In the Netherlands, she is Nijntje ("little rabbit" as a Dutch toddler might say). English translator Olive Jones gave her the name Miffy.
He created the cartoon character Miffy the rabbit in 1955 to entertain his young son. More than 80 million Miffy books have been sold around the world, in more than 50 languages.
