Stone created, and stars in, this psychological thriller about a pregnant womant faced with poverty, crime, violence, and eventual madness.
Stone plays "Havi", the pregnant woman, and director Abel Berry (Kodie) also co-stars as "Caleb", her criminal boyfriend. Andrew Rose acts as producer, and you'll recognize Shannon Lark (Walking Distance) and Dai Green (Resurrection) right away.
This story doesn't seem simple; when you watch the trailer you'll see that this is a dystopian creation, set in a bleak worls where poverty and crime are everywhere. Havi is unable to seek out a better life for herself and her family, because there is no better life to be had. Filled with a denizen of unsafe, neurotic, cruel, and criminal characters, this story is not a happy one. Prepare to feel bummed out, but intrigued:

Abel Berry Sometimes in order to break the mold, you got to go against the grain. Director Abel Berry is doing just that with his latest effort Kodie which is currently playing on the film circuit scene. In all honesty, after reading about the premise, my initial reaction was "Wtf?". A film about a woman dressed in a teddy bear outfit that kills people? However, the premise alone has this ability to arouse curiosity as to if Abel Berry could pull off something that seems so outlandish. I mean after all there was the Hal Holbrook slasher Girls Nite Out from the 80's that had a killer in a bear costume that remains pretty obscure because the execution of the story was just so laughable. However, Berry was able to pull off the story with several interesting plot twists and turns. And most importantly, he was able to keep the...

A team of paranormal investigators find themselves having to deal with a murderous girl dressed in a teddy bear costume who has been cursed by a witch.
Watching a film is like an investment. Instead of investing money, viewers are investing their time and their emotions into a story. So a film needs to have a good story and characters that viewers can either relate to or are fascinated by. Kodie has an interesting story that does something original, something different, something unique. Kodie gets credit for doing something bold and out there. As the film unfolds revealing new layers, the story becomes more endearing. Now, if only the main character was as endearing. The film paints this portrait of a character at wits ends and struggling with pursuing his passion.

The premise of Kodie is one that might leave you tilting your head a bit; it's the tale of a team of paranormal investigators who go to a reportedly-haunted house and find themselves caught up in a deadly curse involving a little girl named Kodie. The little girl just so happens to be dressed like a teddy bear and she was cursed by a witch, forever damned to eat the flesh of the wicked.
The filmmakers, Abel Berry and Jennifer Stone, were also the stars of the show; Stone portrayed the adult version of the homicidal teddy bear and Berry played Jasper, a local man who is more than meets the eye. Rounding out the cast were other indie horror staples such as Kristen Hall, Andrea Schweers, Alan Rowe Kelly, Parrish Randall and James Furey...

Sure, when it comes to Abel Berry you might be thinking, “If only he would keep his mouth shut and take his shirt off,” but while this is true of what one thinks of most attractive men, Abel Berry can be extremely charming when he thinks no one is looking. Abel is the tall, dark, and handsome filmmaker behind the new horror film Kodie; the Rudolph Valentino, if you will, of the indie horror film scene in Texas. Since most people in Texas don’t work out, Abel Berry’s incredibly toned physique makes him stand out as a God amongst men. He’s also managed to avoid a Texan drawl and I doubt he hangs queers, like most Texans. Most of all, Abel Berry is a yummy-looking horror fan who oozes sex appeal and pretends he doesn’t know it. Don’t let the horrendous capitalization usage on his...
