In the week leading up to the Grand Finals, Washington’s Allen Stone was the predicted front-runner, according to Gold Derby odds. The Grammy-nominated folk singer was the recipient of the national jury vote thrice — first in the qualifiers, then in the semi-finals, lastly in the finale — thanks to his feel-good song “A Bit of Both.” However, he was upset on finale night by Oklahoma’s AleXa, our second place choice. An Edm legend turned the American Song Contest into a Vegas nightclub. Before the glow sticks came out, however, results from the April 4 episode were revealed. Tennessee's Tyler Braden earned the jury's automatic semifinal spot last week, leaving three spots to be filled by the combined jury and fan vote. Former R5 boy band member and Dancing With the Stars runner-up Riker Lynch, representing Colorado, was the first to punch his ticket. He was followed by Alabama's Ni/Co and Texas' Grant Knoche. The results left Grammy-nominated songwriter Jewel on the sidelines, but two redemptions will come at the end of the qualifying rounds. So, all hope is not lost for the "Foolish Games"...

Monday night on “American Song Contest,” Jewel was eliminated after failing to earn enough votes from the viewers and the national jury. The four-time Grammy nominee and recent “The Masked Singer” winner performed her uplifting original song “The Story” last week on NBC’s reality TV show, but it failed to connect with viewers. Heads up: even though she’s saying goodbye for now, Jewel still has a shot of returning to the program as a wildcard. How does it work?
As revealed in earlier weeks, there will be two “redemption” artists invited back to the show during the Semi-Finals round. “Show ’em love by streaming their music,” host Snoop Dogg said last week, implying the two eliminated acts who earn the most downloads will be the ones that return.

During Week 3 of “American Song Contest,” the jury of 56 industry professionals ranked the 12 original songs from first to last, with Tenneesee’s Tyler Braden advancing to the semi-finals thanks to his tune “Seventeen.” The most famous singer on the docket was Alaska’s Jewel, a four-time Grammy nominee and recent “The Masked Singer” winner. However, her uplifting song “The Story” (watch above) failed to connect with the jury, coming in ninth place in their rankings. Don’t give up, Jewel fans — she’s not out of the competition just yet.
The audience at home now gets to weigh in with their votes, which will be tabulated alongside the jury rankings. Vote by visiting the “ASC” website directly, or by using the NBC App or TikTok. If Jewel gets enough support from the 56 states/territories, she will be able to overcome the low jury rankings. Three participants will advance based on...

During the third week of NBC’s “American Song Contest,” the national jury was tasked with ranking 12 original songs (as opposed to 11) from first to last. At the end of the April 4 episode, hosts Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg announced the results: Tennessee country singer Tyler Braden was ranked the highest by the jury of 56 industry professionals, so he moved on to the semi-finals. Tyler’s original song, “Seventeen,” was a soft, reflective melody about a couple looking back on their lives. Watch the performance above.
The fate of the other 11 participants now rests in the hands of You at home. Your voting results will be tabulated alongside the jury rankings — it’s a complicated process — to determine which three acts will join Tyler in the semi-finalists. Here they all are in order of the jury rankings:
1. Tyler Braden (Tenneesee) sang “Seventeen”

Longtime “Dancing with the Stars” fans are well-acquainted with “Disney Night,” and at this point they’re just as well-acquainted with celebrities portraying Jack Sparrow from “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Nev Schulman did just that, as James Van Der Beek did only a year earlier and Riker Lynch did in 2015. So how did Schulman compare? Watch his performance above, and scroll down to see Van Der Beek and Lynch’s routines.
Schulman’s performance at least distinguished itself in a couple of ways. His predecessors both performed the exact same style of dance (paso doble) to the same piece of music (“He’s a Pirate” from “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”). Schulman instead danced an Argentine tango to “Angelica” from “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”

Yes, even as the world begins to open up (baby steps), we still need feel-good entertainment now more than ever.
Filmmaker Linda Palmer wrote, directed, and produced a movie that hits just the right note for 2020 with her inspirational film Turnover.
Turnover is a double entendre speaking to both the flakey, fruit-filled pastry as well as the management term most want to steer clear of in their business.
Paul Guilfoyle Plays Peter, a recently divorced cafe owner who works too much, holds his cards too close to the vest and is just running out of steam.
The joy has run out of his business. But that's hardly the end of his story.
Finally forced to take two weeks to himself, he leaves the cafe in the capable hands of his newly promoted cafe manager, Henry (Riker Lynch).
But being open with Henry wasn't Peter's strong point, and when Peter leaves,...

