Moses Sumney and Paramore’s Hayley Williams have joined forces for a new psychedelic soul track, “I Like It I Like It.”

Over a hazy, trotting beat and twinkling electric piano, “I Like It I Like It” features Sumney and Williams narrating a blossoming relationship that’s become slightly too obsessive: they don’t just like their partner, they like them so much they’ve gone off the deep end emotionally. ‘Down bad’ is an understatement.

“A kiss on the cheek every time that we meet/ I turn cactus/ When we touch,” Sumney sings in the first verse, with Williams later remarking “You cover all the ‘zines in my conscious stream/ And that’s so fuckin’ weak/ I got subscriptions.” Meanwhile, they both attempt to face reality in the bridge, almost afraid to hear their partner open up romantically because that means the addictive streak won’t end any time soon.

When Charli Xcx dubbed it a “Turnstile Summer” at Coachella, it seems she meant it’s going to be a lush, ominous, head-cracking kind of season. That is, if the hardcore band’s new video for “Seein’ Stars” and “Birds” is any indication.

A perfect demonstration of Turnstile’s dichotomy — blistering hardcore mixed with endlessly inventive melodies — the double video starts off dreamy, with a gaggle of dancers undulating to soaring vocals and Bill and Ted-esque electric guitars. Turnstile have released two new songs, “Seein’ Stars” and “Birds,” from their upcoming album, Never Enough, along with a seamless music video for both tracks.

The double single showcases the two sides of the band’s sound. “Seein’ Stars” is the softer pop song, with guest vocals from some well-known singers — Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange) and Hayley Williams (Paramore) — and a disco-esque guitar riff that conjures up David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.”

Meanwhile, “Birds” is a two-minute sprint that sees Turnstile in full mosh mode — a reminder they can still dish out some potent hardcore.

The accompanying music video, directed by singer Brendan Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory, artfully bridges the disparate tracks like a short film. Hayley Williams posted an acoustic performance of “Teenagers” from Jennifer’s Body on Instagram.

“Wrote this for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack when I was still a teenager,” the Paramore singer shared.

A time capsule of 2009, the soundtrack also featured the likes of Florence + the Machine, Dashboard Confessional, All Time Low, Silversun Pickups, and Cobra Starship.

Hayley Williams has unearthed a true deep cut from her catalog, sharing a super rare performance of “Teenagers” — a song she wrote for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack — on Instagram.

Williams shared a solo acoustic performance of the tune, sitting on the floor and strumming as she sang, “It’s in the air now/Bitter tears and broken hearts/We’re teenagers/We count the years/We think we’re smart/But we’re not.”

Hayley Williams has been having a blast going on musical side quests across Nashville. She’s joined both Finneas and Cyndi Lauper in recent months. Her latest included a surprise appearance with Deftones, where she joined the band on stage to lend some striking vocals and headbanging to their performance of “Minerva.”

The pop-up doubled as a reunion for Williams and Deftones, who last performed together over a decade ago. In 2010, the Paramore front woman joined the band at Luxembourg’s Rock-a-Field festival for “Passenger,” filling in for Maynard James Keenan.

Deftones‘ set at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday (March 26th) had a little added star power, with Paramore’s Hayley Williams taking the stage to perform guest vocals on the encore opener “Minerva.”

Williams looked to be in attendance as a fan, posting footage on Instagram from the back of the venue with the other concertgoers. But when it was time for the encore, the Paramore singer headed to the stage to help out with the song from Deftones’ 2003 self-titled album.

The Paramore singer mostly lends backing vocals on the chorus drops, though she’s obviously stoked to be up there, bopping around the stage and dancing to the otherwise tempered, slow-tempo cut (as seen in fan footage below).

It marks the second time Williams has joined Deftones onstage, as she previously sang alongside Chino Moreno and company in 2010 at the Rock-a-Field Festival in Luxembourg.

More than a dozen comedians and musicians are coming together to support Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires that claimed at least 25 lives and ravished tens of thousands of acres in January. With good and bad moments throughout the years, a slew of comedians rising to fame thanks to the show, and countless actors and singers showing off their comedic timing, SNL has been a huge hit over the years. Finneas has kicked off his For Cryin’ Out Loud Tour in North America!

The 27-year-old musician started the tour in Australia at the start of the new year and returned to the stage this past week in Nashville.

For a first night special treat, Finneas brought out Paramore‘s Hayley Williams to perform her song “crushcrushcrush” together!

