Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast and action movie superstar Vin Diesel combined his two favorite things for this panned fantasy action movie, and it’s coming to free streaming. ITV has officially announced its drama about the U.K.’s phone-hacking scandal and investigation, a seven-part series now entitled “The Hack” and written by multi award-winner Jack Thorne.

The unveiling of the first look from “The Hack” — which shot last year — comes just a week after the hacking controversy concerning Rupert Murdoch’s U.K. tabloids reached a new peak, with his News Group Newspapers making a historic apology to Prince Harry and agreeing to pay substantial damages.

David Tennant — who himself accepted damages from Ngn over a phone-hacking claim against the now-defunct News of the World — plays Nick Davies, the investigative journalist who uncovered evidence of hacking. Toby Jones plays his former editor-in-chief at The Guardian newspaper, Alan Rusbridger, while — in a story running parallel to the hacking expose — Robert Carlyle plays former Met Police detective chief superintendent Dave Cook, who led an investigation into the unsolved murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan.

ITV and Australian streamer Stan have spent the past year quietly filming, editing and laying the groundwork for The Hack, which comes from the storied creative trio of multi-bafta Award winner Thorne, director Lewis Arnold (Sherwood) and producer Patrick Spence (Mr Bates vs the Post Office).

The BBC released a trailer for upcoming drama series Miss Austen, with Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard, Line of Duty, It’s A Sin) starring as Jane Austen’s sister Cassandra, on Tuesday and unveiled a Sunday, Feb. 2 launch date.

In the U.S., the series will air on Masterpiece on PBS from Sunday, May 4.

All four episodes will become available on its BBC iPlayer streaming service from 6 a.m. London time that day, and the series will begin airing weekly episodes on BBC One that evening. Adapted from Gill Hornby’s best-selling novel of the same name, the drama is produced by Bonnie Productions for Masterpiece, in association with the BBC.

Gamers got their first look at the Kingsroad on December 12, 2024 at the Game Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden is set to join a new gothic horror movie that will reunite two of Game of Thrones' biggest stars.

Per Deadline, Harden will join Sophie Turner and Kit Harington in a new horror film titled The Dreadful. The film also stars Laurence OFuarain (The Gentlemen) and Jonathan Howard (Thor: The Dark World). The film will reportedly be set during the War of the Roses, a period in which several civil wars were waged for control of the English throne. The Dreadful follows "Anne (Turner) and her sinister mother-in-law Morwen (Harden), who live a solitary, harsh life on the outskirts of society. But when a man (Harington) from their past returns, he sets off a sequence of horrifying events that become a turning point for Anne."

The rumors are true: a Game of Thrones movie is now in the planning stages at HBO. Original author George R.R. Martin's criticism about the spinoff series, House of the Dragon, has also been addressed.

Recently, it was reported that a Game of Thrones film was in early development. Per Variety, this report has been confirmed by HBO and Max chief Casey Bloys during a press event on Tuesday. While it was stressed that the project is still in its infancy and not yet officially greenlit, Bloys teased that Martin is directly involved with the creative process. As long as there's a screenplay that everyone is happy with, then production on the movie will be able to move forward.
