Moses Sumney and Hayley Williams Team Up for “I Like It I Like It”: Stream
Image
Moses Sumney and Paramore’s Hayley Williams have joined forces for a new psychedelic soul track, “I Like It I Like It.”

Over a hazy, trotting beat and twinkling electric piano, “I Like It I Like It” features Sumney and Williams narrating a blossoming relationship that’s become slightly too obsessive: they don’t just like their partner, they like them so much they’ve gone off the deep end emotionally. ‘Down bad’ is an understatement.

“A kiss on the cheek every time that we meet/ I turn cactus/ When we touch,” Sumney sings in the first verse, with Williams later remarking “You cover all the ‘zines in my conscious stream/ And that’s so fuckin’ weak/ I got subscriptions.” Meanwhile, they both attempt to face reality in the bridge, almost afraid to hear their partner open up romantically because that means the addictive streak won’t end any time soon.

Turnstile Go All Ari Aster in the Pit in Double Video for ‘Seein’ Stars’ and ‘Birds’
Image
When Charli Xcx dubbed it a “Turnstile Summer” at Coachella, it seems she meant it’s going to be a lush, ominous, head-cracking kind of season. That is, if the hardcore band’s new video for “Seein’ Stars” and “Birds” is any indication.

A perfect demonstration of Turnstile’s dichotomy — blistering hardcore mixed with endlessly inventive melodies — the double video starts off dreamy, with a gaggle of dancers undulating to soaring vocals and Bill and Ted-esque electric guitars. Dev Hynes, a.k.a. Blood Orange, and Hayley Williams also lend vocals to “Seein’ Stars,...

Turnstile Unveil New Songs “Seein’ Stars” (Featuring Hayley Williams) and “Birds”: Stream
Image
Turnstile have released two new songs, “Seein’ Stars” and “Birds,” from their upcoming album, Never Enough, along with a seamless music video for both tracks.

The double single showcases the two sides of the band’s sound. “Seein’ Stars” is the softer pop song, with guest vocals from some well-known singers — Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange) and Hayley Williams (Paramore) — and a disco-esque guitar riff that conjures up David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.”

Get Turnstile Tickets Here

Meanwhile, “Birds” is a two-minute sprint that sees Turnstile in full mosh mode — a reminder they can still dish out some potent hardcore.

The accompanying music video, directed by singer Brendan Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory, artfully bridges the disparate tracks like a short film. The clip for “Seein’ Stars” is appropriately more lilting and chill, whereas the “Birds” portion is an energetic performance video, albeit with some stylized cinematography — particularly during the...

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Shares Acoustic Rendition of “Teenagers” from ‘Jennifer’s Body’
Image
Hayley Williams posted an acoustic performance of “Teenagers” from Jennifer’s Body on Instagram.

“Wrote this for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack when I was still a teenager,” the Paramore singer shared.

A time capsule of 2009, the soundtrack also featured the likes of Florence + the Machine, Dashboard Confessional, All Time Low, Silversun Pickups, and Cobra Starship.

In the movie, a newly-possessed high school cheerleader turns into a succubus who specializes in killing her male classmates, leaving it up to her best friend to put an end to the horror.

Amanda Seyfried, who starred in the cult classic alongside Megan Fox, recently revealed that they’re “working on” a sequel.

Karyn Kusama directs from a script by Diablo Cody. Johnny Simmons, J. K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris, and Adam Brody round out the cast.

Speaking of Jennifer’s Body, Gutter Garbs has new T-shirts ($32), long sleeves ($40), and hoodies ($55) from the film available through Sunday,...

Image
Hayley Williams has unearthed a true deep cut from her catalog, sharing a super rare performance of “Teenagers” — a song she wrote for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack — on Instagram.

Williams shared a solo acoustic performance of the tune, sitting on the floor and strumming as she sang, “It’s in the air now/Bitter tears and broken hearts/We’re teenagers/We count the years/We think we’re smart/But we’re not.”

In the caption to the post, Williams recalled writing the song for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack when she,...

Exclusive: Utopia has set a theatrical release for Robert Schwartzman’s Hung Up on a Dream: The Zombies Documentary with special event screenings on May 12 in several cities –Washington D.C., Boston, Austin, Pittsburgh and Seattle– followed by full theatrical engagements in NY and LA on May 16 respectively at the Quad Cinema and Landmark NuArt Theatre.

The film, which premiered at SXSW 2023, traces the remarkable journey of iconic British rock band The Zombies—from teenage friends to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.

Headbanging Hayley Williams Joins Deftones for ‘Minerva’ in Nashville
Image
Hayley Williams has been having a blast going on musical side quests across Nashville. She’s joined both Finneas and Cyndi Lauper in recent months. Her latest included a surprise appearance with Deftones, where she joined the band on stage to lend some striking vocals and headbanging to their performance of “Minerva.”