He is hitting up popular cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn, Detroit, Chicago, Denver and Salt Lake City, among others. He will then head over to Europe and the UK in April and May.

Taylor Swift’s 2015 girl squad was unforgettable, and so was her reaction to the Saturday Night Live sketch inspired by the group, per Lorne Michaels.

The pop star made headlines that year with her music video for the “Bad Blood” remix with Kendrick Lamar, which featured cameos from Selena Gomez, Zendaya, Jessica Alba, Cindy Crawford, Gigi Hadid, Hayley Williams, Mariska Hargitay and Lena Dunham, among many other stars.

In the months that followed the video’s release, SNL spoofed Swift’s iconic girl group in two sketches during season 41. One skit, “The Squad,” featured a post-apocalyptic world controlled by Swift and her friend group. “In 2015, Taylor Swift created her Squad. By the end of her tour, the entire world has joined,” the narrator says in an ominous voice.

Finneas’ For Cryin’ Out Loud! Tour kicked off Thursday night in Nashville, where he was joined onstage by a surprise guest… no, it wasn’t Billie Eilish. Instead, Hayley Williams made a cameo appearance.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes scored the top honor, outstanding visual effects in a photoreal feature, at the 2025 Visual Effects Society Awards.

Dune: Part Two led the winners list with four wins in the feature categories, while The Wild Robot was named top animated film with four wins as well. Shogun won best photoreal episode, winning three awards. The Penguin also won three awards.

The Ves Awards recognizes “outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials, video games and special venues,” according to the organization. This year, comedy duo The Sklar Brothers made their debut as the hosts of the show, while Keanu Reeves presented the Ves Award for Creative Excellence to Shogun actor-producer Hiroyuki Sanada.

Computer graphics researcher Paul Debevec presented VR/Immersive Technology pioneer Dr. Jacquelin Ford Morie with the Georges Melies Award, while Michael Dougherty presented VFX supervisor Takashi Yamazaki with the Visionary Award.

In early January, Lucy Dacus put out a casting call for “hot mascs” to be featured in an upcoming music video. FireAid, the double-venue concert event to raise funds for Los Angeles wildfire recovery efforts, will take place Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA, capping a whirlwind effort to mount a response to the devastation caused by the Palisades and Eaton fires.

The concerts will feature performances by the likes of Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Wonder, Peso Pluma, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day and more.

The Visual Effects Society has chimed in on the awards season conversation.

On Tuesday, the visual effects industry’s global honorary society announced nominees for the 23rd Annual Ves Awards — with top Best Visual Effects Oscar contenders Better Man, Dune: Part Two, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes among the films recognized.

Dune: Part Two led the way among photoreal features with seven nominations, including Best Feature. The Wild Robot led all animated films with five nominations; Shōgun and The Penguin earned four bids each on the TV side.

Wicked and Gladiator II, which are currently predicted to land among the Best Visual Effects Oscar nominees later this month, were both absent from the Best Feature lineup. Instead, the Ves Awards went with Mufasa: The Lion King and Twisters. Last year, just two of the five Best Visual Effects Oscar nominees were similarly nominated in the Ves Awards...

Updated with ceremony hosts: Dune: Part Two scored a leading seven nominations to lead the 2025 Ves Awards, which the Visual Effects Society revealed today. Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel will battle for the marquee Photoreal Feature category against Better Man, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Mufasa: The Lion King and Twisters.

The Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature race is among Blitz, Civil War, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter One, Nosferatu and Young Woman and the Sea. Battling for VFX in an Animated Feature are The Wild Robot — which leads all toon movies with five noms — Inside Out 2, Moana 2, Transformers One and Ultraman: Rising.

“The artistry, ingenuity and passion of visual effects practitioners around the world have come together to create remarkable imagery,” says Kim Davidson, Ves Chair. “We are seeing best in class work that elevates the art of storytelling and exemplifies the spirit of innovation. The Ves Awards is the only venue that showcases and honors these outstanding artists across a wide range of disciplines, and we are extremely proud of our nominees.”

The nominees in 25 categories were selected by Ves members at 49 in-person and virtual panels around the world.

Paramore has been one of my favorite bands for the past 15+ years, and yet 2024 still managed to surprise me when it comes to one of their songs. I first saw the Tennessee outfit way back in 2006, before their big breakout a year later with Riot!, as part of the Give It A Name Introduces tour in the UK.

They weren’t even the most prominent names on the lineup, and I’d be lying if I said I knew they’d reach the level of stardom they have, but they were certainly enjoyable.

