Forever, based on the book by Judy Blume, has arrived on Netflix. The series stars Lovie Simone as Keisha Clark, Michael Cooper Jr. as Justin Edwards, Xosha Roquemore as Keisha’s mother Shelly, Karen Pittman as Justin’s mother Dawn and more.

Created and produced by Mara Brock Akil, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner, the story captures so strongly the feelings of first love between Keisha and Justin. Fifty years after the publishing of Blume’s hit young adult novel in 1975, Brock Akil has reimagined the story, which traces how first love creates a ripple effect into their futures after they reconnect after grade school in 2018’s Los Angeles.

The 2025 BET Awards nominations were announced on Thursday, and Kendrick Lamar is "not like" the others.

The "Not Like Us" singer received a leading 10 bids, including Album of the Year for Gnx, Video of the Year, Viewer’s Choice Award, Best Collaboration, Video Director of the Year, and Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

Lamar's fellow Album of the Year nominees are Chris Brown for 11:11 (Deluxe), Doechii for Alligator Bites Never Heal, Beyoncé for Cowboy Carter, GloRilla for Glorious, the Weeknd for Hurry Up Tomorrow, Drake and PartyNextDoor for Some Sexy Songs 4 U, and Future and Metro Boomin for We Don't Trust You.

Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla each received six nominations, followed by Metro Boomin with five, and both Sza and the Weeknd with four.

This year’s BET Awards 2025 nominees reflect multifaceted creative expression and Black excellence across music, television, film, and sports.

Nominations were selected by the BET Voting Academy, which is comprised of an esteemed group of entertainment professionals and influencers in the fields of music, media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, and creative arts.

Voting for the 2025 Viewer’s Choice Award will open soon.

The show will air live on BET from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, June 9 at 8 p.m. Et. This milestone 25th anniversary event will honor “25 years of cultural excellence, spotlighting the most influential names in music, film, television, and sports.”

BET has revealed its nominees for the 25th annual BET Awards, and competition is stiff among rappers. Kendrick Lamar sits in the lead with 10 nominations, though close behind are fellow hip-hop artists Doechii, Future, GloRilla and Lamar’s lyrical nemesis Drake, with six nominations each.

Lamar received a nomination for album of the year for Gnx and video of the year for “Not Like Us,” as well as three viewer’s choice award nods for “Not Like Us,” “Luther,” featuring Sza, and “Like That” with Future & Metro Boomin, and an additional three noms for best collaboration for “Like That,” “30 for 30” and “Luther.” His final two nominations come in the categories of video director of the year with Dave Free and best male hip hop artist.

Three-time winner Kendrick Lamar tops the list of 2025 American Music Awards nominees, scoring 10 nominations. Lamar’s nominations come in the Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Gnx), Song of the Year (“Not Like Us”), Collaboration of the Year (“Luther” with Sza), Favorite Music Video (“Not Like Us”), Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist, Favorite Hip-Hop Album (Gnx), Favorite Hip-Hop Song categories.

Post Malone follows with eight, with Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each picking up seven nominations. Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter, Sza, and Taylor Swift earned six American Music Awards nominations.

Wasserman Music has hired three leading industry executives, Kevin Shivers, James Rubin and Cristina Baxter. Shivers and Rubin will join the company’s Executive Leadership Team, marking its biggest leadership expansion since it launched in 2021.

On Friday (October 25), the 28-year-old Grammy-nominated R&b singer dropped her brand new single titled “Heart Of A Woman”.

Taylor Swift continues to dominate in 2024, adding seven more MTV Video Music Awards wins to her resume. Swift took home seven wins, including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration (with Post Malone), Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Song of the Summer. The 2024 wins bring her VMAs total to 30, breaking Beyonce’s record of 25. Swift also became the first artist to win the Video of the Year award five times.

Eminem also set a record, becoming the male artist with the most solo wins. And Annita tied the record for the most Best Latin wins with three.

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards announced their full list of nominations on Tuesday, August 6, and Taylor Swift leads the way — again — with 10 nominations, including Video of the Year for her visual for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. If she wins that category again, she’ll become the first artist ever to prevail for three years in a row, and she’ll extend her record as the most awarded artist in the history of the category with five total Video of the Year victories. Fans can vote right now for the winners across 15 gender-neutral categories by visiting vote.mtv.com through Friday, August 30. Voting for Best New Artist will be open into the show on Tuesday, September 10. Nominations for social categories will be announced at a later date. The awards will air from New York’s Ubs Arena on September 10 at 8:00pm Eastern and Pacific.

Taylor Swift leads the pack with 10 noms, including Video of the Year, in which she could break her own record as the only artist to ever three-peat and win five times in the category. Following Swift is her “Fortnight” collaborator Post Malone with 9, Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter with 6 each, Megan Thee Stallion and Sza (5 each), and Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims with 4 each.

Carpenter and Swims are among 29 first-time nominees, including Benson Boone and Tyla (3 each), Chappell Roan, Jelly Roll, Jessie Murph, Rauw Alejandro, Sexyy Red and Victoria Monét (2 each) also first timers receiving multiple nods. Filmmaker and master of suspense M. Night Shyamalan is returning to the big screen next month with his concert-set thriller, “Trap,” but the big twist is “Trap” is about more than just whatever twist Shyamalan has cooked up.

The film has been largely hyped for the return of Josh Hartnett as a leading man, especially in a dark role that sees him as a serial killer trying to evade a trap laid out for him at a pop concert. But in a recent interview with Empire, Shyamalan boasts another huge reason to see “Trap” in theaters is that viewers will be getting an actual concert film in addition to his standard mystery fare. In fact, when asked how he pitched the film, Shyamalan said, “What if ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ happened at a Taylor Swift concert?”

When Usher received the Lifetime Achievement Award during Sunday’s BET Awards, a good amount of his speech was muted. But BET has apologized to the singer, adding that an “audio malfunction” led to portions of his 13-minute speech being “inadvertently muted.”

Tyla won the first award of the night, for best international act, and later collected the award for best new artist. Usher, who was honored with a lifetime achievement award during the show, was named best male R&b/pop artist, while Sza (who was not in attendance) won the award for best female R&b/pop artist. Killer Mike won album of the year for Michael. Monét won the BET Her award and video of the year for “On My Mama.” Regina King (who also was not present) was named best actress.

The BET Awards ceremony created some big moments, with performances by Will Smith, who performed his new song “You Can Make It”; the aforementioned tribute to Usher; and a passionate speech by Killer Mike.

Usher was honored with the lifetime achievement award Sunday night at the 2024 BET Awards with an all-star tribute performance, followed by a speech heavy on self-reflection that emphasized forgiveness and fatherhood.

Legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis came onstage to present the tribute, which started with a video showing a montage of Usher’s career, which began in his early teens and included an energetic performance at the Super Bowl earlier this year. The video featured praise from the likes of Kevin Hart, Toni Braxton, L.A. Reid, Jermaine Dupri, Janelle Monáe and Jennifer Hudson.

The Oscar-nominated actress will host the June 30 event, airing live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
