Ncuti Gatwa’s first series of Doctor Who is almost here – and to remind us of this, the BBC have released a full trailer.
If there’s one thing to take away from the trailer for the new series, it is this – Russell T Davies is putting every penny of the higher budget up on the screen.
With the premiere of Ncuti Gatwa’s debut series just weeks away, the marketing campaign is beginning to ramp up. First, we got the welcome news that former showrunner and Doctor Who’s most prolific writer Steven Moffat has penned an episode for the new series, which is described as “Hitchcockian” in tone. His episode was directed by Julie-Anne Robinson.
Now, we have a full trailer running to two minutes and change. It’s the most footage of the new series we’ve had so far, from the Tardis crashing through a wall,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Doctor Who 2023 Holiday Special “The Church on Ruby Road.”] “Once upon a time, late on Christmas Eve, a stranger came to the church on Ruby Road. She carried in her arms the most precious gift of all: a newborn child, a baby girl. Just before midnight, she left her daughter on the steps of the church. The child was taken in, and they named her Ruby after the place where she was found. As for the mother, she was never seen again. No one ever knew her name, until that night, a time traveler came to call, a traveler known as The Doctor.” With that, Doctor Who introduces us to Ruby as a baby, then shows her later as a young adult (Millie Gibson), having been adopted by Clara (Michelle Greenidge) and still knowing nothing about her parents. At one point in the special, The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa, already fantastic...

Jonathan Groff is the latest cast member announced to be joining Doctor Who series 14 in an as-yet undisclosed mysterious “key role”, the BBC has announced.
Groff is best known to children the world over as the voice of Kristoff in Disney’s Frozen films, and to Broadway audiences as King George III from the original cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s mega-hit musical Hamilton.
That makes him the third big American Broadway star making his debut in the new Doctor Who episodes, following Neil Patrick Harris’ villainous role in the forthcoming 60th anniversary specials, and the recent announcement that Chicago the stage musical and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jinkx Monsoon had joined the cast of series fourteen.
Could that much-discussed all-singing, all-dancing episode finally be on the way? The official press release accompanying the casting announcement doesn’t exactly quash the rumours with its choice of headline: “Doctor Who Hits Another...

How do you say goodbye to one of the best shows on the air?
Fans of Netflix's After Life will be forced to say goodbye on January 14 when the final season launches.
The streamer has unveiled our biggest look yet at the final episodes, and it looks like Tony (Ricky Gervais) has a new outlook on life.
After spending the time following his wife's death thinking that not caring was a superpower, the trailer teases him making good decisions.
We get to see Tony on a very different mission, finding very specific places to scatter his late father's ashes.
One of those places is a bar, and well, that goes about as well as you can expect when he's caught.
Set in the small fictitious town of Tambury, the show follows Tony, a writer for the local newspaper whose life is upended after his wife dies from cancer.

My Happy Ending is an Israeli/UK co-production bringing together producers Talia Kleinhendler & Osnat Handelsman-Keren/Pie Films, and Hannah Leader/Bbm (Gosford Park) and Daisy Allsop/Archface Films (Tell It To The Bees starring Anna Paquin).
“Watching her iconic performances over the years, Andie MacDowell’s ability to combine deep emotion and vulnerability with comedy made her the perfect choice for this role. We couldn’t be more excited to work with her and this wonderful ensemble of actors”, say producers Kleinhendler and Handelsman-Keren.
The movie just wrapped production in Wales. The film is financed by Media Finance Capital and United King Films, and received one of the first grants from the new UK Global Screen Fund, financed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (Dcms) and administered by the BFI.
Moshe Edery, Tmira Yardeni, Arik Kneller and Bonnie Timmermann are executive producing along with Mfc’s Charles Dorfman and Marlon Vogelgesang. WME Independent are selling domestic rights.
MacDowell is repped by The Gersh Agency and Rms Productions.
The Golden Globe nominated Four Weddings and a Funeral actress will play a Hollywood star who finds herself in a British hospital room with three other women who help her with the most difficult role she has ever played…herself.