I’ve seen Paramore a bunch of times since then, both at their own headlining shows and festivals, but not since Reading Festival in 2014 - not a deliberate choice, but a case of tours and timings not lining up. That streak finally ended in 2024 when I got to see them supporting Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium.

Taylor Swift has borrowed from all different genres throughout her career, and despite mainly sticking to pop, she's even released some rock-inspired songs. Swift started her career as a country music singer before branching out and becoming a major pop star. Swift has released eleven albums and has never done the same thing twice, which has contributed to her massive success. After releasing her third pop album, Lover, Swift pivoted again, dropping folklore and evermore. The albums, which she referred to as sisters, leaned heavily into folk music, as most of the songs were folktales rather than nonfiction stories.

Back in 2010, however, Swift started shifting from country music and started bringing in more rock influences. During this time, she was hanging out a lot with Paramore's lead singer Hayley Williams, and she even brought her friend out as a special guest during the Speak Now tour. During the same tour,...

Even individuals from fashion-forward families found their voice through Dr. Martens. Julia Restoin Roitfeld, daughter of the iconic Carine Roitfeld, once reflected, “I had no boundaries at home, so I had nothing to push against. I only rebelled with clothing when I was 14. I would wear purple Doc Martens and had purple streaks in my hair, dirty jeans, and baggy tops. Very Britpop. Anything that wasn’t girly or feminine. My mother hated it.

The history of Paramore as a band is an interesting, yet tumultuous one. In the small town of Franklin, Tennessee, Paramore was originally conceived by teenagers Hayley Williams (lead singer), Jeremy Davis (bassist), and brothers Josh and Zac Farro in 2004. Their rise was meteoric following "Misery Business" and the band has never looked back since, even if it has evolved in time.

In that time, Zac and Josh Farro would exit Paramore, but that's not even the most interesting part. Bandmates come and go all the time. It's a part of the natural evolution of any band. What's most interesting is that while Josh has continued to stay away from the band, Zac Farro has since returned to Paramore.

It's rare to see band members return to the band they left years after, but to see one brother return while the other hasn't is the real headscratcher. To understand why,...

Cyndi Lauper brought out surprise guest Hayley Williams to join her on “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” at the singer’s Friday night concert in Paramore’s hometown of Nashville.

The performance came five years after Williams also made a guest appearance to duet the same 1983 hit during Kacey Musgraves’ concert at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in Feb. 2019.

Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour” is currently underway, and during Friday night’s stop in Nashville, the pop legend brought out a special guest to help sing the tour’s eponymic song: Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

That’s right, commanding the stage of Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and donned in matching white-with-red-polka-dot outfits, Lauper and Williams brought “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” to life. Throughout the song, Williams — who delivered some masterful vocal runs on her verses — kept her gaze on Lauper, almost as if she was in just as much awe as the audience to hear the 1983 hit in its retrospective glory. Pop supernova Chappell Roan may have another project in the works following her successful debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Roan shared a clue in an Instagram post Tuesday, with a message referencing the dating reality show Love Island.

The pop star held up her debut album in the post with a caption that read, “Album kinda popped off imo but it is time to welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa,” referring to the cheeky one-liner the Love Island narrator uses to introduce new singles onto the resort property.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams has rebuffed allegations that the salon she co-founded in Nashville, Fruits Hair Lab, fostered a toxic workplace environment. “I will no longer hold my team back from stopping assholes who are trying to take advantage of and attack my character,” she said.

The R.E.M. frontman and Isbell will be joined by a “special guest,” who is yet to be announced. Isbell previously performed at the Democratic National Convention earlier this year, where he played his working class anthem “Something More Than Free” and endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

Last month, Donald Trump posted an especially gross AI-generated parody of Morissette’s song “Ironic,” which suggested that Harris traded sexual favors to help advance political career. Now, Morissette herself is responding by throwing her support behind the vice president.

The singer-songwriter, who is a dual Canadian-American citizen, is set to headline a fundraiser on behalf of Harris in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to Deadline. Singer/actress Halle Bailey is also slated to perform at the event, which is being put on by Democratic fundraiser Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Harris Victory Fund, which benefits Harris’ presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and state parties.

The four-part series from NBC News Studios and MSNBC Films, My Generation, will feature interviews and archival footage to explore each of the four generations that make up the vast majority of Americans: Baby Boomers (born 1946 to 1964), Generation X (born 1965 to 1981), Millennials (born 1981 to 1996) and Gen Z (born after 1997).
