Not taking into account the expression-less “actors” who have infested Hindi films from time immemorial, zombies are a relatively new phenomenon in Hindi cinema. We did have a zombie film some weeks ago which, like most characters in films of that genre, died a swift death. Forget that.
Go Goa Gone is a savagely funny take on the mythic cult of zombies. Since we are new to the genre there are sly footnotes about them. Characters in the course of their casual and quite corny conversations tell us plenty about Zombie folklore. That zombies enjoy eating human flesh, that they cannot run fast and most of all , zombies are actually dead people.
Working backwards on the premise of heroes shooting the dead, the co-directors have fashioned a fiercely funny fable filled with loads of innocuous innuendos and rumbustious scare attacks that never quite reach the stage of stomach-churning gore-o-logy(to invent a term,...

The movie opens with a crazy hilarious song from Chiranjeevi’s Kondaveeti Donga (a Telugu version of Michael Jackson’s famous zombie video song ‘Thriller’) and that pretty much sets the mood of the entire movie. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. give us our first zombie flick which we can be truly proud of in Go Goa Gone.
Like a true zom-com, Go Goa Gone doesn’t have a very particularly complex storyline. Hardik (Kunal Khemu) and Luv (Vir Das) two perpetual stoners hit rock bottom when one loses his job and the other his girlfriend. Looking for a break they both feel they deserve, Hardik and Luv join their third friend, the simpleton Bunny (Anand Tiwari of Jaago Re ad fame) to his business trip to Goa. Of course, their plan is simple. To get wasted on booze, drugs and girls. When they get invited to an exclusive rave...

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dk have been trailblazers for quite a while on the film scene. Widening the scope of the crossover market with their debut Flavours, to their sleeper hit with Shor in the City, the duo are now taking up the zombie film and their most genre-oriented film to date with Go Goa Gone. Following three slackers on their journey for the best party in Goa, and throwing zombies and the gun-toting Boris into the mix, Go Goa Gone looks to be a hilarious ride. The film is produced by Saif Ali Khan’s Illuminati Films and stars Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari, Puja Gupta, and Khan as the wacky Russian, Boris. We caught up with Raj, who took the time out from editing, and promotions to chat about his and Dk’s creative process, the zombie genre, and the music.

A comedy. A horror-thriller. An action-adventure. Go Goa Gone is all of these rolled into one! A unique combination of fear and funny makes this film a one-of-a-kind genre bender – A Zombie Comedy, or Zomcom! This might sound like a paradox, but Illuminati Films and Eros International have decided to push the envelope for Indian cinema with their next film – Go Goa Gone. The zombie comedy, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dk, is all set to release on May 10th, 2013. The film stars actors Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwary and Puja Gupta.
