Richard Harrison(XXII)
- Producer
- Director
- Writer
(July 2023) Currently in pre-production on 'Handful of Thieves'. Casting out of Madrid via Cristina Perales (Guillermo del Toro/Almodövar), close to closing on two major Spanish actors.
Veteran television documentary Director and Producer and now, Writer/Director and Producer of award-winning, cult feature film, The Honey Killer which since its release on Amazon Prime in 2018, has become one of the most pirated, and watched films in the world, going 'viral' in 'nine' different languages. It still generates fan mail & social media hits today, in 2022. This unknown, micro-budget film has become an underground world wide hit and a genuine cult-movie.
The follow-up screenplay, Handful of Thieves, was nominated for Best Annual Screenplay Drama 2022 in Stage 32's international competition, & Best International Screenplay 2018 in the Beverly Hills Film Festival and is being pitched for a £5-6m budget. A fast moving bank heist movie set in Southern Spain that's wrapped around a love story between two master thieves. HOT evolves like a modern-day, spaghetti western style, thriller. Set in the present day it has already attracted the likes of Rob Pattinson, CAA and ICM but is yet to be produced and I am open to approaches from financiers and established producers. It also has a 10 part TV series structured to run off the back of the movie.
Because of the success of The Honey Killer, a bigger budget remake is being considered, with a sequel and spin-off television series called, The Honey Killers.
Richard has also Directed or Produced well over 80+ television documentaries & factual programmes around the world from the highly successful, Ch5 fly-on-the-wall documentary series, GPs: Behind Closed Doors to Ian Wright in the Arctic, Sky One's highest rating documentary of the year in which he took the ex-England and Arsenal star on an expedition to climb the highest mountain in the Arctic, 400m at -20 degrees, and 360 miles from civilisation.
Previously, he had written, produced and directed a two hour documentary feature film on the New York Police Department for Discovery U.S, in which he filmed numerous undercover drugs raids and the tragic shooting of two, New York police officers. The documentary feature film was aired prime time, Saturday night on Discovery across the U.S and pick-of-the-day in the New York Times. He's Produced and Directed for National Geographic, Discovery, ITV1, Ch4, BBC, Sky, Animal Planet and Ch 5.
Richard won six awards for filmmaking and scriptwriting & eight nominations. He also have a slate of award winning and acclaimed screenplays from Handful of Thieves, Fast Lane to Eden, One Life To Go and A Day for Heroes.
