Justin Janowitz’s spellbinding feature debut, Do Not Watch, follows the tradition of cursed footage like 2018’s Antrum or 2022’s Incantation. Subliminal messages are baked into Ryan Toyama’s screenplay and imprinted onto the screen. Traditional barriers between screens and their audiences are shattered; characters plead with us to do what the title commends. Do Not Watch isn’t without shortcomings, but tantalizes as an innovative reinvention of found footage capabilities.
Toyama’s screenplay bounces between multiple timelines infected by the same film canister. An introductory info dump reads: “What you are about to witness is a compilation of the events surrounding the disappearance of a post-production crew as they worked on research footage from the 1980s.” Clips cycle around the mentioned post-production crew who works at Illusion Post, the supposed cursed footage of researchers in a bunker from the ‘80s, and the documentarians trying to unearth the truth about...

In the wake of Terrifier‘s breakout success, star Jenna Kanell has gone on to book supporting roles in the likes of Renfield, WandaVision, The Bye Bye Man, and NCIS: New Orleans — but Art the Clown casts a long shadow. Kanell reconciles her unconventional journey while holding a mirror up to the industry in Faceless After Dark, which she co-wrote with Todd Jacobs for director Raymond Wood, both frequent collaborators.
Kanell stars as Bowie Davidson, an actress struggling to break out from the shackles of B-horror after starring in a killer clown movie. She’s no stranger to fandom — peddling herself at conventions, recording Cameo videos, combating social media harassment — but when an obsessive fanatic in a clown mask breaks into her house, Bowie assumes the role of the final girl to fight back against her oppressors.
The home invasion is ostensibly propelling toward a tense game of cat-and-mouse between Bowie and her stalker,...

Exclusive: Catherine Corcoran, Justin Miles, Doug Jones, Dee Wallace and Krsy Fox are starring in If it Bleeds, an indie horror pic from first-time director Matthew Hersh.
The film has been quietly filming and is nearing completion, billed as an “anthology-style crime thriller” from Hersh, whose Night of the Missing with director Samuel Gonzalez Jr is currently topping the Cineverse streaming platform Screambox after launch in December.
In If if Bleeds, genre actor Corcoran as young and ambitious news reporter Diane Winters and her cameraman Simon, played by Miles, as they uncover a mysterious series of gruesome murders that unfold throughout the course of a chaotic and violent day. Horror icons Jones and Wallace will also star, the former as a plastic surgeon, as will actor and musician Fox. Wallace and Fox are consulting producers.
Allison Victoria-Wolfe and Doug Hawley are among the producers, with Gonzalez Jr. directing an additional segment.
”To have so many genre greats believe in me and trust me with the story I wanted to tell with this film at such an early stage of my career was truly surreal,” said Hersh. “I figured what better way to dive into the horror genre than through the eyes of a news reporter in the field seeing and facing the horrors of humanity unfold in front of her very own eyes.”
“Ever a champion of independent filmmakers, I was thrilled when Matthew invited me to come along on this next phase of his creative journey,” added Corcoran Diane’s story is universal in that we all have the need to be seen and valued, and I can’t wait for the world to see how our incredible cast and crew bring that theme to life.”

"Terrifier" is the little slasher series that could. Writer-director Damien Leone harnessed decades of horror movie history to imbue his low-budget breakout with not just heaps of blood and uber-violence, but a subversive sense of whimsy as well. As a result, "Terrifier" remains one of this century's most successful indie horror titles. Its sequel, "Terrifier 2," carved out a success story all its own. In October 2022, that second installment pulled more than $10 million at the domestic box office. For reference, "Terrifier 2" is a two-and-a-half hour long gorefest. That's no chump change for what's arguably the bloodiest slasher movie of the decade.
It all goes back to the original, however, and without "Terrifier," there would be no franchise (including the upcoming Christmas-themed "Terrifier 3"). Damien Leone first conceived of Art the Clown for the 2008 short "The 9th Circle." Art would later appear in one additional short and two anthology segments...

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Silver Scream Con returned to the Doubletree Boston North Shore in Danvers, Massachusetts on September 8-10 — ’cause let’s face it, baby, these days you gotta have a sequel!
Created by horror-inspired metalcore band Ice Nine Kills, Silver Scream Con has quickly established itself as a top-tier horror convention among celebrity guests and attendees alike. “Everybody’s been really nice, and I’m enjoying myself immensely,” said Tommy Lee Wallace, who created Michael Myers’ iconic mask for the original Halloween before going on to direct Halloween III: Season of the Witch. “I hope everyone gets the shit scared out of them!”
Not even severe thunderstorm alerts could stop the rabid fans, who traveled not just from all over North America but as far as Finland, Scotland, and England to attend. Ticket sales reportedly doubled from the previous year’s already-commendable showing,...

