Any actor would certainly dream of sharing intimate moments on screen with the beautiful Emilia Clarke except for her Game of Thrones costar Kit Harington. The latter admitted he was not delighted at all when the dreaded love scene was filmed because the room was full of awkwardness.
It’s understandable, though, because they have been best friends for more than half a decade, and the fact that Clarke was also pals with the actor’s wife, Rose Leslie, makes it even more uncomfortable. It’s still good to know that those love scenes did not put pressure on their friendships.

When one thinks of Vin Diesel, one thinks "fast and furious." Not the films but the pacing and tone of his movies, which are fast-paced and full of fury. The actor has a long history of acting, though since taking on the role of Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise, more of his roles have been action-based.
Despite The Fast and Furious not being the critics' most beloved franchise, Vin Diesel knows how to own an action role—he’s proven capable of presenting a strong physical presence for over two decades. Two of his previous films, which showcase his prowess as a leading action star, will be coming to Tubi at the beginning of next month: The Last Witch Hunter (2015) and xXx (2002).

The letters represent more than paper—they are potential harbingers of scandal that could alter Jane’s carefully constructed public image. The mystery behind Cassandra’s choice to burn these documents carries deep emotional weight, exploring the intricate dynamics of familial bonds and their hidden tensions.
The narrative moves beyond linear storytelling, weaving through time with intricate flashbacks. Scenes of Jane and Cassandra’s youth emerge, displaying their profound connection through moments of shared emotion and fleeting struggles. ITV has officially announced its drama about the U.K.’s phone-hacking scandal and investigation, a seven-part series now entitled “The Hack” and written by multi award-winner Jack Thorne.
The unveiling of the first look from “The Hack” — which shot last year — comes just a week after the hacking controversy concerning Rupert Murdoch’s U.K. tabloids reached a new peak, with his News Group Newspapers making a historic apology to Prince Harry and agreeing to pay substantial damages.
David Tennant — who himself accepted damages from Ngn over a phone-hacking claim against the now-defunct News of the World — plays Nick Davies, the investigative journalist who uncovered evidence of hacking. Toby Jones plays his former editor-in-chief at The Guardian newspaper, Alan Rusbridger, while — in a story running parallel to the hacking expose — Robert Carlyle plays former Met Police detective chief superintendent Dave Cook, who led an investigation into the unsolved murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan.

This article contains spoilers for many major fantasy TV shows! For every unforgettable moment in a fantasy TV show, there are just as many controversial moments that push viewers to their breaking point. Even the most popular fantastical TV series in history have included scenes that were so polarizing that audiences stop watching the show altogether. Typically, these plot points revolve around the introduction or exit of characters, as this can dramatically alter the series' dynamic and be devastating to witness. TV deaths often spark outrage when viewers feel that the character didn't deserve to be killed off and still had more to contribute.
There are many fantasy TV scenes that make no sense, but this is more excusable, as the complex magic systems and world-building in speculative fiction shows can become confusing. However, when a series makes a concrete and avoidable choice that alienates audience members, it's much more difficult to accept this.

Fantasy is a versatile genre since the creation of new worlds and magic systems allows writers and creators to establish new rules and logic that suit the storyline. However, this doesn't mean that fantasy TV shows are immune from adding plot points that make no sense and don't help further the overall narrative. Many of these choices have to do with the character's choices being inconsistent or the series breaking its own rules about how the fantastical elements work. Since speculative fiction fans are willing to suspend their disbelief, these shows sometimes push the boundaries of logic too far.
There are plenty of fantasy movie scenes that make no sense, and TV series are just as susceptible to these mistakes. Often, these confusing moments happen because there are so many contradicting storylines or there's an external element that's out of the writers' control. In the last few years, Anya Taylor-Joy has emerged as one of the most enchanting young actresses of her generation, with her performances in horror and thrillers making her a genre icon ever since she broke out with the 2015 movie, The Witch. And yet, one of her most intriguing, and often overlooked, roles never got the spotlight it deserved. Fortunately for fans who have never heard or forgotten about it, Taylor-Joy’s 2016 AI thriller, Morgan, will be available to stream on Max starting January 1.
Morgan is a suspenseful thriller that explores the ethical dilemmas that come with exposing oneself to artificial intelligence. It follows Lee Weathers, a corporate risk management consultant with a brand-new task at hand – to investigate a scientific facility’s latest project, a genetically engineered being named Morgan. Created using nanotechnology-infused synthetic DNA, Morgan is only five years old, but her childlike appearance does not match the extraordinary skills like walking,...

