- Benjamin Rubin was born in Massachusetts and grew up in Rhode Island. He obtained his BA with honors in 2009 from the University of California, Santa Cruz where he graduated with a double major in Film & Digital Media and Politics and was the executive producer for the student-run film production company Moxie Productions. After graduating from college, he enrolled in the Creative Producing program at Columbia University's MFA Film Program, graduating in May 2013.
Ben has produced over a dozen short films that have premiered at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Palm Springs, Telluride, AFI Fest and more, and he was awarded the 2012 HBO Films Young Producer's Award, a $10,000 award to produce an ambitious short film. Additionally he has worked on a number of independent feature films in roles ranging from director's assistant to co-producer.
In the world of electoral politics, he worked in Communications on Congressman Dennis Kucinich's 2008 Presidential Campaign in the Democratic primary, and he served as the Deputy Director of Communications in 2013 on Anthony Weiner's NYC mayoral campaign.
Since 2012 he has worked for screenwriter Danny Strong ("Recount," "Game Change," "The Butler," "The Lost Symbol," "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay") as a Researcher and Development Assistant.