For an indie horror movie that went out into the world unrated, Terrifier 2 was a massive hit last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000. And that success has not only paved the way for Terrifier 3, which will have a substantially higher budget and is aiming for a fall 2024 release, but it has also earned a theatrical re-release for its predecessor, the first Terrifier. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting have announced that Terrifier will be playing on around 700 screens as of this Wednesday, July 19th. This is the widest theatrical release Terrifier has ever received and it will be playing for a few days. To see if it will be playing near you, check This Link.

Dread and Iconic Events Releasing Strike Deal for Theatrical Re-Release of Terrifier: "Dread, the L.A.-based distribution and financing company Epic Pictures’ specialty horror label, announced today plans to re-release Terrifier, Damien Leone’s 2016 slasher horror — that would lead to the smash box-office hit Terrifier 2 — nationwide in theaters with Iconic Events, who handled the explosively successful rollout of the sequel last year. Terrifier will return to the big screen on July 19, 2023 and play in over 700 theater locations across the U.S.
Following a string of earlier films that first introduced Leone’s now-iconic villain Art the Clown to audiences, Terrifier saw the role first taken by David Howard Thornton, who took up the mantle once again in the film’s breakout sequel, cementing the character’s place in horror canon legacy.

Art the Clown is slashing his way back to theaters, with the first Terrifier movie set to hit 700 screens on July 19, the widest release the horror feature has ever received.
Released in 2018, Terrifier was written and directed by Damien Leone and starred David Howard Thornton as the twisted killer Art the Clown opposite Jenna Kanell, Samantha Scaffidi and Catherine Corcoran.
While it was something of a cult hit, it was more noteworthy for set the stage for Terrifier 2, which was one of the biggest horror success stories of 2022. The sequel was produced for just $250,000, and went on to gross an astounding $10 million after opening in 770 theaters Oct. 6, helping a resurgence in horror at the box office.
Dread, the speciality horror label for Los Angeles-based distribution and financing company Epic Pictures, will put the first Terrifier into theaters along with Iconic Events, which worked on the rollout for Terrifier 2.

One of the most famous moments in writer/director Damien Leone’s slasher Terrifier (read our review Here) involves Art the Clown (played by David Howard Thornton) sawing Catherine Corcoran’s character Dawn in half while she’s naked and hanging upside down. Apparently that left some members of the fan base expecting to see more female nudity in this year’s Terrifier 2 (our review is Here)… and when the sequel didn’t deliver the nudity they were looking for, they took to Twitter to complain about it. Corcoran saw the tweets, and has gathered her thoughts on the subject in a very interesting write-up that has been released through The Daily Beast.
In the article, Corcoran looks back at the history of nudity in film, eventually putting the focus on nudity in slasher films and her own experiences doing nude scenes in both Terrifier and Troma’s Return to Nuke ’Em High.

Long Lost is a low budget thriller mystery that includes the immortal line “you have asparagus in your teeth”. Our young slacker of a protagonist, Seth gets invited to a mansion by cryptic letter (as we often do). From this point we are introduced to a slightly creepy rich chap who “values his privacy” and thinks that “the internet is a creepy place”. It sure is.
The film also has the line “I handle my own wood”. Who doesn’t.
The creepy chap turns out to be rude and we are told is Richard, Seth’s half brother, and Richard instigates a game called “chubby bunny” (which was actually quite enjoyable and involves marshmallows if you are not aware of it)

This a dark contemporary psychological thriller. A real walk down a strange path of family, wealth, sex and life-threatening danger.
Long Lost stars Adam Weppler as Seth, a 23 year old young man invited to spend a long weekend at a Connecticut mansion with his long lost millionaire half-brother Richard (Nicholas Tucci) who, along with his enigmatic, sex starved live-in girlfriend Abby (Catherine Corcoran), leads Seth down a psychological rabbit hole wherein luxury and temptation are intermingled with treachery and taboo.
When Seth receives a mysterious letter inviting him to spend the weekend at a secluded mansion in the country, he soon realizes the people inside the house may know him better than he knows himself.
His half brother is hostile, supercilious and almost threatening and seems to hold secrets about Seth’s origin. "You gotta give me a chance to make it right." Mainframe Pictures has debuted an official trailer for a new indie thriller titled Long Lost, another one of these secluded mansion getaway turns into a violent, scary survival films. Long Lost is the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Erik Bloomquist, and is about a guy who gets a letter to meet a person at his house for the weekend. Things start to get strange, and it turns out he knows more about him than it seems. Starring Adam Weppler, Catherine Corcoran, and Nicholas Tucci. This reminds me of plenty other films like this, namely The Invitation and The Gift most recently. Of course they try to throw in some unique twists and turns, but I'm not sure how it will turn out. Check it out. Here's the first official trailer (+ new poster) for Erik Bloomquist's Long Lost, direct from YouTube...