The pop-up doubled as a reunion for Williams and Deftones, who last performed together over a decade ago. In 2010, the Paramore front woman joined the band at Luxembourg’s Rock-a-Field festival for “Passenger,” filling in for Maynard James Keenan.

Deftones Joined Onstage by Paramore’s Hayley Williams for “Minerva” in Nashville: Watch
Image
Deftones‘ set at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday (March 26th) had a little added star power, with Paramore’s Hayley Williams taking the stage to perform guest vocals on the encore opener “Minerva.”

Williams looked to be in attendance as a fan, posting footage on Instagram from the back of the venue with the other concertgoers. But when it was time for the encore, the Paramore singer headed to the stage to help out with the song from Deftones’ 2003 self-titled album.

The Paramore singer mostly lends backing vocals on the chorus drops, though she’s obviously stoked to be up there, bopping around the stage and dancing to the otherwise tempered, slow-tempo cut (as seen in fan footage below).

It marks the second time Williams has joined Deftones onstage, as she previously sang alongside Chino Moreno and company in 2010 at the Rock-a-Field Festival in Luxembourg.

'Don't Negotiate With Terrorists': Taylor Swift Personally Contacted Saturday Night Live to Cancel 2015 Sketch
Image
Saturday Night Live has poked fun at hundreds of celebrities for their sketches. However, Taylor Swift was not happy with the idea for a sketch they had in 2015.

Lorne Michaels created Saturday Night Live in 1975, and the series is now celebrating its 50th season. With good and bad moments throughout the years, a slew of comedians rising to fame thanks to the show, and countless actors and singers showing off their comedic timing, SNL has been a huge hit over the years. However, not every celebrity was happy with the sketches and Vulture revealed Taylor Swift personally contacted Michaels to cancel a sketch.

Lorne Michaels Reveals Taylor Swift’s Reaction to ‘SNL’ Spoofing Her 2015 Girl Squad
Image
Taylor Swift’s 2015 girl squad was unforgettable, and so was her reaction to the Saturday Night Live sketch inspired by the group, per Lorne Michaels.

The pop star made headlines that year with her music video for the “Bad Blood” remix with Kendrick Lamar, which featured cameos from Selena Gomez, Zendaya, Jessica Alba, Cindy Crawford, Gigi Hadid, Hayley Williams, Mariska Hargitay and Lena Dunham, among many other stars.

In the months that followed the video’s release, SNL spoofed Swift’s iconic girl group in two sketches during season 41. One skit, “The Squad,” featured a post-apocalyptic world controlled by Swift and her friend group. “In 2015, Taylor Swift created her Squad. By the end of her tour, the entire world has joined,” the narrator says in an ominous voice.

However, according to Michaels, the “Fortnight” singer wasn’t too thrilled leading up to the sketch’s premiere. The SNL creator recently told Vulture,...

A riff on ’90s Calvin Klein ads, the video co-stars Cara Delevigne, Muna’s Naomi McPherson, Towa Bird, ER Fightmaster, and more as they bring “Best Guess” to life. Described in a press release as “an anthem of queer tenderness,” the song captures the feeling of taking a chance on a relationship with lyrics like: “If this doesn’t work out/ I would lose my mind/ And after a while/ I will be fine/ But I don’t wanna be fine/ I want you.”

From ‘Quiet on Set’ to ‘Fall of Diddy,’ Meet the Doc Team Holding Pop Culture to Account
Image
The concept initially encountered some skepticism: What if you applied the investigative chops of seasoned reporters to the murky conservatorship constraining Britney Spears? Could anything new or insightful emerge from that process, given the swirl of media coverage that always surrounds the pop star?

But it was a combination that filmmaker Mary Robertson believed could be revelatory when she was the showrunner of The New York Times Presents — and it’s something she has been continuing to champion ever since. At the Nyt, that approach resulted in two hit films, Framing Britney Spears and Controlling Britney Spears, which reignited conversation around the pop star’s push to end her conservatorship and prompted responses from celebrities like Kacey Musgraves and Hayley Williams. At the production company that Robertson founded in March 2022, Maxine, a similar fusion of investigative journalism and popular figures and brands has paid dividends.

In a little under three years,...

Sky-High Heels: Lady Gaga’s Boldest Footwear Moments That Stole the Spotlight
Image
No one makes a statement with shoes quite like Lady Gaga. Standing at just 5 feet 1 ¼ inches (155.6 cm), Gaga is taller than Ariana Grande and Cardi B, but shorter than Hayley Williams, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Adele, and Taylor Swift.