It’s always exciting when a TV show takes a massive risk that really pays off, but it can be insanely frustrating when these surprising writing decisions fall flat on their face. While huge twists, impulsive character decisions, or unusual storytelling choices can keep things interesting, they also have the potential to alienate audiences and lead to storylines that the writers opt to quietly discard rather than continue telling an unpopular plot. This has been a problem across comedy, drama, and even fantasy series that have tried something new with their storyline, only to have viewers flat-out reject the risk.
Many of the best TV shows of all time have taken massive risks, only for them to not work out and have to backtrack on their storylines. This has seen previously deceased characters inexplicably return to life, established backstories being badly rewritten, or even final seasons that ruined the legacy...

Anya Taylor-Joy had a big 2024 working with acclaimed directors, between her surprise cameo in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, and her starring role in George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The actor indeed snagged the role of Imperator Furiosa in Miller’s newest action epic thanks to the recommendation of another big-name director, Edgar Wright, who cast her in his dreamy 2021 horror film Last Night in Soho.
Oscar-nominated director David O’Russell also dialed Taylor-Joy’s number, casting her in his 2022 all-star period film Amsterdam, as did M. Night Shyamalan, who put the actor in his Unbreakable sequels Split and Glass. But the first major filmmaker to recognize Taylor-Joy’s talents was Robert Eggers, whose 2015 psychological-horror movie The Witch proved to be the actor’s breakthrough. Taylor-Joy returned to the wild world of Eggers for 2022’s brutal revenge film The Northman.

The best Theo James movies and TV shows feature a mix of everything from coming-of-age dramas to sci-fi dystopian thrillers. While he turned 40 in 2024, Theo James is still looked at as a Hollywood newcomer. That is likely because he didn’t earn his first major mainstream acceptance until he starred in The Divergent Series around his 30th birthday. Those movies made him a star, and he has since begun developing a strong mix of roles.
The Divergent Series wasn’t Theo James’ first main Hollywood part though, as he also took on the major supporting role of David in Underworld: Awakening and even followed that up with the next movie in the series four years later. However, since Divergent, he has found his place as both a voice actor in shows like Castlevania and X-Men ’97 and more dramatic live-action roles in The Gentlemen and The White Lotus.

Warning: Mild spoilers for all 3 Hercule Poirot movies
Kenneth Branagh has directed and starred in three Hercule Poirot movies, but they’re not all equal to one another. A Haunting in Venice is the most recent murder mystery starring everyone’s favorite Belgian detective. Like the first two movies, A Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, A Haunting in Venice was adapted from an Agatha Christie story. Each film in the franchise includes an all-star ensemble cast, a murder mystery waiting to be solved, and Poirot at the center of it all, but which film reigns supreme?
Each of Branagh’s Hercule Poirot movies has something to like. Whether that’s the cast, the unfolding mystery, the untold secrets lurking behind the lies the characters tell, or Poirot’s memorable mustache (which gets its own backstory), the franchise isn’t short on entertainment. 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express...

Per Deadline, Harden will join Sophie Turner and Kit Harington in a new horror film titled The Dreadful. Sometimes, a television series delivers a shocking moment by killing off what may seem like a main character. While some of these may be done for shock value, sometimes, the show also needs to do it to push things forward. A major character's death has a significant impact on the plot. Ned Stark's death in the first season of Game of Thrones is a great example.
Not only does it start a war between the North and the South, but it also sets Game of Thrones in motion. Similarly, Lost too has a significant death early in the show that holds significance. However, like Ned Stark in Game of Thrones, television shows often choose a great or beloved character to maximize the impact of their death.

The rumors are true: a Game of Thrones movie is now in the planning stages at HBO. Original author George R.R. Martin's criticism about the spinoff series, House of the Dragon, has also been addressed.
Recently, it was reported that a Game of Thrones film was in early development. Per Variety, this report has been confirmed by HBO and Max chief Casey Bloys during a press event on Tuesday. While it was stressed that the project is still in its infancy and not yet officially greenlit, Bloys teased that Martin is directly involved with the creative process. As long as there's a screenplay that everyone is happy with, then production on the movie will be able to move forward.