“Dancing with the Stars” has been doing “Disney Night” for a while now to appease ABC’s corporate overlords. They’ve been doing it for so long that we’ve now seen two dancers pay tribute to the same movie in the same dance style to the very same piece of music. James Van Der Beek closed the show with a “Pirates of the Caribbean” paso doble. Riker Lynch also did a “Pirates” paso on “Disney Night” in season 20 back in the spring of 2015. So whose was better? Watch Van Der Beek’s performance above and Lynch’s performance below. Then vote in our poll.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba thought Van Der Beek’s performance was “insane” and told him, “This was your dance, truly.” Len Goodman thought he was “dramatic” and “strong,” though there were moments when it could have been sharper. Bruno Tonioli called it “grand spectacle,” a “powerful performance,...

Tinashe got the boot on Week 4 of “Dancing with the Stars” despite having the second highest score of the night. But, as of press time, she definitely is not in the top two when it comes to YouTube views. Numbers were down overall this week — compared to last week when six couples had more than 100,000 plays — since it was just trios and not a bunch of reach-for-the-Kleenex sob stories.
Again, some caveats:
1. Needless to say, not everyone who watches a contestant’s dance on YouTube is voting and vice versa.
2. Not every star or dance is created equal. Some people already come in with major notoriety and a fan base, which could boost views. Some pros have a bigger fan base than the stars they’re teaching. Some people accrue fans as the season progresses. Sometimes a performance is just flat-out amazing or a complete hot mess or meme-worthy that...

When “Dancing with the Stars” began its 27th season R&B singer Tinashe was the odds-on favorite to win the Mirror Ball Trophy, and in the first four weeks of the competition she was always either first or second on the judges’ leaderboard. But she was shockingly eliminated on Trios Night, and in her absence our users have turned to Milo Manheim as the new front-runner to win the Mirror Ball Trophy. At age 17 he would be the youngest man ever to do so.
In the past 26 seasons three women have prevailed as teenagers: 16-year-old Laurie Hernandez (season 23) and 17-year-old Shawn Johnson (season 8) and Bindi Irwin (season 21). But there have been no male winners under the age of 20. To date the youngest man to win the Mirror Ball was Jordan Fisher, who prevailed in season 25 when he was 23.

This week on “Dancing with the Stars” each couple performed a trio routine with a “DWTS” alum or a special celebrity guest. A new Mirror Ball front-runner may have emerged, as Disney star Milo Manheim along with her pro partner Witney Carson and trio partner Riker Lynch brought down the house with an electrifying salsa. The routine was just one point shy of a perfect score.
But as one star rose another was shockingly snuffed out: R&B star Tinashe and her partner Brandon Armstrong were unfairly booted despite topping the leaderboard in the first two weeks of the competition. With her out of the running, which of the remaining celebs will rise to the occasion and pose a serious threat to win the season?

Going into week four of “Dancing with the Stars” season 27, there were 10 couples remaining. But it’s been a challenging month in the ballroom for all of the celebs, so this week they got a little extra help. Those special guest dancers were mostly past “DWTS” contestants: Amy Purdy, Riker Lynch, Rashad Jennings, Lindsey Stirling, Melissa Rycroft, Joey Fatone and Nastia Liukin. The other three were a reality TV dance star (Maddie Ziegler), a “Bachelor in Paradise” alum (Jordan Kimball) and “Harry Potter” actress Scarlett Byrne. See the full list of trio partnerships here.

It takes three to tango on “Dancing with the Stars” — and to cha-cha, paso doble, salsa, Argentine tango and Charleston. Week 4 is Trio Week, but with a twist this time. While pros and troupe members have joined couples in the past, the show is bringing in former contestants, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” contestant Maddie Ziegler (as previously announced), and two people who have absolutely nothing to do with the show whatsoever.
Scarlett Byrne, who played Pansy Parkinson in the “Harry Potter” films, will team with her former co-star Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe for their salsa, while “Bachelor in Paradise” star Jordan Kimball will hit the hardwood with Grocery Store Joe and Jenna Johnson for their salsa. Stay thirsty, ABC.
Former champs Melissa Rycroft and Rashad Jennings, and alums Nastia Liukin, Linsdsey Stirling, Riker Lynch, Joey Fatone and Amy Purdy are the past contestants who’ll take another step on the dance floor.

By now, you’ve probably noticed that the major heroes populating the Arrowverse are awarded new costumes every so often. Though Oliver Queen’s suit may have undergone subtle variations throughout the first three seasons of his own series, it wasn’t until the fourth that the Green Arrow received a considerable upgrade. Then, he lengthened the sleeves on that bad boy for the following year and beyond.

But could she actually go even further and claim the Mirrorball trophy? “Dancing” history shows that, more often than not, the final two tends to be a his-and-her battle.
In the show’s previous 25 seasons, 17 final twos have come down to a female and a male celebrity. The longest streak was eight seasons, from Season 5 through 12. Of these 17, the woman prevailed 10 times. While each season is a very specific case, this data isn’t that shocking; female dancers — whether the pro...
