The first Tuesday trailer has an unexpected visitor for Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
It’s rare for a film’s first trailer to be so emotional and powerful. The film reflects Daina Oniunas-Pusić’s directorial debut, adding to its impact. Pusić’s debut film has been picked up by A24, the award-winning studio of Everything Everywhere All at Once, which is astounding in and of itself. Her vision is bold and unique, even in the trailer.

Death, masking as a talking parrot, helps Julia Louis-Dreyfus come to terms with an impending loss. Take a look at the Tuesday trailer.
The death we know from films and TV is usually a lanky fella, with a scythe and a bit of a frown. He means business and that business is death, he’s not a jolly fellow.
In Daina O. Pusic’s Tuesday, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Lola Petticrew, death takes the form of a parrot.
Yes, you read that right.
Take a look at the first Tuesday trailer below.
It’s going to make us cry, isn’t it? The film looks absolutely heart-wrenching, but it’s also giving us strong A Monster Calls vibes with its fairytale-like, fantasy take on such a serious subject.

Love makes loss worth bearing,” reads A24’s description. “A mother and her teenage daughter must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird. "Every life ends..." A24 has unveiled an official trailer for an intriguing film titled Tuesday, marking the feature directorial debut of Croatian filmmaker Daina Oniunas-Pusic (aka Daina O. Pusić). This premiered at last year's Telluride Film Festival, but it hasn't shown up many other places since then. This features a rather unique high concept: a mother and her teenage daughter must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird (who appears as a big parrot). It's a story about a woman who is sick and dying, and a mother who doesn't want to let her daughter go, learning to accept the reality of death thanks to this talking bird (as Death) helping her though it. All of this sounds quite wild. Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as Zora, Lola Petticrew as Tuesday, Leah Harvey, Ellie James, and Arinzé Kene as the voice of Death. This actually doesn't seem that weird,...

If Lee Pace's slightly too-perfect smile in the picture above didn't give it away, then the news currently making its way around social media will. David S. Goyer's "Foundation" series, which recently wrapped up its second critically-acclaimed season this past September on Apple TV+ (you can read /Film's review by Joshua Meyer here), has officially been renewed for season 3. That means plenty more timeline-twisting, philosophical, and downright nerdy storytelling to come.
In no time at all, Apple TV+ has made itself a prime destination for well-received, original shows -- especially when it comes to the kind of sci-fi stories that, to put it frankly, likely wouldn't have struck most studio executives as "audience-friendly." Ella Purnell (“Yellowjackets”) will star in and executive produce “Sweetpea,” a female driven original drama series from pay TV operator Sky.
The series is adapted from C.J. Skuse’s novel of the same name by writer and executive producer Kirstie Swain (“Pure”), and written by Kirstie Swain (“Run”) and Krissie Ducker (“Killing Eve”), alongside Laura Jayne Tunbridge (“Nights”) and Selina Lim (“Sex Education”). The series will be directed by Ella Jones (“The Baby”), who also serves as executive producer.
Purnell stars as Rhiannon Lewis, who doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really sick. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new,...

“Foundation” fans shocked by the sheer number of twists and turns in the Apple TV+ show’s explosive Season 2 finale can thank David S. Goyer’s eagerness to surprise. After an entire planet had been destroyed and multiple characters had shockingly died, the final moments of the Season 2 finale revealed yet another major character death to really twist the knife.
“In the wake of ‘Game of Thrones,’ I feel like audiences have come to watch shows in a certain kind of way,” Goyer told TheWrap during an interview coordinated through his personal publicist. “So there’s an expectation that Episode 9 on these big shows, just a ton of stuff will happen, and then Episode 10 will be a coda. So I’m cognizant of that as a viewer and what you don’t expect is that 10 minutes before the end of Episode 10, this other massive thing happens.”

An early scene in the small-scale and adventurous Tuesday reveals that Zora, the single mom played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, knows how to bargain. That’s good, because soon she’ll be bargaining with Death. And it’s especially good to see this gifted actor channel her brilliant knack for comic neurosis into dark, weird territory that’s steeped in grief and its seven stages.
Daina O. Pusić, a London-based writer-director who hails from Croatia, takes a courageous leap into allegory and performance-based animation with her first feature-length film. Tuesday, named for Zora’s dying teenage daughter (Lola Petticrew), is a straightforward, uncluttered fusion of mother-child drama and magic realism. In what is essentially a three-hander, Death is a world-weary macaw who can shrink and grow effortlessly, an outstanding VFX creation voiced with engaging seriousness and heart by Arinzé Kene (I’m Your Woman).
With a nod to the indelible modern classic Wings of Desire,...

Tuesday is a fairy tale with some very real-world consequences.
The latest A24 collaboration with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, after her superb comedy You Hurt My Feelings premiered at Sundance early in 2023, has just had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend, and for Louis-Dreyfus admirers it just may be a revelation. The star, who has won a boatload of Emmys for comedy including a historic achievement for Lead Actress in three separate comedy series and who was also excellent in the Kenya Barris comedy You People this spring, shows she is just as talented tackling a highly emotional and unusual dramatic role.
Tuesday also marks a stunning writing and directorial feature debut for Croatian filmmaker Daina O. Pusic, who in wanting to make a movie dealing with loss and death has turned it all into a bit of a fairy tale involving a macaw who it turns out is the face of death.