Major television deaths are almost always sad, but they're especially devastating when viewers barely get to spend time with the character in question. While the death of a longtime favorite dramatically impacts the show and its audience, the demise of smaller players can hit just as hard.
This is especially true when they've made a good impression, igniting hopes that they'll take on a more prominent role in the story. In some cases, they're met with an early end instead, leaving viewers to wonder what their character arc could have looked like if they'd lasted longer than a handful of episodes.

When Kit Harington Revealed His All-Time Favorite Scene as Jon Snow—Here’s the Surprising Reason That Made It So Memorable! (Photo Credit – Facebook)
As Game of Thrones ramped up for its significant return, Kit Harington—our favorite brooding hero, Jon Snow—shared some surprising insights in a chat with Entertainment Weekly. While fans were all about the epic battles and intense moments, Harington revealed that his favorite scenes were the quiet ones, proving that small moments leave a lasting impact even in a realm filled with dragons and ice zombies.
When Game of Thrones premiered on April 14, Jon Snow and his fierce queen, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), arrived at Winterfell, gearing up for the epic showdown with the Army of the Dead. But it wasn’t all glitz and glam behind the scenes; the cast tackled a grueling 10-month filming schedule, facing some of the most challenging conditions the show had ever seen.

The fantasy genre shines on television, as the episodic nature of TV shows allows for plenty of time to focus on world-building and magic systems while still providing character development. However, all the moving parts and expectations surrounding fantasy TV series make it difficult for a show to hit the mark in every aspect of the story. Common issues arise with fantasy TV shows that continue for too long, running out of ideas and growing repetitive before the finale. In a perfect show, there can't be any major problems or too many moments that make viewers quit the series.
Many of the best fantasy TV shows of the 2020s are almost perfect and could prove themselves to be the best of the 21st century before their stories end. More often than not, great fantasy shows are based on books, giving the seasons structure and providing a strong storyline for the script.

While it might come as a shock, sometimes, actors root for their own characters to be written off of a show. The reasons can be as simple as that they are bored or that they find the experience too demanding. Sometimes, they receive a better offer and have to give up their current post. However, not everyone who wants their character dead has their wish to come true.
Sophie Turner famously didn't want her Game of Thrones character to survive the show, but fans would later learn that Sansa becomes one of the few survivors who thrive in the game for power. Similarly, many actors have very specific ideas for their characters to be killed off. Sometimes, the show honors their idea. Other times, they get a different, shocking death.

Being an actor certainly isn't an easy career path to take. There are many pitfalls and lots of financial difficulties, and in the end, plenty of people just give up altogether. There are countless talented actors out there who the world will never know about, simply because they had bad luck.

Fantasy TV shows can change quickly, and when big plot twists and narrative changes are written into the story, they have a major impact. The magic systems and rules of the realities that these fantastical worlds exist in allow the writers and creators to experiment with story and character dynamics, leading to episodes that change everything for the series. These episodes typically incorporate a tone shift and switch the show's focus to a new set of character dynamics. Altering a series so drastically can either save and prolong its run or be the beginning of the end for the show.

The Sybil Downton Abbey death in season 3 was shocking because it was the first on the show. The youngest daughter of Robert Crawley, the Earl of Grantham, and Lady Cora, Sybil's death was one of Downton Abbey's most shocking twists. However, despite what some people theorized at the time, Lady Sybil's exit from the show was planned from the start. Among the Crawley family and the servants of Downton Abbey, Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) was, at the time, the most beloved person in the house.
While Sybil was born a great lady who had wealth and status, she was kind and became interested in progressive politics, and the possibility of improving the lives of others. One of the prime examples of this comes from season 1, where Sybil helps one of the family's maids leave the house to secure a job as a secretary. Considering how famously tumultuous the world of Westeros is, one ought to be surprised at how close the ensemble cast of Game of Thrones actually is in real life. Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams remain good friends to this day, as do Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey (Tyrion and Cersei Lannister). In one of the sweetest examples of life imitating art, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, who breathed life into the doomed romance between Jon Snow and Yggrite, are happily married.

Filming a TV show is an intense business, and sometimes that intensity causes actors to form strong bonds with each other all the more so if they happen to be playing love interests. It doesn't take much for onscreen romance to tip over into real life.
Sometimes, an onscreen couple will date for a while, and then break up after their show has been off the air for a while. However, sometimes, things go further than that; plenty of people who've played love interests onscreen actually ended up married. While unfortunately not all of them got happy endings, their stories are a testament to how blurry the line can get between onscreen love and real love.