To make up for her petite height, Lady Gaga embraces sky-high heels as part of her artistry. As she says, ‘I am a walking piece of art every day, with my dreams and my ambitions forward at all times,’ using her bold fashion choices to dominate every room she enters and inspire her fans to live boldly.

While most stick to 5-inch stilettos or 3-inch platforms, Gaga pushes the limits, confidently strutting in footwear that most wouldn’t dare try. Her shoes are as much a part of her iconic style as her extravagant outfits.

Lady Gaga proves that stature is no measure of star power, standing out on...

I've Changed My Mind About Paramore's Best Song After Seeing Them Live Again For The First Time In A Decade
Image
Paramore has been one of my favorite bands for the past 15+ years, and yet 2024 still managed to surprise me when it comes to one of their songs. I first saw the Tennessee outfit way back in 2006, before their big breakout a year later with Riot!, as part of the Give It A Name Introduces tour in the UK.

They weren’t even the most prominent names on the lineup, and I’d be lying if I said I knew they’d reach the level of stardom they have, but they were certainly enjoyable.

I’ve seen Paramore a bunch of times since then, both at their own headlining shows and festivals, but not since Reading Festival in 2014 - not a deliberate choice, but a case of tours and timings not lining up. That streak finally ended in 2024 when I got to see them supporting Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium.

10 Best Rock-Inspired Taylor Swift Songs, Ranked
Image
Taylor Swift has borrowed from all different genres throughout her career, and despite mainly sticking to pop, she's even released some rock-inspired songs. Swift started her career as a country music singer before branching out and becoming a major pop star. Swift has released eleven albums and has never done the same thing twice, which has contributed to her massive success. After releasing her third pop album, Lover, Swift pivoted again, dropping folklore and evermore. The albums, which she referred to as sisters, leaned heavily into folk music, as most of the songs were folktales rather than nonfiction stories.

Back in 2010, however, Swift started shifting from country music and started bringing in more rock influences. During this time, she was hanging out a lot with Paramore's lead singer Hayley Williams, and she even brought her friend out as a special guest during the Speak Now tour. During the same tour,...

Dr. Martens: From Grunge Icon to Timeless Fashion Staple
Image
Much of Dr. Martens’ popularity can be attributed to the grunge era of the ’90s when plaid and alternative music reigned supreme. It was a time when creativity was unrestrained, and a shared sense of nonconformity characterized the alternative nation of the decade.

Bella Hadid elevates her street style in New York City on February 9, 2018, pairing oversized Vivienne Westwood tailoring with edgy Dr. Martens Holly Lolita platform oxfords, Christianahjones orange sunglasses, and a playful Prada comic-print bag (Credit: INSTARimages)

Even individuals from fashion-forward families found their voice through Dr. Martens. Julia Restoin Roitfeld, daughter of the iconic Carine Roitfeld, once reflected, “I had no boundaries at home, so I had nothing to push against. I only rebelled with clothing when I was 14. I would wear purple Doc Martens and had purple streaks in my hair, dirty jeans, and baggy tops. Very Britpop. Anything that wasn’t girly or feminine. My mother hated it.

Why Josh & Zac Farro Left Paramore (& Why Only Zac Returned)
Image
The history of Paramore as a band is an interesting, yet tumultuous one. In the small town of Franklin, Tennessee, Paramore was originally conceived by teenagers Hayley Williams (lead singer), Jeremy Davis (bassist), and brothers Josh and Zac Farro in 2004. Their rise was meteoric following "Misery Business" and the band has never looked back since, even if it has evolved in time.

In that time, Zac and Josh Farro would exit Paramore, but that's not even the most interesting part. Bandmates come and go all the time. It's a part of the natural evolution of any band. It's rare to see band members return to the band they left years after, but to see one brother return while the other hasn't is the real headscratcher. To understand why,...

Cyndi Lauper brought out surprise guest Hayley Williams to join her on “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” at the singer’s Friday night concert in Paramore’s hometown of Nashville.

Image
Grab the Girls Just Want to Have Fundamental Rights T-Shirt. A portion of the proceeds are being donated to Lauper’s True Colors United.

Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour” is currently underway, and during Friday night’s stop in Nashville, the pop legend brought out a special guest to help sing the tour’s eponymic song: Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

That’s right, commanding the stage of Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and donned in matching white-with-red-polka-dot outfits, Lauper and Williams brought “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” to life. Throughout the song, Williams — who delivered some masterful vocal runs on her verses — kept her gaze on Lauper, almost as if she was in just as much awe as the audience to hear the 1983 hit in its retrospective glory. Watch fan-recorded videos of the performance below.

