Sergey Mavrody moved to the US from Moldova, USSR. In 1996 he was granted US citizenship as an "Alien of Extraordinary Ability". He is an Emmy Award-winning production designer for 'The Bridge' a musical film.
Sergey received his first graduate degree in animation from VGIK film school, Moscow, earning his second MFA degree in Interaction Design and Computer Animation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
In 1991, Sergey produced and directed an animated film 'Dangerous Planet', which received awards at the North Carolina International Festival and at the Chicago Moving Image Film/Video Festival.
Sergey Mavrody served as a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and at DeVry University. He also served as a board member at the A.S.I.F.A. animation association and as a Head of the Animation Jury at the Chicago International Film Festival. Sergey Mavrody is the founder and president of the Blow-Up International Arthouse Film Festival.
Sergey Mavrody made a contribution to user interface design, computer science, and engineering. He is an internationally published author and inventor. His touch-screen patents are licensed by all major cell phone manufacturers.
