“Far below NBA standard in regard to explosiveness and athleticism… at 6-2, he’s extremely small for the NBA shooting guard position… Needs to add some muscles to his upper body, but appears as though he’ll always be skinny.”
That was just a taste of Steph Curry’s underwhelming 2009 NBA draft report. A pair of point guards (Ricky Rubio, Jonny Flynn) were ultimately selected ahead of Curry, who went on to become a four-time NBA champion, two-time league Mvp, and the greatest shooter in basketball history. (He was also...

It was a winning game from the start for the Phoenix Suns. On Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Arizona basketball team victoriously faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers, but before the game got underway, the players got an ultra sweet surprise from their families back home. Considering they've been in the NBA "bubble" in Orlando, Fla. for about a month now amid the coronavirus pandemic, the athletes got a special reminder of their loved ones when they popped up in pre-taped clips to enthusiastically announce the starting lineup for Tuesday's game, which included Cameron Johnson, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges and Ricky Rubio. Shooting guard Devin...

With a tenth of the NBA season complete, it can be said that fans around the world have been treated to some exciting basketball filled with surprises at every turn. From the dominant starts to the season seen with Memphis and New York to the statistic explosions of Kenneth Faried and Oj Mayo, there has not been a shortage of excitement.
Even the most optimistic of Charlotte supporters probably would not have predicted a 4-3 start for a team ridiculed for one of the worst seasons in league history just last year, and the play of the Bobcats has been enigmatic of how the league has gone this past season. Here at Wgtc, we can see beneath the surprise starts of certain teams in the league, and having said that we have compiled a list of what we believe will make up the top 8 teams from each conference come playoff time.

Everyone and their mothers are talking about the NBA Draft today, because it represents infinite potential. Unless you're a Knicks fan. Forget November, when these kids will have to play actual NBA games (unless you're a Knicks pick!); for now, let's talk about upside. Let's talk about length. Let's talk about reachability. Let's talk freakish athletes. Let's get all sweaty homoerotic with these draft picks.
After a cold shower, we noticed that this year's draft seems to have a much higher human interest on the internets. Maybe it's because any clown can give the draft grades, but that's getting tiresome and worthless. Take CBS Sports, for example; they gave the Sacramento Kings an A+ for making an obvious pick of Thomas Robinson at number five. Also, aren't Robinson and DeMarcus Cousins naturally going to be a rebounding force without addressing chemistry/scoring issues? Also, why are the Kings rewarded for assembling a shitty team?...

George Clooney wants to get his hands on an Olympic ticket, London cabbies are unhappy and Britain's spies will be chained to their desks
Canada's women celebrate in defeat
Canada's women footballers were left to celebrate their qualification for 2012, despite being thrashed 4-0 by the USA in the Concacaf Olympic qualifying final. A 3-1 win over Mexico in the semis had already guaranteed the Canadians a spot at this summer's Games for only the second time. Probably just as well.
Madrid look to the distant future
There are already concerns over the logo for Madrid's 2020 Games bid, which was released this week. The logo, designed by a 22-year-old graphic arts student, appears to read 'Madrid 20020'. A whopping 81% of the Spanish public have declared their opposition to the logo, while commentators have labelled the design as "confusing and naff".