Image
R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe has mostly avoided the spotlight in recent years, but Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign has temporarily changed that. After kicking it off by performing R.E.M.’s 1985 song “Wendell Gee” for the first time in 39 years, Stipe played his solo track “Your Capricious Soul,” his Big Red Machine collaboration “No Time for Love Like Now,” and revisited “Driver 8.”

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Talks Mental Health Struggles, Boosts Resources for World Mental Health Day
Image
Paramore’s Hayley Williams opened up about the difficult process of parsing her own mental health struggles, and the need for greater resources and support systems for those grappling with similar issues, in a new note for World Mental Health Day.

Williams began by noting how “ignorant” she was of mental illness and how “all-consuming it can be” before she was diagnosed in 2018 with depression and a “specific kind of Ptsd” (the note was shared on the Instagram page of the hair dye company Williams co-founded). At the time, Williams said,...

The duo were introduced by Harris’ husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. “So honored and just geeking out, nerding out and geeking out that I’m about to introduce Michael Stipe and Jason Isbell,” he said.

As for Stipe, it marked a rare live public performance for the former R.E.M. frontman. He most recently sang live at the Songwriters Hall of Fame event back in June, where he reunited with his former bandmates for a performance of “Losing My Religion.” During Friday’s rally,...

Alanis Morissette to Play Kamala Harris Fundraiser
Image
You oughta know Alanis Morrissette is doing her part to elect Kamala Harris for president.

Last month, Donald Trump posted an especially gross AI-generated parody of Morissette’s song “Ironic,” which suggested that Harris traded sexual favors to help advance political career. Now, Morissette herself is responding by throwing her support behind the vice president.

The singer-songwriter, who is a dual Canadian-American citizen, is set to headline a fundraiser on behalf of Harris in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to Deadline. Singer/actress Halle Bailey is also slated to perform at the event, which is being put on by Democratic fundraiser Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Harris Victory Fund, which benefits Harris’ presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and state parties.

Morissette and Bailey are the just the latest musicians to throw their support behind Harris, following the likes of Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish,...

Hayley Williams Defends Anti-Trump Speech at Paramore iHeartRadio Set: ‘I Prepared’
Image
On the Paramore deep cut “Big Man, Little Dignity,” Hayley Williams takes aim at men who are rarely ever held accountable for their actions. “I memorized all your lies,” she sings on the bridge. During the band’s performance of the song at last weekend’s iHeartRadio Music Festival, the front woman delivered an impassioned speech criticizing Donald Trump and warning fans about Project 2025. Elon Musk and other Maga figures have since accused her of being “just another puppet of the machine” for having a written version of the speech on standby,...

Image
Chappell Roan says she has been diagnosed with “severe depression” amid her ongoing world tour in support of her blockbuster debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

In a new interview with the Guardian, Roan revealed that she received the diagnosis after going to “a psychiatrist last week because I was like, I don’t know what’s going on.”

“She diagnosed me with severe depression – which I didn’t think I had because I’m not actually sad. But I have every symptom of someone who’s severely depressed,” Roan explained, including brain fog, forgetfulness, poor focus and “a very lackluster viewpoint.”

Roan attributed her symptoms to her sudden rise to fame, noting, “I think it’s because my whole life has changed. Everything that I really love to do now comes with baggage. If I want to go thrifting, I...

Hayley Williams Slams Donald Trump, Project 2025 at iHeartRadio Fest: ‘Do You Want to Live in a Dictatorship?’
Image
Hayley Williams slammed Donald Trump during Paramore’s set at Las Vegas’ iHeartRadio Music Festival, warning fans about Project 2025 and encouraging them to vote.

During Paramore’s performance of, fittingly, “Big Man, Little Dignity,” Williams locked on to the camera that was livestreaming the concert on Hulu and spoke directly to both the Vegas crowd and the audiences at home.

“Project 2025 is Donald Trump’s playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community,” Williams said.

Paramore Channels Blondie with iHeartRadio Performance
Image
Paramore staged their final scheduled performance of 2024 at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday night, which they styled as a tribute to Blondie’s own 1979 appearance on The Midnight Special.

Singer Hayley Williams channeled Blondie’s Debbie Harry, donning a blue dress and headband, while the stage setup embraced a distinctly retro vibe. True to their recent live performances, Paramore also slipped in a brief cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” during their own song “Hard Times.”

On her Instagram page, Williams shared clips of Blondie’s performance on The Midnight Special and thanked Paramore’s “entire crew for an amazing year of shows and for helping us pull off this tribute.”

Elsewhere during the set, Williams gave an impassioned plea to vote while denouncing Donald Trump’s agenda. “Project 2025 is Donald Trump’s playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color & the LGBTQ+ community,...