Clowns always send alarm bells through us because there is something unnatural about them. The fake smile created by a mask that hides the true feelings underneath, it is disconcerting. Sure, they can be happy and make you laugh, but would they do the same in the middle of the night while trying to rip your head off? Terrifier poses this question in an old school gory bluntness that bashes you in just the right spots.

Terrifer is an upcoming film from director Damien Leone. In the film, a killer clown attacks three young women, on Halloween night. The violence and terror only fuels this clown's desire for more blood. As well, Terrifier is being released by both Epic Pictures Releasing and Dread Central Presents. The film stars: Jenna Kanell (The Bye Bye Man), Catherine Corcoran (Return to Nuke 'Em High Vol. 1 & 2), Margaret Reed, and David Howard Thornton. This slasher feature begins a theatrical run in mid-March, followed by a U.S. nationwide release on Digital platforms. A preview of the film's upcoming release is hosted here. The Red Band trailer for Terrifier shows many of the film's more gruesome images. The clown's victims are confident at first, in that they can handle a scary clown. But, when the weapons are out, the girls flee into a warehouse - for dissection! Terrifier brings its central character from 2013's All Hallows' Eve.

Lloyd Kaufman is among one of the most prolific pioneers of indie films, co-founding Troma Entertainment with Michael Herz in 1974. Giving audiences a variety of low-budget teenage sex comedies and arthouse horror films over the past decades, his latest movie, “Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High aka Volume 2,” is a continuation of his 2013 explosive feature “Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1.”
Troma Entertainment has released the new Nsfw uncensored trailer for the upcoming “splatstick” horror comedy, check it out below.
The film tells the story of Lauren and Chrissy, two lesbian lovers who must face and defeat the most corrupt and evil forces ever to descend upon Tromaville…and the world! Per the film’s description, “When a perverse conspiracy is launched by the demented CEO of a multi-national ‘organic food’ company, our heroines become embroiled in a death defying fight to restore their own humanity, while at the...

While it may have been a few years since we last saw beloved independent horror pioneer Lloyd Kaufman get behind a camera in a directorial capacity, Tromaville’s founding father hasn’t missed a step with his latest. Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1 is an absurdly entertaining slapstick gore-fest that also manages to effectively pass along a timely message or two along the way.
Almost 20 years since we last checked in with the kids of Tromaville High, Return to Nuke ‘Em High finds the latest class of students dealing with the dangers of “going green” when the Tromorganic Foodstuffs company moves into town, pushing their new “green” food on the unsuspecting high schoolers to gauge how the youth of America will react to their products. Of course, there’s more than meets the eye to Tromorganic (headed up by Kaufman himself) and soon enough, Tromaville High has “Gleetins” running amok,...

Troma's Return to Nuke 'Em High: Vol. 1 is enjoying tremendous success, and the legendary Mr. Troma himself, Lloyd Kaufman, sat down with Dread Central along with stars Asta Paredes, Katie Corcoran and Clay von Carlowitz to discuss the making of the film.
It must be noted that interviewing Mr. Kaufman and the cast members of Return to Nuke 'Em High: Vol. 1 all together on Skype is almost like participating in a sitcom as you watch it unfold in front of you.
Beginning with a virtual tour of the Troma offices (complete with video proof that Michael Herz does exist, or was that Joe Fleishaker?) that consisted of Kaufman carrying his laptop around and pointing it at whatever he wanted to show, it was clear early on that this was not going to be a typical interview. The original Class of Nuke 'Em High mixed fears of nuclear power into a pungent broth of New Wave teenage rebellion and gross-out FX.
The latest sequel stirs in anxiety over Gmo foods, as the old power plant has been replaced with a shady food distributor called TromOrganic. Man, Tromaville High School just can’t catch any breaks it seems. Cretins, subhumanoids, monsters – the classes of “Nuke ‘Em High” have seen their share of death and destruction, but it’s been about twenty years since we last heard from them. Seems like the perfect time for writer/director Lloyd Kaufman to go all radioactive again to torture a fresh class of Tromaville’s best and brightest if you ask me – and Troma! Yes, we all know the antics that come along with a Troma feature, and Return To Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1 may be one of the most Troma-y movies Troma has ever made. The Class Of Nuke ‘Em High was built on a sturdy foundation of social satire, raw sexuality, goo-oozing gore, and slapstick, spoof-ish comedy, and Lloyd Kaufman’s latest return doesn’t abandon a single ideal. Nudity, hyper-aggressive violence, evil glee clubs, duck rape, radioactive tacos,...

While I knew Lloyd would be in attendance accepting an award (and we’ve got a pretty special treat from Mr. Kaufman coming at a later date), I didn’t know the entire cast would be there, including lead actresses Asta Paredes and Catherine Corcoran. A new trailer has been spotted online for the 'Return to the Class of Nuke 'Em High' and it features everything we've come to expect from such a project.
