of the most heartfelt anime series to air in recent years.

Ranking of Kings, a coming-of-age fantasy anime based on the manga of the same name, premiered in 2021 and took its season by storm. Written by Taku Kishimoto and animated by Wit Studio, Ranking of Kings made headlines for its enormously sympathetic cast, unexpected fairy tale deconstructions and powerful tear-jerker moments. Its new collaboration with Sanrio may seem equally surprising at first glance, although the specific character matchups also feel oddly appropriate.

Other Anime Franchises the Tmnt Should Crossover With
Image
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are some of the biggest pop culture icons in the media, with the heroes in a halfshell being popular since their 1980s debut. This has seen them cross over with various other comic book and cartoon properties, and they're now jumping into the world of anime and manga. With a crossover with Naruto now in the works, it begs the question of what other manga franchises might work well with the turtles.

In many cases, somehow mixing them together with the most popular manga and anime of today would be an easy sell. Likewise, there are several other classic properties that would be a good mesh for the four terrapin brothers. Some of these anime might not even be tied to ninjas or martial arts, yet they'd still work well when juxtaposed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Deredere Anime Characters Who Aren't Annoying
Image
Derederes are anime character types that are particularly common in romance and comedy anime. They are lovestruck characters, who wear their heart on their sleeves. Deredere characters have no guile; they make their feelings extremely plain, and they can be quite cutesy about their romantic interests.

Deredere characters can get taxing, especially if they fawn over their love interest and put them on a pedestal too much. Their situations can get quite pathetic, fast. Though, there are some well-balanced deredere characters who are plain about their feelings in the sense that they are good communicators, and they are confident enough to own their feelings. A good deredere character won't debase themselves to get romantic attention they're just perfectly sincere.
